I may have had a bang on the head because (after watching last night's HLs) I kinda hope that Gina and Dexter stay on Friday. I think there may be other sides to them which we haven't yet seen. On the other hand, I have seen more than enough of Sallie and I don't like any of it, so I hope she goes.

*checks for lumps* yet there's a lump there

That's my excess brain matter.

It's a shopping centre built in the 60s on the outskirts of Cheltenham and is for the people who live or work in that part of Cheltenham.

Of course, it would be better to have real shops but it does look less depressing than empty shops.

Cute pic, Squiggle, it made me smile.

I actually woke up with a headache, which I find I get if I sleep too long.

Two cups of tea and my headache has gone. Glad your headache has gone too.

I've just received a letter from my brother. The council plans for the library cut backs in his area are still moving forward. Various options being considered and nothing specific yet announced but with the number of team leaders such as my brother being cut from 17 to 5 or 6 gives you an idea as to just how savage these cuts will be. It's possible that some may be offered part time jobs and using his words "some people will be assimilated".

My brother has been under no illusion for some months that he along with many others will be made redundant next March. Over the years my brother has been working in various libraries in that council at times he has been dealing with local history books and queries from the public so local heritage is something which he would have knowledge.

The smaller libraries will be closed down or run on a volunteer basis and the council will just keep the largest ones going.

I've had quite a laugh today- who knew a watering can could cause so much trouble... A friend of mine has asked me to water her vegetable patch while she's on holiday, but when I went round I discovered there was no hose! Plus, I couldn't find a watering can, her garden shed is locked and I tried every key I could find with no success. I resorted to ferrying water in the washing up bowl! So I decided to just buy a cheap watering can and leave it there... Simple you'd think? Afraid not. I tried 2 different pounds hops, they're full of gardening supplies and a lot of horrid, tacky decorations. Neither sell watering cans! So I drove to homebase and had to pay ÂĢ7 for one. (I'm not tight, I just know she'll have one in that shed) and then the skies went black threatening rain which meant I wouldn't need it tonight anyway It turns out the rain didn't quite fall as predicted, so I should get to use it tonight after all

Oh my word Sweet. That's some adventure over a watering can

Moonie

Those are pretty savage cuts, El. I feel for your brother and the other library staff.

At least, as you say, he has been aware for some time that redundancy was likely and has been able to prepare himself for it. I'm glad that he will be able to manage financially and has also planned some occupation for all the extra free time.

Summer, your watering can exploits made me laugh. I hope you get the chance to use it tonight.

Good news that your MiL is considered well enough for a little trip around the hospital. The change of scene might help to lift her spirits.

Moonie, I'm glad your back is no worse and hope it is soon better.

Squiggle, have you tried your new cereal yet? Will you let me know how you get on with it please?

I've been to the bank and done the weekly grocery shopping and now I'm having a nice cold glass of pear and elderflower sparkling water.

I am babysitting all day tomorrow, and pink bundle is arriving before 8am, so if I am not around, you'll know why.

You are a wonderful friend Summer

Yogi I tried the cereal today.  It's a light texture - not full of bran - like the old Special K used to be but sadly there is quite an unpleasantly artificial taste, well to my taste buds anyway, sorry to anyone else who buys and loves the Sainsburys one.  So I will try some different ones when my groceries are delivered this week and hope I can track down a good one.  I have also sourced dried peaches and apricots so if all else failed I might try those with, say, cornflakes or something.  I don't want to add sugar as I am diabetic and I find I do need it on cornflakes.

Thanks for the feedback, Squiggle.

I have tried corn flakes with chopped up strawberries, which was quite nice.
