subatomicpartygirl, I thought of this tune when Mozzer threw a whitey last week...on their hands at last a dead star/ the sycophantic slags all say/ I knew him first and I knew him well/ Best of/ most of/ satiate the need. Curse me for my thoughts
I did too, Fracas! I was thinking...how prophetic. (It's my second favourite Smiths, btw..first being "What Difference...") Johnny Marr didn't and still doesn't get the credit he deserves as an artist.

never heard off him subbie, although the names that are usually bandied about, are clapton ,van halen, santana, that bloke from queen, may?
Johnny Marr is possibly the best practical guitarist of all times. He came up with some marvellous tunes to complement Morissey's lyrics. I like Clapton, Van Halen was allegedly good at upsetting and then being punched by English roadies, and Santana formulaic with a secret chord progression. I don't think you can beat Hendrix, and Zappa was better than any of the above.
For sheer widdly twiddly twiddly, make sex face, and then come all over the audience, it has to be light blue haired, Stevie Vai.
