Bramble got the all clear, and a pedicure but we had to wait aaaaages; just as I arrived, so had a police van! They had just rescued 2 very malnourished dogs they got a thorough check up and then the RSPCA took them. Poor things, I hope they settle in to the rescue/rehab place and then find loving homes
I didn't mind waiting, we weren't in a hurry.

Good news that Bramble got the all clear.

Sad news about the rescued dogs. I can understand people who starve their animals.

Sweet dreams yogi
I'm not surprised you're tired after babysitting all day

I've just woken from a nap myself I must have needed that!

Photobucket have updated their app in a way that I can't seem to copy the links, which means I can't post owl pics
I'll see if there's another way to do it

Meanwhile, goodnight all in here and absent from here

Rosgirl, I hope all goes well with the Mozart's requiem etc. It was unfinished at his death and it's not known exactly who and how it was completed. Amadeus (both the play and the film) included a fictionalised account of this,

aw thank you EL yes its odd because the music score doesn't appear to change and it feels like Mozart  to the end - he causes voices to conflict - he is complicated but love it - Beethovens's Mass harder but nicer to sing somehow although I like Requiem

lol El, my shopping is much more boring than that. Tbh, that might be a good thing, as all that throwing and chucking might lead to some bashed and broken food.

Just what I was thinking Yogi, not good for biscuits

Dry this morning with even a hint of blue sky, I do hope that big freeze from North America doesn't make its way over here

Have a good day everyone

squiggle

Squiggle, there's nothing in the Met Office website to indicate that they expect the big freeze in North America to come here. They think it will get colder but nothing exceptional.

UK Outlook for Monday 13 Jan 2014 to Wednesday 22 Jan 2014:

Although showers and longer spells of rain will continue to affect the UK, conditions are not expected to be as stormy as those of recent weeks. At first, the strongest winds and heaviest rain are most likely in the west of the UK, then perhaps in the south and southwest, whilst the east will hang on to the driest weather. It will become colder, especially in the north where there is an increasing risk of snow, mainly over hills, with nearer normal temperatures at times in the south, and an increasing risk of frost, ice and fog. Later in the month changeable conditions are likely to continue, especially in the northwest, with the best of the drier weather in the east.

UK Outlook for Thursday 23 Jan 2014 to Thursday 6 Feb 2014:

Whilst current indications point towards changeable conditions persisting late in January, they are not expected to be as stormy as the start of the month. This would mean outbreaks of rain mainly affecting northwestern parts of the UK, spreading further southeast at times but tending to weaken. The best of the dry and brighter weather should remain in the southeast. Some periods of colder weather are likely, particularly inbetween weather systems, but overall temperatures may well remain near normal.

Yes Squiggle, the biscuits would have ended up as crumbs.

Shopping has been put on hold until tomorrow, as hubby wants to come with me.  it's a recipe for disaster as he will veer between putting things in the trolley that I don't want or need, and asking "are you sure we need that?", as I put things into the trolley. I think I'll take a wooden spoon with me and whack him with it, every time he gets on my wick!

For supposedly intelligent people we can be so incredibly stupid about common sense things can't we EL?  The ecosystem is as carefully balanced and far more complex than a Swiss watch and yet we insist on tinkering with it, improving it

 Exactly, Squiggle.

They would have to be careful, I have heard before about the dangers of marching over such a bridge as the rhythmic vibration can unbalance it very dangerously.  Fantastic views though, I went to that region with my parents - a reward for passing my 11+ I think - I remember we were near Interlaken, I remember the Jungfrau and going inside a glacier.

Squiggle, that blue ice is beautiful.

You probably never played an old adventure game called Blue Ice. It was published by Psygnosis back in 1995 for pcs. It was and still is different from any other adventure game written. It was also extremely hard, so hard that it is not known if the game has ever been completed or even if there is an ending to it. There was supposed to be a competition for a prize to whoever completed the game but the competition never took place.

Having said that, the style of the game was very imaginative, enhanced by the use of music and exceptional voiceover lead by Tom Conti.

A few links to Youtube clips of a walkthtough of the very early stages of the game.

I suspect the game was conceived as the computer equivalent of that Kit Williams book Masquerade.

El Loro

That game looks very difficult EL.  The name of the developer at the front of the first video rang a bell though, Psygnosis which if I remember rightly was the developer of at least one of the Discworld games, the first couple of which were so much fun.

Yes it is a really beautiful colour Yogi, we had our living room painted that colour once, the lighter blue.
