I won't tell you what my neighbours round here in deepest darkest Devon think of people who move to the country and then complain about noisy sheep, cows, church bells and country smells - needless to say it's not very flattering.   I love to hear the sheep outside my bedroom window, and the church bells too, cockerels greeting the dawn, cows mooing and owls hooting at night.

rural noises win over city ones, every time, imo.

Its a lot cooler here today Sweet but I cant have me front windows open in case the wasps, that are still alive pay me a visit

Yay on getting the wasp nest sprayed. Why do they need an inspector to come out before they fill in the hole? It's not like they don't know the hole is there, as that is how the wasos were getting in. Councils are dumplings!

Yep, Yogi our council is one HUGE dumpling. They never do anything without an inspectors say-so

It's the same up here. When we decorated the back bedroom, hubby phoned the refuse department for a 'special uplift'. The girl asked for a list of items to be uplifted then said someone would have to go out to determine how long it would take two of their employees to lift it from our back garden into their lorry. Hubby said it would take them less than five minutes, but we had to wait for someone to come out and confirm it. Then we had to wait for someone else to come and collect it - and this is a service we are charged for, it's not free!

that just about takes the biscuit, doesn't it Yogi?

Here we have to put stuff to be collected on the edge of the property, the night before collection. They charge ÂĢ35 and that is only for a certain amount of items. Beds count as two items

If you are a senior citizen you are allowed so many black bags and items, once a year for free

I wonder what make them attractive to butterflies *scratches chin*

They are attracted by the nectar in the flowers on buddleia  - more info on this link:

That's even more expensive than ours!

I've just read your post to Mr Yogi and he says you can understand why flytipping happens.

We take most smaller stuff to the tip/recycling centre and only get uplifts for large things like beds, furniture etc, but people who don't have a car have no option but to ask for uplifts.

 Thanks for the link, El.

I like to think my buddleia plant is helping the butterflies and bees.

Yep, we have a lot of flytipping, as Mr Yogi says. So in the long run it costs the council more because they have to send crews out to remove it. Makes no sense to me at all tbh Yogi. Same here too about taking stuff to the tip. You need a car/van and have to make an appointment too

You are right, flytipping costs the council more in the long run.

I am eating a pink grapefruit yoghurt - it's a wee bit sour.

I don't like yoghurt Yogi

I go through spells when I eat it a lot, then I don't touch it for months.

 Not mentioning any names.

Good luck with the glossing tomorrow. It will soon be finished and your hall will look lovely.

Moonie, you seem to get a lot of thunderstorms, is this normal weather in your area?

Yep, it is for the summer Yogi
