I think they're genuinely scared of them. We've seen some of the HMs finally start to stand up to Marc (e.g. when Danny and Cristian played him at his own game regarding his morning antics yesterday), but I can't see them having the guts to take on Helen directly. 
That's why Danny exploded yesterday: he's had to bottle it all up...
