It's clouding over here now though still quite warm.

 

On the radio this morning they said that Esther Williams had died. I don't think I've ever seen any of her films but she made quite a few musicals in the 1940s and 1950s where she did synchronised swimming musical routines.

 

The person interviewed said that Esther Williams had been mainly helped by Busby Berkeley who was the top choreographer of musicals in the 1940s and 1950s. Those dates sounded a bit odd to me and I checked it out. His best work was throughout the 1930s and early 40s though did continue work into the early 50s. I associate him mainly with the early 30s films like 42nd Street and a couple of the Gold Diggers films.

Everyone put their feet up, that's an order!

I remember seeing some Esther Williams films EL, it was sort of early synchronised swimming with a very thin plot.  She was amazing though, sort of Olympic fit and looked good wet, I suppose that was a requirement.  I liked those Busby Berkeley things, they were quite fascinating and must have been even more so to those early audiences.

Squiggle, Esther Williams would almost certainly have been in the Olympics in the non-existent 1940 and 1944 ones which of course never took place because of WW2.

 

I too liked those Busby Berkeley early films and they are impressive given that they didn't have the benefit of CGI effects we get nowadays.

Good to hear it squiggle I'm itching to have some quiet time with my book

I've been waiting since last week for my large client to have their data disk ready for me so that I can start the work. I rang their book-keeper yesterday morning and she said she was almost there by not quite. I knew she was going off on holiday from tonight so I was hoping to get the disk before she went otherwise I wouldn't be able to start.

 

I hadn't heard from her today so I rang her shortly after 3. She said she had been trying to ring me several times since 10 am as the disk was ready. I was a bit puzzled as I've been in all day and have only had a couple of shortish phone calls. It turned out that she had been ringing the phone number of the colleague of mine who died 3 years ago. Not surprisingly there had been no answer,

 

Anyway I've got the disk now so I can start.

Good job you phoned her then EL, she would have gone on holiday and left you unable to get on with the job otherwise.

Mine are well and truly up Sweet  I hope yours are too

Earlier tonight, I got an unexpected visit from eldest son, DiL and the pink bundle.

Cuddle tank is fully topped up. She gives great snuggles and I've even forgiven her for the little bit of milky sick she left on my top.
