But surely we can have an opinion and be tactful about expressing it?....... Most of the time

Of course we can ....and I'm really not gonna get drawn on this but ........it's all OK and good with everyone if you're in the majority. If you're in the minority and dare say something very similar to whats being freely bandied about but in relation to the forum fave you get called everything under the sun and there are flounces and all sorts.

Anyway I won't get started but honest to God - I am never rude - simply on occasions express an alternative (unacceptable) opinion.

Oh, ok. Having said that Sooz, you just need to walk away and come back at a later date if someone doesn't agree with you

How many times have I said I don't like CBB or BB and people have had a go at me?

I've just made myself scarce for a while and came back

Absolutely ..........I do the same myself. This year I'm not even gonna start though - I'll just steer clear. I seem to have odd taste in HM's

Pirate, I really think you need to talk to someone   We'll help you all we can on here but I think you need to see your doc to be put in touch with a grievance councillor

It's only natural you miss your mam, it doesn't ever go away but I promise you the pain does subside a bit eventually.

I think you should all be grateful for the effort people have put in and try to enjoy what you received, after all it's the thought that counts. Surely Christmas is not about the 'stuff' you receive...

It's about everything, but if it makes someone's life happier by exchanging what I bought them, then that's fine with me

Ironically my family seemed a bit upset that they never seem to have anything for me to open each year. Telling them I am fine with it does not seem to suffice. So I guess I am going to have to makes something up for net year

You need to really stress your point if you feel that strongly about it then

That's not on Pirate, but do what you need to as regards this   Live for yourself and your other half and kids at the minute and then maybe you'll be clear on where you need to go next

I'm going to opt for the easy life Sprout. I'll just stick down a couple of fragrance ideas and and ask for a tube of 'anusol'

That's the idea - introduce a bit of levity into the day.

I didn't slag your post off I was ranting about the general  ungratefulness of people .. and pointing out there are a lot out there not so lucky.. I see it every year, people moaning about presents... I'm allowed to give my opinion about that.

Xmas day is the anniversary of my mothers death.. so I understand the loss part and having lost all my family now I understand it even more.. however I still get incensed when I see people moaning about presents they got when they should think themselves lucky especially if they still have family around..

so unless the rules on the forum have changed that you can only post all kissy kissy stuff and not say if anything gets your goat, I will continue to post my thoughts as I see fit as and when a topic makes me feel strong enough to comment on it, either good or bad .. I thought that was what forums were for.. .maybe I am mistaken
