Bumping this up as it's on tonight and because I have only just seen last Saturday's on catch-up.

The bunch of senior citizens performing the beastie boys was really not my cup of tea, and the fact that audiences cheer every time someone over 70 tells people their age makes be like .  I mean, why do people cheer when someone says 'I'm eighty-twooooo?'

The girl singing PURPLE RAIN I was not keen on    She just shouted her way through the whole song, and it made me cringe.  Maybe she may grow on me, but I think that she was massively over-rated on the show.

The young black fella who sung an ode to his girlfriend was appalling, but hilarious.

The dance troupe with just one girl were good, but I am a bit bored with dance troupes.

The 25 year old guy singing Stevie Wonder was quite good, but I can't see him selling millions of records.  He had a good voice but nowt else.

And the keys and phone guy... WTF?

The girl with the dog Pudsey was OK though...

Must say, the quality of the acts is poor this year, and the talent is thin on the ground, compared to previous years.

The fact that they put the oldies through, the keys and phone guy, and a teenage girl who shouts into the mike, shows that the talent in this country is minimal.  Either that, or genuinely brilliant people are avoiding the show, because they will probably lose their street cred and respect if they go on it...

Now cue the key change in the power ballad as they say 'You're through to the next round!'

It's all contrived, Scotty.  There's a long list of Scottish talent but they're not about to admit that when they can play silly and inane instead.

I honestly don't know why they have to show SO many no hopers.

What's the point?  What does it prove?  And why let people humiliate themselves even more - and in public on the tv?

I know Cosmo. It`s all about what they think appeals to the "Saturday night" viewer and they don`t care who they use along the way to achieve it.

And they know, or Simon does, that none of these acts that they shower with compliments and give hope to, will ever make it..ever!

I like American Idol. They`re really looking to find a major talent.
