Last week, I was walking through Town, ducking and diving away from the charity workers that try to catch you in the street; and I could hear someone singing.  It turns out it was a big issue seller and he was singing "You need to buy this copy of the Big Issue" to the tune of "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League....and he actually fitted the words in quite well to the tune.

However, that was sooo last week. Today he was RAPPING, he didn't even stop to breath, it was relentless (and a bit annoying) but he was giving it his all. He was even wearing a baseball hat turned to the side like a true pro

I'll have to go back in next week...who knows he could be doing Opera.

Do your local Big Issue sellers entertain you for your money?

For the last couple of years the nearest Big Issue seller has been one of the most annoying things about going into town.

He yells "Buuuuurg"   (or it could be "Beeeeeeerg")  Issue, as if in a loop. Why can't he say "Big"?

You can hear it 20 times in the short time it takes to walk past him. No pause no let up!

Continual. Non-stop!

I heard a rumour he has recently been arrested.

I've not seen one for ages. I used to buy mine either from my mate Tony who vended for a while or from Johnny who was in Mill Hill for about 3 years.

He didn't do anything entertaining but had a huge dog called Badger who was gorgeous and had his own mattress to lie on while Johnny was vending. All the regulars used to give Johnny food for Badge whenever he was there.

He used to go home with enough dog grub to feed the inhabitants of Battersea

That's horrible ................and very sad IMO. Our Big Issue sellers are quite unremarkable but ..............I really cannot walk past without buying a copy.

Well he used to get given a coffee or a roll from the bakers. He was well loved in Mill Hill. He managed to get an old van and him and Badge went off travelling round Europe earning money by busking and so on.
