I know but he has no friends, his only ally who he stood by through thick and thin has knifed him. He will be up this week again and he thinks because of the crowd reaction. In this case his walking is justified.

I always find it odd that even though in this case Alex does not fancy Evelyn, he will still participate in whatever is going to happen instead of doing what I would do and beat a polite but hasty retreat.
