Summer, I agree that Jane Austen looked very fresh faced. She died when she was only 41 which is why you won't find any pictures of her as older.

The Royal Bank of Scotland still continues to issue some ÂĢ1 bank notes:

I'm glad you survived your S&P ordeal, El.

Shame we didn't speak then, or you could have popped in for some tea and cakes.

Moonie

My mother believed that it was dangerous to make phone calls when there was thunder and lightning in case the telephone cable got struck. That's not an urban myth and there are cases of people being electrocuted as a result. Of course that's more likely if you are living in a house which is higher than other houses such as on a hill. Also it couldn't apply to Virgin Media cable lines as they are at ground level and are made of optical cable.

A few weeks ago I had a new Virgin super hub to replace my old Virgin modem. Its rubbish

Moonie

Moonie, I still use a router with my Virgin broadband. If I do change the router for one of those super hubs I will have it wired to my computer rather than wireless as

a) I have the one computer so don't need wireless

b) as I do people's tax returns I transit confidential information via broadband so need to minimise the risk of some character out in the road trying to hack in

and c) I am fairly certain that quite a few of the problems with flaky connection with super hubs are resolved by using wired rather than wireless connection. Wired is more reliable than wireless.

Thing is El, three lappys and desktop are used in various parts of the house, very seldom all at one time, so hard wiring is out.

After an initial hiccup, my hub has been fine, although it doesn't have the range of the old router, so I can't use my ipad when I am sitting in the back garden.

What problems are you having with yours, Moonie?

Mine was really slow so I phoned up and they changed the 'channel' I was on, and it's been great ever since. Might be worth giving them a call.

I hope you get it sorted. 'Exaggerate' how slow it is and how long you've had the problem.
