We saw Death at Pemberley over the last 3 evenings. I won't say any more so as not to spoil anything but I thought the last episode was the best of the 3.

 

Tonight it's Miss Marple on ITV. Interesting cast and it could be quite good though I don't rate the ITV adaptations as highly as Poirot.

Good morning everyone.  I didn't fancy Death Comes to Pemberley but I am glad that it has gone down well with most of the Buddies who watched it.

 

I am quite liking Julia McKenzie as Miss Marple although my daughter is a stickler for Joan Hickson in the role.  I caught one of the earlier ones on an obscure Sky channel the other day and it looked terribly old-fashioned, I was surprised.

 

I bet Bramble was very pleased with herself, as everyone says it is her natural instinct to hunt, horrible for SIL to watch though.

Jennifer Ehle will always be my favourite Elizabeth, but I think the lady in this new story is doing well, I think I will like her.

Thanks for letting us know about Yogi's internet Summer, I hope she manages to get back online later on.  It's a real nuisance when you've got no connection, we all rely on it nowadays.  Have a great time with your friends

 

We've got no frost at all at the moment, in fact it's quite a nice day, cold of course but I think the rain starts again later.

I hope Yogi's internet problems can be sorted out quickly. It doesn't help when this sort of thing happens over the Christmas break when it becomes harder to get people to sort it out.

Summer, I quite liked the cast in Pemberley. As I have a real dislike for Jennifer Ehle I have never seen that version of Pride and Prejudice. It was interesting to see Anna Maxwell Martin in the role. She's back in The Bletchley Circle in the New Year. It wouldn't surprise me if in years to come she is recognised as a major actress on television and stage.

 

Squiggle, Joan Hickson was good as Miss Marple but there is an old fashioned feel to her series. I have yet to see anyone who has done a really convincing portrayal of the character. I've said before that Anna Massey would have been perfect for the role but she is no longer with us.

 

Has your brother gone home now EL?  I hope you had a good break together.

 

I have never seen Jennifer Ehle in anything else, I did like her in Pride & Prejudice but have nothing else to judge by.

Squiggle, yes, I took my brother to the railway station this afternoon as he's back to work tomorrow. We had a pleasant break over Christmas, thank you

 

It's Jennifer Ehle's face which I can't stand rather than any performance she's done. To me her face is the face of someone who is self satsified. I don't like her mother either - Rosemary Harris.

 

Lol, El, it's Jennifer's facial expressions which helped make her portrayal of Elizabeth so popular
Like Squiggle, I've not seen her in anything else.

Got lots of cuddles and PB was in brilliant form. Grandad took her for a walk round the village, then she got to see the new fish that her uncle had got for my tropical fish tank. Can't remember what kind they are - three Cardinal and three Black somethingorothers! Anyway, PB likes them.

I think the problem might have been with my ipad and not my internet. Hubby said the internet has been fine for him, so I switched off the ipad and switched it on again, and everything seems to be loading okay *touch wood*

She loves the tropical fish. We already had several fish ( but a couple had committed suicide) so we decided to get a few more. I think they might be tetras.

I would think its the movement and the colours that capture her eye Yogi

I think you are right. My middle son has a video of his tank (big tank, the Fish Police son) on his phone and she tries to grab the fish off the screen.

I've just seen tonight's Miss Marple. A very strong warning to any of you who have recorded it to watch.

It is extremely grim and easily the darkest Agatha Christie story I have ever seen.

Really really shockingly black.

By the way the book Endless Night from which this is adapred is not a Miss Marple book, she has been bolted on to this version.
