Good morning everyone

Fairly cloudy and has been raining here but is forecast to become warm and sunny.

Normally my brother would be visiting me this weekend as in England Monday is a bank holiday but because of the Swindon/Kemble stretch of the railway track being closed making journeys longer he's coming in 2 weeks time.

However yesterday an engineering train was derailed on that track and around 4 miles of track has been damaged. It is unknown just how much longer the track will remain closed but it is now probable that it affect my brother's journey. He will have already paid for the journey so I doubt he will change his plans, just that the journey will be about 50 minutes longer.

Good morning everyone. It's a cloudy and mild this morning.

Not long until your brother's next visit, El. It's a shame that the journey time will be quite a bit longer but I guess it can't be helped with the ongoing work on the rail line.

Liked the owl pic, Summer. I think he's definitely winking.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone, dare I say it?  Summer your owl looks almost CHRISTMASSY!!!!!

It's a nice morning here, a bit fresher thank goodness.  We seem to be getting a bit of an odd bunch in CBB be interesting to see how they all shake down together.  Wish we still had the likes of Jack Dee and Dirk Benedict though - they were in different CBB's but they were interesting people.

I agree with you about Dirk and Jack. Sadly, I think we are more likely to get people from Made In Chelsea and Geordie Shore. Which means I won't know who any of them are!

What's worrying me is that I think C5 are deliberately aiming for conflict rather than harmony.  I know that in the series that Dirk was in there was conflict from Jade etc with Shilpa but that was not deliberately engineered.  I think that is the aim from the outset with C5 and I think it ruins the programme.  Friendly rivalry yes, aggression no.

Trying out a new product on the oven cleaning front.  One of those where you stick your oven shelves in a big bag and leave overnight, will report back

Do you have a link please El?

The BBC has a little maths quiz (7 questions) based on the sort of questions expected in a GCSE exam.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23779549

You will need a calculator which can do basic trig functions like sine, cosine and tangents for the second question.

I did the quiz and I got all questions correct but I would have been horrified if I hadn't as maths was easily my strongest subject at school.

Although it's currently on the Google home page that won't remain, so here's the permanent link where there's more info about it. The video is at the top.

Maths was my worst subject, so I think I'll give it a miss!

It has finished the cycle, El but I think an engineer might be required.

That's good.

Keira is rolling about on her back on the grass, as I type. So much for grooming her yesterday!

I need to check, but I think it's a couple of years old - or maybe that's the tumble dryer. *goes off to check*

I have checked and it is out of guarantee.  I go through nearly as many washing machines as I do vacuum cleaners!

 See you later.

Awww sorry to hear that Yogi

Hope you sort it out  See you later

Moonie

We had a vacuum cleaner for at least 10 years. One day it stopped working. Fuse was okay. Tinkered with it. Still nothing. So packed it all away. Purchased a new one from Asda. It worked okay until it was out of warranty then 'boom' a puff of smoke and it declined to work

So went back to the ten year old one. Changed the bag (which I had already changed). Cleaned out one filter and purchased another filter and changed that(it has two filters). Its still working now  In fact it lifts the carpet off the floor it has so much 'suck'

Any advance on 22 years?

Cheeky!

Well done EL, what make is yours?

It's an Electrolux Turbo made in the days when things were built to last years.

I saw a client a couple of weeks ago and used his Casio calculator which was very old, probably around 30 years old.

I think it still is in use, either that or planned obsolescence. The manufacturers argue that they wasnt to keep the product as cheap as possible as they think that technology advances will mean that people will want to move to a newer model in a few years time. VHS tapes, then DVDs, then Blu-ray discs. And Sony & Panasonic have announced plans for the successor to Blu-Ray discs by the end of 2015 which can hold 6 times as much data as a Blu-ray. It's for ultra high-def movies.

Why was it never mentioned on all the reviews I read, prior to purchase?!

I wonder if there are any adverse reviews on Amazon. I don't know what make yours is but this is a starting point on Amazon for washing machines and the chances are that yours will be mentioned.
