I've been watching Whitechapel for weeks and tonight was the final episode. Hubby came downstairs and started chatting to me and I missed the end!

Good morning everyone, I am glad you managed to eat something moonie, although you do need to get some good nutritious food in you.

 

I am hoping to be able to rest the knee(s) a bit more today.  Yesterday me and my youngest grandson were hobbling around together Poor lad some fool of a driver signalled, then stopped dead in the road, so my grandson thought he'd go round him only for the driver to suddenly turn right, knocked him off his motorbike, badly damaged the bike and my poor grandson too.  The ambulance men said he was lucky not to have broken his back.  The police breathalysed them both (my grandson was on his way home from work) and he said they took some time over the other guy so whether he had been drinking I don't know.  Anyway I ran him over to see his bike - a mate of his had brought it back to his house - and he tried to start it, it needs a new exhaust so kept cutting out.  I dropped him back where he lives and he managed to get the garage where he keeps his bike to send the van and pick the bike up and bring it back, they only charged him £15 for that.  Now he will get to work on it.  By rights he should be able to claim on the other guy's insurance but he was so dazed at the time he hasn't got the other guy's details.  He has a witness, one of the other guys coming home from work so maybe he will get somewhere that way.  Time will tell.

Squiggle, it could have been so much worse for your grandson and I'm relieved that he's not seriously injured

Poor lad, he was lucky he wasn't badly hurt! Is it the grandson who is training to be a chef?

I wonder if he or his insurance company could get the other driver's details via the police, as they attended the incident?

That's what I am wondering Yogi, yes he is the chef, he is a Commis Chef now so I don't think he considers himself still learning.  The head chef is leaving, returning to Manchester where his family are from, his wife longs to go back home, so they all move up one.  He is going back to work today so will talk to the other guys.  If that doesn't work he will source parts from a local breaker and get to work on it.

There must have been a lot of horrified Nationwide customers this morning if they looked online at their accounts and found that they had either vanished or had nothing in them. It has been sorted out now, some sort of technical issue,

I don't know if you know anyone who had a variable mortgage with the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank but 22,000 of their customers had been overpaying their mortgage during the 4 years to 2009 and will be getting a letter from the bank. Payouts (likely by reducing the remaining mortgage balance, or cheque if the mortgage has ended) vary between £20 and £18,000 with an average of £970.

Oh no squiggle, your poor grandson! I hope he's alright.
I too would have the police would have the other drivers details, I hope he does claim on their insurance, he shouldn't have to pay out on the bike himself.
Good news about his promotion, I'm glad he's happy in his chosen career

Squiggle, I would hope that the police do give your grandson the insurance details of the driver's car. Even if the police didn't take the insurance details at the time of the accident they are likely to have done a PNC check back at the police station to ensure that the driver had insured the car and would have details of the insurance company, name of insured, car registration, and policy number. What I don't know is if they are permitted to give that to your grandson or, alternatively, to your grandson's insurance company.

That must have been a bit of a shock for the Nationwide customers this morning.

I don't have my mortgage with Clydesdale Bank or Yorkshire Bank, so no rebate for me - unfortunately!

Get this- a very quiet day at work it's been a long time coming!
Then I bumped in to a lovely local lady during my walk, it got dark so we ended up walking our dogs together

How was your day?

Did you have a good natter during your walk?

My day was good. We did the weekly shopping then went for some lunch.

We did thank you, I've not seen her for months, so we had a good catch up. I always thought she was about 40, it turns out she's 55!

That's sounds good yogi, I love eating out and I love the cupboards being fully stocked

I'm always happy when my cupboards are full. Maybe it's because I have read so many books about the Homefront during WW2 when everything was rationed. I'm prepared if they ever reintroduce rationing,
