Looking at the Talking Pictures schedule of films I noticed that they are showing a 1940 film called The Blue Bird on Wednesday. It stars Shirley Temple (11/12 at the time) and was made by 20th Century Fox to try to match The Wizard of Oz. It's not in that league but is still a watchable film.
El Loro posted:Yesterday in the car park the car which had been parked next to mine had a logo which I didn't recognise. I've now identified it as a Tesla electric car. It was as long as the car bay length and looked expensive. Might have been a model X where the prices start at ÂĢ76,500 and go up to ÂĢ121,800. Substantially more than the cost of all the cars I've ever bought.
Hopefully I didn't scratch it on the way out (I didn't)
Hi El
Even if I drove and I could afford it, I wouldn't buy a car that cost them much money
They are just status symbols
Many many years ago in 1964 it was my school's 350th anniversary. To celebrate that part of the anniversaries was the holding of a science exhibition. It's too long ago to remember everything on show though a huge amount of work had gone into it. The one thing I do remember though was something that the 6th formers had done.
Quite remakable considering that the first successful crossing was in 1959 and the first commercial use in 1962 - they had built a working very small hovercraft. I remember it as it was when I realised that engines were rather hot as I put my hand on it without realising. Luckily I took my hand off instantly so wasn't injured.
Good evening I hope you've all had a good day. Mine's been pleasant & productive, and I read in the bath for over an hour!
El I enjoyed your hovercraft story, thanks for sharing
we had a 100th anniversary when I was at primary school. I remember having a Victorian day where we all dressed in costume and used old fashioned inks

Cloudy but dry herem rain forecast by late afternoon.
Google;s homepage today mentions Samuel Johnson. It has a link to its list of 25 words and definitions from his dictionary (famed for being the first Englsih one). It may put a smile on your face. Also note the entry for cameleopard

Good morning a pleasant sunny start here, albeit rather cool. I'm keeping my gloves handy now
what are you all up to this week?
Good morning everyone, a nice bright morning. Well I've had a very productive visit from Openreach and the very nice engineer has managed to triple my broadband speed by changing the main junction box, so I am a very happy bunny. It was a little disconcerting to get the call at just before 8.30 as I wasn't even dressed at the time!
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, I'm glad you broadband problems seem to have been sorted and that your speed connection has tripled According to Virgin my speed should be increased from 70 Mbps to 100 Mbps by the end of the year. I'm aware that some of their customers haven't been getting the advertised speeds but I have - just done a test 77.59 Mbps.

Moonie, apart from some rain over the next few hours and some on Thursday, the forecast for my area isn't that wet and there shouldn't be any more cold nights for the time being

Evening everyone.
The wanderer has returned.
Mr Yogi and I had a lovely time in London and are full admiration for the way Londoners just get on with things, even when someone tries to bomb them.
I haven't read back yet but I hope you are all fine.

Good morning not a cloud in the sky here today, it's beautiful, and cold! I think tomorrow I shall pack up the patio furniture, it's only been used about 4 times this summer lol
Ah, the long hot summers of yesteryear when we would wander through the countryside witthout a care in the world, picking long blades of grass and throwing balls into the air never to see them again, the dogs barking and chasing butterflies in vain.

I wonder what sort of person climbs to the top of Robinswood hill on the outskirts of Gloucester to set fire to the park bench there where people had been able to sit down and look over Gloucester. It didn't take much for the firefighters to put the fire put today but the bench is badly damaged.
The BBFC (the film classifiers) regularly do podcasts for people to listen to. They cover a huge range of topics. The most recent one may be of interest as it covers two films, the first being To Kill a Mockingbird.
