8.42am: The brand new housemates are starting to stir. Can you guess who'll be first up and out of bed?

8.58am: The boys are first to rise. Plenty of strutting about in pants. Come on girls. You snooze you lose

9.19am: Lydia has got her bikini on. Has she seen the weather? That's dedication. Who else will follow suit?

9.28am: Caroline and Lydia are doing laps of the pool and planning an exercise regime. Doggy paddle is their stroke of choice

Day 1: Round-up

Oh, what a night!

Yesterday evening’s Big Brother 2012 launch went with quite a bang and we’re now pretty much fully acquainted with our 16 fantastic housemates. A more varied bunch you’d be hard-pressed to find.

But before all that we checked in on Jamie’s mission to find a wildcard to stick in the house later this week. After a thorough and slightly brutal search, he managed to pick three auditioning hopefuls, all eager to enter through a side-door. So that’s something to look forward to. And in the meantime we’ve got our lovely, shiny and new housemates to get to know. They entered one by one – some gracefully, some with swagger, and some, like Caroline, slightly clumsily.

Surely the biggest story of the night concerned the first brand spanking new HM to enter the House, Deana, who was instantaneously tasked with selecting three of the others to put up for eviction. Her discomfort was pretty obvious. Then, as requested, she was forced to make three other housemates face hardship,

nominating Conor, Victoria and Lydia and stumbling over her reasons why because, frankly, she didn’t actually have any.

After that, the champagne (and extra assorted boozy goodies) started to flow. There was a fair amount of flirting, there was a reasonable spraying of babble, a dose of insecurity and a slick puddle of smooth-talking. All in all, it was quite an eventful evening.

And there’s plenty more to come! We’re here for the duration, so make sure you stick with us.

It’s going to be an interesting summer...

I`m hoping the tweets will pick up pace but I won`t hold my breath.  

11.20: Sara is telling the housemates she eats whole cloves of garlic. Will this stop the boys trying to kiss her? 

11.41: Deana and the boys are doing circuits in the garden. Luke S was the first to get his shirt off. Chris the first to quit 

12.02pm: The girls are still doing their hair and make-up. That's just the three hours after they got up

12.21pm: The housemates are in the garden discussing whether they could down a bottle of hot sauce. Adam is pretty sure he could.

12:46pm Chris devours a banana in several large bites. Impressive

13.05pm: Shievonne is in the Diary Room and she appears to be dancing 

13.17pm: Housemates are wondering if anyone else will come into the House. Scott said that would be scary. Be afraid Scott 

13:28pm Shievonne has set up a nail bar in the garden and is giving Sara a manicure. What a treat

13:42pm Ashleigh is in the Diary Room talking to Big Brother. Will she be able to go 5 minutes without swearing?

13.52pm: Conor has been telling Ashleigh about his special watch. Lauren told the housemates she eats her finger skin. Charming

Didn't keep that secret for long

14.40pm: Lauren is teaching Caroline and Scott Jersey French. They are clearly impressed. Scott says he speaks French every day

14.54: Benedict has admitted to using hair thickening spray.

15:14pm Shievonne is in the Diary Room doing impressions of famous people while the other HM's watch on the plasmas in the lounge. 

15:25pm Shievonne is now doing impressions of her fellow housemates. Big Brother must guess who she is impersonating

15:38pm Big Brother reveals to Shievonne that the housemate have won a party as a reward for her efforts in the impressions task

15:49pm Lydia is upset with Shievonne for implying that was she was fame hungry during her impression of her

16.07: Lydia says she's had a different reception in the House than she expected. This is not how she is treated at home 

16.16: Lydia is considering revealing her celeb pedigree. She wishes her famous fiance could advise her 

16.39: Ashleigh is teaching Caroline how to talk Essex. Caroline suggests teaching Ashleigh to speak Esher

5.20pm: Chris has been talking continuously for five solid minutes.

5.37pm: Deana, Shievonne and Lydia are discussing Conor's dance moves. Apparently, he does an impressive worm.

5.55pm: Scott, Shievonne and Luke A are in the garden doing a British favourite -complaining about the weather.
