Day 23: The final throw down

Big Brother is a slippery customer and the closing challenge in the 100 task confirmed this.

Still 20 points off target, the three housemates up for Final Throw were under pressure.

The task required each one to slide along a chute, scoring points for the final position of their bodies with 20 being the maximum each could earn.

Typical squabbles ensued as housemates selected those to take part but with just a minute to make a decision, Scott, Conor and Luke A were up.

Lauren took control. "We are going to be very quiet so you can talk to each other about what you are going to do," she said.

Optimistic perhaps -  when have the housemates even managed to stay silent?

Although not the obvious athlete, Scott was the one who talked tactics, "It's easy to go far," he said. "Better to go stronger than milder. Oh lord have mercy. Don't be mad if I get it wrong."

Following quite a flap he delicately launched himself onto the slide, securing a satisfactory five points.

Luke A gained approval from the housemates after scoring top marks - and showing us his first smile for a good while. Could there be more than one place to fill at the outsiders table by the weekend?

A bit of show boating ensued from Conor before he hurled himself down the chute with dubious dexterity.

Housemates are confident they have been successful meaning a 100 per cent food task pass rate to date but are they right to be so smug?

It's gone to a photo finish. Big Brother will reveal the results later this evening so watch this space for to find out how well housemates will be eating next week

Day 23: Ashes to ashes

Naughty housemates. In the limbo before the shopping budget manifests itself, certain smokers in the group took it upon themselves to make the best use they could of any tobacco they could salvage from ashtrays. Big Brother most certainly did not approve and told Lydia as much (in no uncertain terms) as she sat in the Diary Room just after the surreptitious smoke billowed across the garden.

'I don't want to speculate...' she said, as she went back into the living room, before she spoke of how ominous Big Brother's tones had been when he'd told her that the covert smoking was against the rules.

Non-smoking housemates were alarmed. Having only just passed the week's shopping task, they're concerned the budget may have been ear-marked 'economy' as punishment for the late-night dog-end binge.

Only time will tell. For the moment, housemates are just going to have to sleep on it. Tomorrow morning could well deliver something of a bumpy ride.

Day 23 round-up

Day two of the shopping task '100' saw housemates up at the crack of dawn - 7.30am to be precise. Not a wholly ungodly hour but a far cry from the post 9am lie ins they are used to.

Ashleigh, Caroline and Sara filed to stay awake sacrificing 5 points from the teams total.

Housemates ploughed on with the task throughout the day with Adam having to chose between a raw onion and a fry-up and Caroline indulging in a bag of pick 'n' pix whilst being spun on a chair.

BB turned the temptation level up to 11 with Luke S offering him the chance to watch Diary Room nomination action from the last three weeks in exchange for five points. Cue an hour and a half of conscience wrestling before the wannabe House daddy walked away from the opportunity.

Love action from Lushleigh has been limited of late but a new couple could be emerging in the shape of Arron and Sara who got a bit touchy-feely on the sofa.

Still 20 points shy of their task total housemates approached the final challenge under pressure. Conor, Luke A and Scott stepped up and slipped up. The threesome threw themselves down a waterslide using their torsos to hit targets.

It was touch and go with Big Brother taking it to a tense photo finish but housematesscraped through securing their luxury food budget.

But as we left, housemates were terrified they’d blown the budget and would be getting economy food after Scott, Luke A, Sara, Adam and Lauren all smoked dog-ends in Scott’s pipe. The remaining housemates think they might have broken the rules and could be punished when tomorrow comes. So that’ll be one to keep an eye on...
