I hope they do more than talk and something actually gets done now, El.
I got a quote through for my insurance renewal (combined building and contents) and it is not cheap. While I was in the bank, the girl asked if I would be interested in getting a quote for my building and contents insurance (I'd had a quote from them once before and they had obviously kept a note of the forthcoming renewal date). I had time to spare, so got the quote, which was ÂĢ250 less than the quote I had from my current insurer. The level of cover is the same and the excess amount is similar too.
I phoned the insurance broker who sent me the renewal notice and told her I would not be renewing the policy. She asked me why and I told her I had got the same cover for considerably less than they had quoted. She had the cheek to ask me if I would send her a copy of the quote I had been given by my bank, and give them time to try to price match it. I said, no thank you. If she can now root around to find me a policy which is ÂĢ250 less than the one she quoted, why on earth did she not do that in the first place!!!
