*enters thread and twirls*

I feel so much better with my hair shorter again.

Brilliant pic of the lightning bolt, Squiggle. I did laugh at El's suggestion (and agree) that it would have been preferable if the lightning had struck that awful statue.

I love the owl bag - there are lots of owl products out there, atm. Helpforheroes have owl Christmas cards on their website.

Good morning everyone, oh no hope your tummy upset clears up quickly Summer, that's the last thing you need.  I hope you do manage to sort your sleep pattern out Yogi, nothing worse than lying awake in the middle of the night, especially if you're tired out and still can't sleep.

It's grey and miserable here and likely to stay that way for most of the weekend, but I hope it might be a bit better where you are, have a good day

Good morning

It's grey & wet here too, the forecast doesn't look to improve much over the weekend.

Thank you all I do feel much better this morning, but I'm starving myself for as long as possible just to get rid of any bugs. I've got some rich tea biscuits ready for later

Here's something to make us smile;
I had an email from Betty's this morning, they've got new autumn items available now...

~Sparkling Summer~

Glad you are feeling a bit better, Summer.

Those owls are gorgeous - too lovely to eat!

I've been trimming, slicing and blanching beans this morning. They are all bagged up and in the freezer now. I think Mr Yogi was pretty impressed with my first attempt at growing runner beans.

Off to the shops to buy a colour for my hair, yesterday's haircut has exposed a couple of stray grey hairs.

See you all later.

Well done on your bean growing and freezing Yogi, good luck with choosing just the right colour too.

I have bought light golden brown, but I find they tend to come out darker than the name would suggest.

Good morning everyone, I agree it's a very cute fabric and would make great wrapping paper.

I hope you slept well Yogi and that your tummy is much better this morning Summer.

I doubt I will catch up with much of CBB as I think I can guess from some of the thread titles who won - a sad day for our society if that's a good role model.

Good morning everyone. A lovely, sunny day up here.

I'm pleased you are feeling better, Summer.

El, I had never heard of paperchase. I've had a quick browse of their website and bookmarked it.

Squiggle, I agree with your comment about the chosen winner for CBB. I think that people like our forum members are no longer the target audience.

Have a good day everyone.

In the current issue of the Radio Times, there's an article by Tim Dowling where he imagines various trans-national television experiments. It follows from the announcement that there would be an episode of Midsomer Murders filmed in Denmark with assistance from the producers of The Killing.

The one I liked most was The Great Folson Prison Bake Off. Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry travel to the US to oversee a baking competition in the kitchens of one of America's most overcrowded maximum security prisons. In the first technical bake off one inmate is praised for his Victoria sponge's even texture, only to be disqualified when it's discovered that his butter cream filling contains a knife.

There's also Strictly Come Danske. An angst-ridden Copenhagen version in which po-faced Danish celebrities perform soul-sapping routines in chunky knitted jumpers, while judges including the irrepressible Craig Revel Horwood become increasingly introspective and morose.

I like this bit best EL

Good morning
A wet, gloomy and windy day here, I'm glad I only plan to paint the bathroom today!

Lol at the Folsom bake-off, I would definitely watch that

Yogi, thank you I'm all better and just fine thank you.
My original plan for yesterday was to finish work and start the decorating, but I then got a call from SIL inviting us to go out for tea. So a mad rush to get ready, get a ride and meet everyone there happened. We didn't get served until late and by the time we drove home it was midnight!
It was a lovely evening though

I will pop back to catch up on everyone's weekend, I'm going to get on with the painting.
Yogi- any PB visits this week?
~Sparkling Summer~

Squiggle, not much rain here yet though it is windy. I hope it's not too bad for our friends in the north.

Summer, I'm glad you had a lovely evening

It's Battle of Britain Sunday today and we had the Airman's hymn at the end. It's not known who wrote it but the music is the same as the well known Eternal Father Strong to Save ----- for those in peril on the sea.

O Ruler of the earth and sky
Be with our airmen when they fly;
And keep them in Thy loving care
Amid the perils of the air.
O let our cry come unto Thee
For those who fly o’er land and sea.

Strong son of man, save those who fly
Swift-winged across the unchartered sky;
Each anxious hour and lonely flight
Serenely challenged, day and night.
O’er land and ocean safely bear
All those in peril in the air.

O Holy Spirit, God’s own power,
Give peace in sudden danger’s hour
Bring calm of heart and be Thou near
To those who watch and those who fear.
To Thee will rise the grateful prayer
Of those who serve Thee in the air.

O Trinity of love and grace,
True guide of all who fly through space;
In peace or war, mid friend or foe,
Be with them whereso’er they go.
So shall our praise with heaven blend

And joyful hearts to Thee ascend

Squiggle, the Battle of Britain Sunday is the first Sunday on or after the anniversary of the battle which was on 15 September 1940 so this year it falls on the 15th itself.

The man who lead the prayers in church today. although he did not fly in the Battle of Britain, he was in the 152 Squadron, many of whom were.

Here he is in a Tempest MK2 in 1946 after the end of WW2.
