Hi yogi did you enjoy strictly? I had to giggle at James, I detest him
Can't wait for the live shows to begin!

I really enjoyed Strictly. I had to laugh at James getting stuck with Vanessa. I reckon that's his punishment for being so gobby with the judges last year.

I like the look of Patrick, Ashley and Ben ( the hunks) and I like Susanna and Fiona, too. I think Natalie will be good but she does have an awful lot of dance training in her background.

I love Dave the hairy biker, he should be funny

What takeaway did you order?

I think she'll be good and she is partnered with Artem, so he will work her hard.

I'm looking forward to the Anton and Fiona partnership, it's about time he got someone half decent. Poor Robin has been landed with the Dragon's Den woman, so I think it might be an early exit for him.

It was Frodo who ordered the takeaway but she didn't say what she was having, I haven't eaten since lunchtime and I'm getting peckish.

Yogi19
That was hours ago! you need a supper now yogi
I had an m&s pizza

Ah yes, ooh maybe Artem has a winner there. I hope Fiona is this season's erm.. Oh, who was billy connelly's mrs?!!!!! She was really good, and no one really expected it. For Anton's sake anyway lol
I hated Karen at first last year but she really grew on me and now I'm looking forward to seeing what she does this year

Pamela Stephenson?

The new male dancer, Kevin, is Karen's RL partner.

Good morning everyone, it's cool here too but dry at the moment, I don't expect that to last.  I think I saw Matilda a year or so ago, was Pam Ferris in it?

I don't get the James hate he seems OK to me.  Kevin is very little isn't he, I wonder whether he is shorter than Vincent?

Off to church soon, have a good Sunday lie-in to those having one

squiggle

Good morning everyone. It's cool, dry and overcast atm.

Squiggle, I think a lot of viewers remember how nasty James was to his celebrity partners during his early series on Strictly, and other viewers find him arrogant and gobby with the judges. What do you think of this year's partnerships? Anyone you like or don't like?

Glad you enjoyed your takeaway, Frodo. I don't like the big Spring Rolls either, but the tiny ones are nice.

El, I watched Matilda with my youngest son - I think he was around 7 or 8 years old - and we both enjoyed it. I always thought Roald Dahl books were a bit scary for kids, but mine seemed to like them.

Have a good day, everyone.

Yogi19
Good morning everyone and what a beautiful one it is too- clear blue skies and bright sunshine. It's chilly, but I don't mind because it's the perfect combination for a good long walk with Bramble

Frodo, your dinner sounds delicious. I love spring rolls and anything with prawns in

The little girl in Matilda was great, I liked her in the modern Miracle on 34th Street too. I often wonder how old she is now and what projects she's worked on since.

The above post sums up my dislike of James Jordan, and add to that, what I call the "Tom Cruise effect" aka, pure repulsion! There's just something about him that makes my skin crawl. I will however be fair and say he did a fantastic job with Pamela Stephenson

I was going to do some paperwork this morning but I seem to have left it at work! I'll just have to do it tomorrow night instead now.

El I hope you're having a lovely weekend with your brother

Summer I know just what you mean about the Tom Cruise effect, he makes my skin crawl too, I just get the feeling with him that he is projecting a false persona.  I don't get that feeling with James, but there again I suppose I find most of the professionals a little meh anyway.  The only one I really took to was the fresh faced American lad who was only in for one series I think and fell in love with his partner, a very pretty girl.  Their waltzes especially brought a lump to my throat.  I like Vincent and Flavia but they're not in it this year.

Yogi I will have trouble coming to any firm conclusions until they start dancing.  Mark Benton makes me chuckle and he manages to look like an unmade bed no matter what they put him in   So he could be a laugh. I think Fiona Fullerton will be interesting, I hope.  I like Abby Clancey although I have the feeling that the rest of the forum may not, and time will tell whether she turns out to be nice or nasty.  I don't like Vanessa Feltz and I don't think I will like Deborah Meaden, the Dragons Den lady, I don't watch Dragons Den so I don't really know her but she looks like she could be bossy. What about your first impressions?

Message from Lori to Frodo. She tried to send you a PM/dialog but can't as you've put a block on receiving any.

She says not to put anything in the coupon box (there are no coupons available) and that your Halifax Visa card should work assuming that it has the normal 16 digits on credit cards.

Hope this helps you. If it doesn't then you will need to through the menu Manage - Your Account - Personal Settings, untick "Prevent New Dialogs From Being Sent To You", Update Settings. Then let me know, I'll let Lori know, and then she can open a private dialog with you.

I'll copy this in Hicky's thread as you often go there.

I've dropped my brother at the railway station after a pleasant weekend. He's coming down again in 4 weeks time.

Squiggle, you are right Pam Ferris was in Matilda as Miss Trunchbull, a horrific character.

Summer, Matilda was played by Mara Wilson. It's remarkable that she was able to be as good as she was when you learn that her mother died during the filming. She's now 26. After university she indicated that she wanted a quieter life and wouldn't return to films. She lives in New York, does some stage acting, voice acting and writing (moving into books and plays). She's writing her first novel and hopes to break into young adult books. A picture of her as she is now:

Hello all

sorry about last night ..the meal was good though Iwas not being unkind but the lady ...was very hard to understand .

I cant comment on things you see I need to read back and understand your likes to get to know you ,I'm the one wanting to find out how to join in ,just popping in and out .

I think I have said I am an animal lover and had a horrific flea problem this year ,sprays flea bombs a fortune at the vets in the end all carpets are up and floor sanding is on the menu ,felt like an absolute scruff ..believe me tried every thing .

Will I get slaughtered if I love Courtney and lauren and finding Abz tugging at me Vicky is another favourite ...agreeing or not nice to find something that brings people together ...sees you all xx

FM

Hi frodo, I sympathise about the flea problem, our beagle Ben used to love to play with the hedgehogs in the garden, of course came in covered in fleas.  I used to go mad with the flea spray, I was paranoid about them getting a foothold, it feels horrible.

I really like Courtney, she is a sweet girl, not so sure about Lauren, 2 sides to her I think.  It's lovely to have you pop in,  I am glad the meal was good and I can well understand you find the lady difficult to understand.  I feel very embarrassed when I speak to someone on the phone and struggle with their accent, I feel I am being rude.

squiggle

Evening all. We had a nice afternoon with youngest son and his gf.

Frodo, we do like our animals in this thread, especially dogs. My dog has never had a flea problem but I do sympathise, as I believe they can be a pain to get rid of.

As far as CBB is concerned, I have no real favourite, but I think Abz is a nice guy (although he is a bit quiet), Courtney seems nice and I think she is smarter than her bimbo look would suggest, and Vicky seems grounded and pretty likeable.

Squiggle, apart from the hunks (Patrick, Colin and Ashley) I also like Susanna and Fiona and I do like Mark, too. No idea who will be any good at dancing, and I may change my mind once I get to know them.

Glad you had a nice weekend with your brother, El. Did you eat all of the cakes?

Yogi19
evening

Aw Frodo, I didn't realise you had a drinkie last night, I too had a couple of glasses of wine! I think I've gone off wine though, I didn't enjoy it.
We certainly do like animals around here dogs & owls especially! Love the family guy pic- Brian & Stewie have always been my favourites.

Yogi, I'm pleased you had a lovely visit from your son & his girlfriend
And El I'm glad you enjoyed your brother's visit- did you have a game of anything? Thanks for the Mara info, I can't believe she's 26!!!!! How very sad that her mother died during filming

Squiggle, I like Courtney too
I've always been a Katie Holmes fan and thought she was mad to have married Tom Cruise, but their little girl is adorable
As for Strictly, I definitely won't like Abbey Clancy, but so far I do like Sophie Ellis Bexter, the girl from Corrie and Hairy Biker Dave. I love Pasha! Deborah is a dragon on the den, but she's a smart lady who seems to give worthwhile people a chance, but doesn't waste any time with idiots. I think we'll see a lighter side to her personality on strictly.
As for the the rest, I can't wait to get to know them better
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Leaden skies and rain here today.

Yogi, there's one chocolate cake and one caramel cake left so they won't last much longer

Summer, we generally play computer adventure games. There's fewer coming out nowadays. We've been playing one of the Sam & Max games. They are "Freelance Police" called in to solve insane cases such as saving Easter Island from being destroyed by a volcano, a possessed Santa, and a vampire who has set up a zombie factory.

Max is the rabbit, Sam the dog.

Good morning everyone.  Yogi I am glad your day went so well, and also with your weekend with your brother EL.  Those type of games aren't so popular at the moment but maybe their popularity will come back again.

Glad you managed to catch up with the housework Summer, I've been doing some before breakfast this morning.  I've done the upstairs and given the washing machine powder drawer a jolly good scrub out, I hate it when it goes all black from the softener.

I've been busy ordering personalised bookmarks for my friends, I started out with one for my grandson, then quickly ordered two more, one for the friend in hospital I am going to see on Friday and another for the friend I am going with.  I was mentioning these in church yesterday to another friend and I could see from her face that she would like one so I ordered one for her, one for her husband and then one for the friend who is coming with me tomorrow to my new dentist.  The lady who does them (on ebay) is very pleased with me

Good morning everyone. Cool and dry, with lots of low cloud, up here.

I love Summer's autumnal owl pic from last night and Squiggle's beautiful pic from this morning.

Two cakes left, El, I think that was quite restrained of you and your brother.

Squiggle, by the sounds of it, you will be the lady on Ebay's best customer. I'm sure your friends and family will appreciate the bookmarks. A personalised and practical present is always a good idea.

I hope Moonie and Skylark are back soon, I miss them.

Have a good day, everyone.

Squiggle, personalised gifts are so thoughtful, what a wonderful idea. I bet the lady who makes them is delighted!

That's the spirit Summer Santa will triumph.  The bookmarks are only 99p each and as I have ordered so many she is giving me back some postage as she says I have paid too much.  I do like dealing with fair minded people. (I was going to put dealing with fair people but then I thought it sounded brunnetteist )
