If anyone or any organisation ever sends you an email asking for your bank details or your credit card details, be extrremely careful - it is probably a scam.
There is also the well known scam which tends to originate from Nigeria. You receive correspondence from a wealthly Nigerian who says he needs assistance in getting money out of Nigeria into the UK and will pay you to help him. If you agree, typically a meeting is arranged at say Heathrow. You meet, but he says there's a problem - he needs some money to say bribe a customs official to get the money through. So you go and get some money, pass it over to him - he goes off, never to be seen again.
Let's hope our new Nigerian member is just trying to be friendly.

i had an email asking to use my bank account to remove 20 million dollars from nigeria and they were going to give me 5 million dollars for my trouble......i was not even a little bit suspicious about why a complete stranger from another country wanted to give me 5 million dollars...........and when i agreed. the alarm bells didn't start ringing even when he asked me for 30 thousand pounds to 'grease' a few palms to help the money on its way.......and now as i sit, life savings gone, waiting for my 5 million dollars....i think to myself....................
answers on a postcard please, send your answer together with 100 pounds (for administration purposes) to:

The only reason a person would send you an email address and ask to to email them is that on doing so they then have your email address.
You are then open to any amount of unsavoury emails or demands.
Just ignore any such request.

I'll just add that, if you hear from this guy, and it makes you in the LEAST bit uncomfortable, please report him!!
