Good luck at the garden centre yogi, any ideas yet? I love it when the garden comes back to life in spring!

Me too, I know February can be a very cold month so although it feels like Spring is just around the corner I know that's just a cruel hoax so I don't want to get my hopes up.

Lots of hoovering to do today ready for hiring a carpet shampooer over the next 3 days, I hope my grandson will come and help me.

Have a good day everyone

Good afternoon Buddies

Glad you liked the baby owls. The mum still looks a little dodgy to me though

The weather is sunny but we had a sharp frost over night I have yet to go out. Have to go to podiatrist to have me pods done later though

El, I have had that problem in the past even though I live in a small town and the bins are placed on the edge of the property when they are due to be collected. Both side of my property have been collected but not mine

I just phone the local council up and it is collected within 3 working days, usually the next day.

Have a great day everyone

No decisions yet but the onions and garlic were successful last year, so I will probably grow them again. I might reduce the numbers of each vegetable but try a few more varieties.

El, that's so frustrating, I had the same problem last year and couldn't believe I had to phone the council on 4 seperate occasions! The peculiar thing was, it only happened with the general waste, never recycling and like you, my neighbours bins were always emptied.
In the end I politely reminded them that I paid for that service and have never been late, I suggested they check my records. It has always been emptied since

Yogi, I was thinking of flowers- veg is exciting! I like runner beans

Moonie, I hope your pedicure went well- what varnish did you choose?

Squiggle, please don't lift anything too heavy I bet your carpets will look beautiful after their wash
~Sparkling Summer~

The council have now replied saying that the bin will be collected by tomorrow.

I have been instructed to leave it on the kerbside until then. This will cause an obstruction to pedestrians and I have sent an email back to the council disclaiming any responsibility for accidents and any vandalism that may occur. I have also told them that I will be passing this on to the local councillor. It seems a stupid change of policy that may save a micro-second of work for the council workers but increases the risk of injury to pedestrians and of vandalism.

Moonie, I hope all has gone well with your pods. I could never have been a podiatrist as I hate feet! Baby feet are fine, but anything bigger is a no-no!

Yep, me tootsies are in fine fettle now fankoo Yogi

I am not a foot person myself either and couldn't do that job. Babies feet are different. They are 'squeezable'

Moonie

EL, I hope they can empty your bin as early as possible tomorrow so that it won't get in the way for too long.  Did they apologise for overlooking it?

Moonie I bet you are walking on air now.

They are delivering the shampooer and collecting it again and my grandson has promised to help.  All the downstairs vacuuming is finished and the upstairs one won't take long at all, so I feel we are all ready for tomorrow

squiggle

Squiggle, their reply reads:

In order for your bin to be emptied it needs to be presented on the kerbside by 7am on the day of collection with a firmly closed lid, with the bin only containing domestic waste.

I can confirm that your bin was due for collection on Monday 06th January.  I have therefore instructed the crew to return and empty.  Please ensure the bin remains on the kerbside until this has been completed.  The crew should return by the end of tomorrow at the latest.

So there's no sign of an apology there. The date of course should be the 20th, not the 6th. I had put the bin on the pavement on the house side rather than the kerb side and everyone in my road does as I do. The lid was closed and the bin just had household rubbish and didn't have anything which should have been recycled.

El Loro

That sounds like the 'standard' reply when they 'cock it up or can't be bothered' to do their job right El. No one puts their bin by the curbside because most of the curbside in our road have cars parked on them

We leave them on the edge of our property or up against the fence and wake up to bins strewn all over the pavement when they have finished.

For your grandsons offering to help. Hope you get the chance to put your feet up tonight.
