Around 2-30 this morning it was that foggy here I couldn't see the field at the bottom of the garden

We've had heavy rain and wind all day.

That's bad enough

The back garden is like a bog. When the dogs come in, we have to cover the kitchen floor in old towels before we can clean their paws - and still I end up cleaning mud splatters from the kitchen units!

I wouldn't fancy doing that

TBH, it is driving me round the twist, I have never known it to be as bad as it is right now.

Good job I love dogs, otherwise I'd be sticking up a 'Free To Good Home' advert in the newsagent's window.

The weather is set to get much colder during next week too

 It's costing me a fortune in Flash, but I am kidding about giving them away.

I wish it would stay dry and get a bit warmer for a while and give the ground a chance to harden up.

I have never known so many rainy days one after another, month after month

It will come as no surprise to anyone but it's raining here. Likely to be nearly an inch by the time it stops. And there's also snow in one of the forecasts for later on but I think it would be sleet where I live and if there is snow overnight it won't last long.

 

I hope Summer had a good curry last night

 

Unsurprisingly it is bucketing down here too After some rain tomorrow the long term forecast, at the moment, down here anyway is getting slightly better and dryer, thank goodness.

Our weather is awful, very heavy rain and windy!
Sorry I couldn't get on yesterday, it was just hectic from start to finish!
January is supposed to go very quiet, but we've had record breaking figures and we're not even at the end of the month pay day weekend yet
I just don't know what's going on, I could suggest it's the lack of freezing cold weather. Other businesses have said they've been the same too, and it has been suggested that people are just out spending money again now.
Who knows. I'm pleased we're busy but I sure am tired, I've enjoyed laying in today.

We've had snow!!!!! the biggest flakes I have ever seen too
It melted right away, it's very wet here from the rain and the sun has just broken through.
I'm waiting for mr summer to get off the phone and then we're going for a little walk. I've caught up on laundry & housework, bookkeeping and emails!

It's brightened up here now and the worst of the rain seems to have moved away.

 

Summer, when the temperature is around freezing, snow flakes will partially melt and merge with other snow flakes to form large ones. Once they land they would melt away almost immediately if the ground is warmer than the air.

I read somewhere that that native Americans have a saying relating to snow. Something along the lines of "Big snow, little snow. Little snow, big snow", which means if the snowflakes are large, very little snow will lie on the ground, and if the snowflakes are small, a large amount of snow will lie.

After a busy day yesterday, we decided we would have an easy day and go out for lunch. We went to a restaurant we have been to dozens of times before and always had good food and service. Today, the service was slow (kitchen's fault, not waiting staff's fault) and the food was not good. The starters were okay but hubby's main was lukewarm and the portion was small and my lasagne was tasteless and the pasta on the bottom wasn't cooked properly.  Very disappointing and now we would think twice before going back.

 

Yogi, it may be that the normal chef was away or something like that as otherwise that restaurant will get a poor reputation and people will stop going there.

Hubby had a word with the waiter, who was very apologetic. I think the problem might be a change of chef and/or suppliers.

Funnily enough, hubby and I commented that there were fewer patrons than usual. If standards are slipping, then I'm not surprised.

Not to worry, I'll look on the bright side - I probably saved myself from some extra poundage, by leaving half the meal.

It's frustrating when that happens Yogi, especially as you will have looked forward to the meal as a treat.  Is it still under the same management?

I'm glad Mr Yogi did have a word with the waiter. A change of suppliers could explain why your lasagne was tasteless, but it must be down to the chef for not cooking the pasta properly or serving Mr Yogi's meal lukewarm.

As far as I know, the management haven't changed, and the bar and waiting staff have been there for years (and are very good). Hubby is convinced the problem lies in the kitchen. Either a new and inexperienced chef, or a rubbish one!

It was disappointing, as we have never had cause for complaint before.

My DiL's family live quite close to the restaurant, so next time I speak to her, I'll ask if her parents have heard of any changes.

There is another restaurant very near to us which used to get rave reviews, but a  recent change of ownership has caused standards to drop dramatically. It's a shame when that happens.

 Hubby is convinced the issues were down to the chef.

 I'm usually rubbish at that.
