That's good and I'm glad you are pleased with your decorated hall and stairs.

Hi Sweet(now departed to the land of nod) and Yogi

Sweet glad you did some more of your painting and had a quiet day afterwards  sorry to hear Mr Summer had a migraine but glad is a little better now

Yogi, pleased PB came to see you and you had a 'cuddles top-up'

Nite nite both. Sleep well and have sweet dreams

Moonie

Good morning everyone, good luck with the hygienist EL.  It will be good to have it over and done with.

I love it when babies start to try to join in with the chatter, it's the way they learn.  I am glad your decorating turned out so well Summer. Moonie nice that you are back with us.

We had lots of showers yesterday but only while we were in the car.  Such a beautiful part of the world, we were in the Shaftesbury area of Dorset.  Such beautiful churches and houses.   Would love to go and stay there and have a good potter about.

Have a good day everyone.

squiggle

Squiggle, it's likely that my visits to the hygienist will become regular. The plaque build up may be the result of a side effect of the medication I am on rather than anything else - I have checked this out and it is a known side effect though rare.

I'm pleased you had a pleasant day out yesterday. I went past Shaftesbury when I went to Dorchester which I mentioned a few days ago.

El Loro

Good morning everyone. Weather is breezy and showery.

Sorry I missed you last night, Moonie. I nodded off straight after I posted goodnight to Summer. Hope you will manage to pop in today.

Summer, I missed the part of your post about Mr Summer's migraine. Is he feeling better now?

Good luck at the hygienist, El. Your 'round 2' comment made me smile.

Sounds like you had a great day, Squiggle. I've never been to that part of the country but it does sound lovely.

Big H is here for Doggy Daycare, so Keira is happy. They are both snoozing atm.

Have a good day everyone.

Yogi19
Good morning overcast but mild here today, and I've had a busy start. El, good luck at the hygenist, I hope it's not painful and they take good care of you Squiggle, I'm happy to hear you had a lovely day out- isn't it nice to explore new areas, especially historical ones Yogi, I had to giggle at your falling asleep fast like I did I bet Keira & Harvey are having a great day so far! Bramble is currently fast asleep too Mr summer will feel very tired and fuzzy for a couple of days but he was in fairly good spirits this morning, we've drawn a line with fast food now because I think a lowered immune system contributes to his migraine attacks so we'll be food shopping tonight. Real food for real dinners
~Sparkling Summer~

Sorry to hear that Mr Summer had a migraine, hope he feels better soon.  Is his immune system low at the moment?  Can he give it a boost?  I take echinacea which boosts mine.

What an unfortunate side effect EL hope all goes well.  I am thinking of changing to a private dentist.  I am with an NHS one at the moment but new NHS charges mean 2 fillings or more cost over ÂĢ200 and I was talking to a friend who goes to a private one and she has a dental plan and only pays ÂĢ100 per year, seems to make sense.

squiggle
Yes squiggle, after everything he's been through looking after his mum and with everything that's needed doing since her passing, taking the time to cook properly hasn't been a high priority, but it's time to change that now. He's a fan of berrocca, I'll make sure we pick some up tonight I hope you find a dentist that's more suitable for you, it's a bit baffling isn't it- I changed mine again btw. I wasn't happy with the last one's assessment of 5 fillings needed, it means having a hole in one tooth a while longer but it doesn't hurt and I can wait
~Sparkling Summer~

A little bit of home cooking and I am sure Mr Summer will be on the mend.  What grief does to a body is amazing, even if you feel you are coping the body has a different agenda and all sorts of odd things can occur.  I found when I lost my hubby I didn't even have the lovely memories at first, it took about a year for the first shockwave to pass.  But the memories slowly start to steal in and it is such a comfort.  When we were driving back yesterday they were playing on our local radio the top ten from 1962 when we were courting and it was like being back there again, as the song says 'those funny old familar feelings'.  I was sharing the memories with my family and my hubby felt very close.

I don't trust my dentist since they got taken over, I feel they are pushing you into expensive treatment all the time and I don't know whether I really need something done or they just want to make money.  I need a dentist I can trust again.  Like you I am told I need two fillings but I have no pain and although I am a little nervous of something getting worse without me knowing it I feel I want a second opinion.

Hi Moonie, good to see you back.

I've been chatting on the phone to my best friend.

Then I had to clean my oven - horrible job!

Yogi19

I'm back from the scale and polish and my teeth now glow in the dark . Next visit to the dentist is in just over a month's time for a filling, then a return visit to the hygienist in November as a 3 month follow up.

Moonie, I hope you are OK today.

Summer, the stress from a bereavement can be a trigger for migraines. Fast foods can also be a trigger due to high fat content and in the case of Chinese takeways too much monosodium glutamate.

Squiggle, it's nice to have those good memories.

Lovely pearly whites, El.

Yogi19
Aw squiggle, how lovely that your good memories came back and that you feel you can share them with people now I had a similar experienced after my dad died, it was very sudden and I was so shocked that my childhood memories vanished! It took a little while but they gradually returned, things like songs, smells etc would trigger them. I hope you hurt a little less when you remember him these days, I'm sure he prefers to see you smiling than anything else

I'd like to have pearly white teeth but I'm not convinced about the long term safety of bleaching/whitening procedures.

I agree with you Yogi, I have heard of people left in agony after whitening with terribly sensitive teeth.  Call me a coward but I wouldn't be prepared to risk it.  Mine are as white as I can get them with a good whitening toothpaste but I won't go further than that.  We don't want to look like Rylan now do we?

One of my clients rang me a short time ago in a state of panic. She has just received a new tax code for her job. The tax code has been changed from the code for a personal allowance to D0. D0 means that everything is taxed at 40%.

That means that instead of about ÂĢ430 being deducted each month, ÂĢ1200 will be Her state of panic is totally justified.

As her tax agent I was able to print off the tax code and then realised that there were two tax codes. One for Gloucestershire Primary Care NHS Trust and one for Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. I did a spot of Googling and found that the GPC one is a new trust which came into existence from April 1 and confirmed with my client that this is now her employer.

I then rang HMRC on the tax agent phone line. They have agreed to issue a new tax code for the GPC one with her personal allowance. Hopefully the trust will get that revised tax code before they run the next payroll.

And now the big news.

HMRC told me the reason why they had issued the two D0 tax codes was because they have not received any paperwork about the change of employment from the trusts so they had therefore no choice but to assume that my client was being paid by both trusts.

It is very unlikely that my client is the only person affected and it is quite possible that everyone who works for these trusts may be in the same position. The trust covers many of the children's services, district nurses, school nurses, community hospitals, dentists, and many others. I don't think it covers the main hospitals, GPs or ambulance workers.

The tax authority taking this line does not surprise me.  Many years ago when I was a child my sister used to do the wages for my father's garage business - car repairs, car recovery, panel beating, petrol sales, used car sales etc, and I used to help with putting the money in the wage packets.  He employed quite a few workers.  I clearly remember that if the Revenue did not feel they had enough information on a new employee they were put on emergency tax code which meant they paid a very large amount of their weekly wage on tax.  Of course they immediately protested to my sister.  This was of course PAYE and not filing tax returns.
