Good morning everyone

It's dry here at present but it's bound to rain at some point in the day.

Summer, I like your penny farthing owl

My brother always brings his holiday photos with him though I'm not sure I particularly want to see the photos at Ypres as they will be exclusively WW1 related, war memorials, plaques, trenches etc. He said that there is virtually nothing at Ypres which isn't WW1 related.

Good morning

Overcast here today, we'll all just have to make our own sunshine

El, it's awfully sad the effect of the war on Ypres, I think in a way it's good that they haven't allowed time to forget or cloud over what happened. I do hope there's a bright future there for them all though

What are everyone's plans today?

I'm going to attempt to install a new printer. We bought what we though was a brilliant Kodak one last year and it's been the worst I've ever had! It drinks ink like a leaky petrol tank, and wastes most of it on needing to print test pages to sort out the print fade problems it frequently has. It's a 50/50 chance as to whether it's going to work at all on the day you need it and I've not been able to successfully print 1 photo off it. I take my pics to boots!
On top of that, the updates have to come off the website rather than it's own app, and the links are not clear.
It wasn't cheap either!

I've opted for an HP printer this time which was ÂĢ40 and has great reviews. Please cross your fingers for me

Yogi I hope you had a restful night
~Sparkling Summer~

Glad to hear you are feeling slightly better today Yogi.

I hope you manage to instal the printer OK Summer.  I have a HP one which must be about 15 years old now, so I know the quality is good.  It still performs perfectly but as my (very cheap) scanner has packed up I was thinking of buying a wireless all-in-one, scanner, copier printer now when I can afford to do so.  A friend of mine has one and it seems to be great.

I saw a documentary last night which I had recorded about ghost singers who were routinely used to dub many film musicals where the studios considered that the star's voice wasn't up to what they were looking for. That's been known for many years now and if you look on the IMDB website you will see that they often say who was dubbing who in films.

One thing which I hadn't realised that there is one song in Singin' in the Rain where Debbie Reynold's voice is dubbed. That's a bit ironic considering that the storyline is about Debbie Reynolds being employed to dub Jean Hagen's voice. All of Debbie Reynold's other songs in the film are with her voice, it's just the number "Would You?" which isn't (it's sung by Betty Noyes).

However I have found on Youtube the song as sung by Debbie Reynolds.

I wonder why they chose to dub Debbie Reynolds voice for one song only, El?

I think they felt that Debbie Reynolds' voice at 20 wasn't mature enough to suit the role that the Jean Hagen character was playing in the film ("The Dueling Cavalier") which was being shot in that scene in Singin' in the Rain. It was her first significant film so maybe the producers weren't sure.

That makes sense, El.

*night owls*

Aw I'm very glad to see that yogi is feeling better welcome back

LOVE those christmas tree biscuits!

I hope you've all had a good weekend
I'm pleased to report that the new printer is working perfectly! It's a printer/scanner/copier and was only ÂĢ40 the cartridges are ÂĢ10 each and if the printer works smoothly then I've no doubt it'll save me money because the Kodak printer wasted ink like you wouldn't believe
I'll keep you posted

Moonie, lovely to see things are looking up

Hi Sweet

I'm glad the printer is working okay Sounds like a good buy to me

Fanks muchly

Moonie

Good morning everyone.  I love the owl biscuits   Glad to see you back Yogi and to know that you got plenty of PB cuddles, they do more good than most medicines the doctors can prescribe I reckon.

I am so pleased that you got the printer installed and all went OK.  My that does sound a bargain, can I ask what model it is Summer, as you know I am in the market for one.

Horrible weather here, windy and rainy, I am going to try to stay indoors, grandsons permitting.

Good morning to one and all

The weather dire here. Its bucketing down of rain and the wind is howling. The only good thing is, its fairly warm. This is supposed to be the best day of  this week too

I see Skylark and Squiggle are having bad weather too. I hope it clears up for you both and for everyone else. Though I cant see it happening tbh.

Have a great day everyone in spite of the weather

Moonie

Good morning everyone. Weather is dry atm.

 @ the owl cookies.

PB has ben making lots of little 'whoo' noises recently - she sounds like she is joining in, on our owl madness.

Summer, your all-in-one printer sounds like a bargain.

Squiggle, belated congratulations to your grandson on passing his CBT.

Have a good day, Skylark.

El, Squiggle and Moonie, I hope your weather improves soon.

Been to the nurse for a check up and my flu jab.

Yogi19

At present it's not raining here, but it's still very cloudy and quite windy. There's more rain forecast though throughout the afternoon into the evening.

Yogi, I hope your check up went well. I saw something on the news last week about the possibility of there being a once in a lifetime flu jab being developed so if successful that would mean an end to the annual flu jab.

Good morning
Overcast but dry & mild here so far. Looks like we all need our umbrella's this week!

Squiggle, here's my printer..

Ignore that price though, that's on amazon, but the reviews are good on there. I paid ÂĢ39.99 for it and it came with 2 ink cartridges
Hope that's helpful

Lol at PB's owl noises, she fits right in with us
