The singer impressed the judges after she sang Edith Piaf's 'Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien' during the 2010 series of the ITV talent show.
One of the showβs judges, Piers Morgan, described her performance as "astonishing" and "spine-tingling", while Simon Cowell described the singer as a "remarkable lady".
The great-grandmother made it to the competitionβs live final, but missed out on the top spot to acrobatic group Spelbound.
Since then her audition has been viewed over 700,000 times on You Tube and she went on to record an album with the Chelsea Pensioners.
Her friends and family last night left heart-warming messages on Facebook, including her grandson, Ian Scott who said: "Good night rest in peace oor wee granny, mother and friend to all (sic)."
