Wish I had a load of pressies to even consider returning any.. . not that I would have unless, back when I may have got a few more pressies when I still had some family around, if they specifically said I kept the receipt just in case and, it was an item of clothing that didn't fit so would have been wasted then yes but never any other time. .

How bleedin ungrateful is it to even consider returning stuff... people should think themselves lucky to have got any presents at all. . plenty haven't and plenty are damn grateful for the little they do get whether it's what they really would have wanted or not. . it's a present ffs!

I learnt that even those smellies people hate are missed when you no longer get any and no longer have the money to fork out for smellies and have gone thru the supply you once had.. . them unwanted smellies come in handy and when they stop coming you soon wish you had some, no matter what,  of those 'awful' pressies  that you once moaned about..

sorry but it gets right on my tits when people moan about presents... you should have them all taken away ya bleedin ungrateful sods...

bah humbug and all that..

Rant over

I get all that was aimed partly (if not all) at me....... thanx

The reason i wish i could return that in particular is someone that loves me paid their hard earned money for it and i hate the fact it doesn't get used, i do ask friends etc if they would like them.

I mean this in the nicest way but why did you click on the thread if it was going to make you so angry?

point taken

also i dont see the point in keeping something that you dont want!

why not get something you DO want

instead of throwing stuff away/put in cupboard that you'll never bother with?

not everyone knows what ya want

id rather get what i want than f*ck it in a cupboard & it never see's the light of day again

cos thats a waste of someones money

I pretty much love everything I got ........my daughter is very pernickety though ..she wasn't keen on a lovely scarf someone had bought her - I said I'd swap some French Connection bath/candle/body lotion stuff for it - she scrunched up her nose and said nah .........just have it.

Sorted

And Olly .........you have made me really sad - wish I could share some stuff with you. It must be horrible to be lonely - especially at Christmas. I have a very unwanted sister in law, niece/husband and  great nephew coming tomorrow (started out just two of them and it's grown) they didn't think to tell me - I just happened to ask on the phone tonight how many of them. They actually rang to say 'could they come tonight instead of tomorrow' - I said no as I have Mr woos golfing buddies staying over after a very boozy celebratory round/comp today. The think is (with the in laws) - they still haven't been specific about how long they're staying.

They do treat this place like a hotel ...........they make out it sort of pains them to come oooop North and out in the sticks - it's like they're doing you a favour.

Oh well ..............I'll get my housemaids pinny and feather duster out as they want waiting on hand and foot. I should have revolving doors on my house - my son and his partner left this morning (I'd have happily had them stay much longer). My mum was worried about them travelling home to Manchester in the high winds as they have to cross the Pyrenees apparently (she meant the Pennines). Anyway she's feeling much better after having a couple of the Albatross pastilles I bought her (Olbas Oil).

Olly ..................I guess it's never perfect. Lots of love to you though.

Jen actually no it wasn't aimed at you..  if you felt that it was then that is your conscience kicking in about something I said, if it hit a nerve.. your post did remind me of the unwanted smellies situation that's all. .it was basically aimed at all the ungrateful buggers out there..

if you are worried about your friends a relatives wasting money then why not put out word well in advance that you are fussy about your smellies and face stuff so they don't buy you any. . if it has happened before and keeps happening they obviously don't know..

and I clicked on the thread out of curiosity and because it was there and threads are for reading. . all threads have a potential to annoy any of us once we open and read them. . this one did..  plus I am part of this forum and am allowed to do that and also to comment and I am not going to be all fluffy about this subject at all...

people do need to be reminded that they are being ungrateful sometimes. . until you lose what you once had you will never understand .. it doesn't hurt to let people know things can be great one minute and all gone the next and moaning about gifts is pretty bluddy bad form... having been in both positions, thankfully not quite at the stage of those in that good deed video, but you never know what is around the corner,  I am well placed to be able to give a bit of insight. . and I find it hilarious you post a video of some fabulous good deeds done to those in real need then moan about your own good fortune..  does that not sound a tad hypocritical.. no?

Just because it is meant to be the season to be jolly doesn't mean you can't give some people a kick up the ass sometimes and remind them just how fortunate they are..  they seem to forget sometimes

Ever heard of Freegle?  Gift your unwanted items to someone who would love them and make use of your unwanted things, old and new.... you don't even have to move off your ass they come and collect..

Or if you do want to move off your ass take all your unwanted stuff to a charity or hospice shop and let someone benefit somehow. .

Soozy thanks but no need to feel sorry for me. . that's the circle of life and it goes like that... I am used to being on my own. .I had great fun with my family when they were around, now they aren't I still make sure I cook myself a nice meal and am grateful for any little things that comes my way from the few friends I have left, many of whom are scattered around the world now..

That's life. .some lead a busy one, some lead a solitary one, we all learn to live with the one we end up with.. there's a eck of a lot worse off out there that need real care and attention.. I just hate hearing those that have moaning all the time, they have no idea just how lucky they are and how easily it can all disappear..

My daughter loves all this stuff too Baz... unfortunately she used some new shower gels etc on Christmas day (i told her to do a spot test first) and has been covered in a rash and taking anti histamines since yesterday. So i cant pass them to her. It's only one (for me) this year as i decided with most adult relations not to do gifts anymore and just buy for kids.

I don't return anything because I tend to re-gift anything I don't really like but I wouldn't be offended if someone returned a gift I bought them.  I'd rather they had something they wanted rather than not get any use out of it.

I got 2 perfumes that I don't really like.  1 I will keep and use as a daytime spare for one of my handbags, the other will be re-gifted to my Mum on her bday along with whatever else I buy her.

Me either Ells   In fact, I actively encourage them to do so and either put a gift receipt in with the present or I'll say if you don't like it please let me know and I'll change it or give you the receipt

Pirate .....we can't all be the same and have the same views .....it's what makes this place interesting and keeps it going. If we all agreed it'd be a bit boring.

I love that we're all so different ......saying that though, I will decamp to DS for BB - it all goes a bit too  on here during BB. It's a bit crazy on DS but I'm not afraid of offending anyone over there - we're a bit too much like family on here to be too outspoken.

I bought my friend's son Paul Hollywood's bread baking book without asking. He's got it already, so I told him to sell it on ebay and buy himself something he likes. I've also found a book about baking bread with sour dough, which he hasn't got yet. I expect a nice loaf soon.

All my presents were lovely and I shan't be returning anything.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!   Please don't

it is like family... I often tell my sis she's a silly cah for the opinions she has on BB/X Factor/Strictly you name it and she responds in kind.   Doesn't mean we fall out.

Pirate  - you don't annoy me either.

But surely we can have an opinion and be tactful about expressing it?....... Most of the time
