Is MiL in hospital for tests or treatment?

Oh another pretty owl pic, yellow is my sunshine colour  Summer, the cushions were pretty colours and they had applique'd messages on them that were smiley and positive, happy cushions  Lol at you on the zip wire, you're braver than me  I'd have trust issues about will the wire snap lol. Same as I'd never do something like a parachute jump in case it didn't open. Anyway I have real problems with heights, even the kitchen step ladder makes me feel unsafe lol.

Night night and hugs to all the owlets and others here, sleep cosily in your nests tonight.

Good morning everyone. It's a bit cloudy atm, hopefully some sun will break through later.

What a sweet night owl, Summer.

I hope your MiL feels rested after her first night in hospital and they are taking good care of her.

YR, your cushions sound lovely, and I agree with you about parachute jumps etc, I'd always be afraid of chutes not opening or wires breaking.

I have the weekly shopping to do this afternoon and a pile of ironing waiting to be done - exciting stuff!

Have a good day all.

Total cloud cover here at present, supposed to be sunny later.

I've had a busy start on the forum today with finding & dealing with a total of 10 spam threads having been posted this morning. I think that's possibly a record for this site.

I noticed them, El. We seem to be getting these spam threads, more and more often.

We've been getting the spam threads for a long time. Until recently they seemed to be done around 4/5 in the morning so we got to remove them first thing. But the more recent ones have been done a few hours later which means it's more likely to be spotted by others.

Good morning everyone, Summer I am glad your MiL is being taken good care of, I hope she is coping with the sudden admission though, it must have been a bit disconcerting.

Yogi I know that the rain must have been disappointing but I would think it would help the new grass seeds to germinate

Yellow Rose I'm with you on the heights thing, I am a bit wobbly on step ladders and even kiddy rides make me feel queasy, I'm such a wimp.  Hi Velvet nice to see you in here.

Good point about the rain and the grass seed, Squiggle.

Have a nice day all

Here it's a bit less cloudy than it was and there are bits of blue sky so it's very slowly improving.

As I speak (well type)  The sun and some blue sky have appeared whoohoo!

Sun and blue sky here too.

Youngest son is coming for dinner tonight. I asked what he'd like for dinner and he said"Something chickeny and healthy". *gets out recipe books*

Yogi19

Yogi, poached chicken (skinless breasts in water sufficient to cover them with half an inch water above their top, bring water to boil, then reduce to a bare simmer, partially cover the pot, cook for 10 minutes once the water is simmering, then turn the heat off and leave the chicken to finish cooking in the hot water for a further 10-15 minutes) served with boiled potatoes and vegetables. That is likely to be as healthy a meal as any

Thanks El. I have some nice baby potatoes, fresh green beans and carrots, and some chicken breasts, so I could do that recipe,

I think he is more worried about calories than salt, so adding chicken stock is a good idea and will add flavour.

From time to time I get takeway flyers pushed through my door from takeaways. I haven't ordered a takeaway for many years but I though I would have a look at what the Food Standards agency had to say about one place where a flyer has just landed on the hall floor. It's for a place which sells kebabs and other things.

The score on a scale of 0 to 5 was 0. "Urgent Improvement Necessary"

I think I will put the flyer in the recycle bin and go without a kebab (not that I've ever had one)

El Loro

Just had another kebab place posting a flyer through my door. They must be competing with each other.

This one says it's Halal. On the BBC on Monday there was a Fake Britain programme about fake food. One of these was on Halal takeways which supply pizzas. Ham is a very popular topping on pizzas but of course is prohibited under Halal. The item in Fake Britain was about some of the takeaways which specified ham as one of the toppings but substituted turkey in place. Although no issue about food safety but the programme did say that this was misleading and such Halal takeaways needed to amend their menus to say turkey instead of ham.

The takeaway's menu includes some pizzas. So I thought I would have a look. You can guess what I found They obviously hadn't been watching Fake Britain.
