Some of you may wish to watch this film The Gospel according to St Matthew, possibly over the week to Easter Sunday. It was directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini in 1964 and is therefore in Italian with English subtitles. It does assume that the viewer has some familarity with that gospel.

Pasolini was a communist and that shows in the treatment of the film in tending to showing Jesus almost as a Marxist revolutionary. Some of the music selected by him for the film does seem to be a bit surprising. The most questionable element was his decision to cast his own mother as the older Mary the mother of Jesus and it's not helped by the fact that she was 73 at the time the film was made which was far too old.

Putting those to one side, the film is to many the closest to being the most authentic film of the life of Jesus. Jesus is not the good looking Anglo Saxon man generally shown in films, there's no special effects, all the actors are non-professionals and there are no big names. It's pure and austere and powerful.

The extraordinary thing was that Pasolini was an athiest but made such a memorable film.

Thats good. Have just been out doing some shopping, trying to avoid going out now as much as possible. My ears hurt in the cold. I should wear ear muffs like the kids My daughter,s birthday tomorrow so got some goodies in for her. Just having a wee tea for her. Got her a cake, much like El,s and will put some candles on. She is insisting she is 30, she isnt, she is 29! I should know

@ the birth certificate. There aren't many women who insist on telling people they are older than they actually are.

I remember putting a load of washing out for my mum many, many years ago. Fetched it in some hours later and it was all as stiff as a board

I saw this on my local news website today

FOOTBALLING fun hit the back of the net with shoppers courtesy of Cheltenham Town Football Club.

The Robins unveiled their new inflatable penalty shoot-out kit at the town's Asda store, inviting customers to come along and try their luck.

The high-tech equipment has sensors which measure how hard the ball is travelling when it hits the net.

Robins mascot Whaddney was on hand to promote it. (comment by me - the name comes from the ground being in Whaddon Road)

Club spokesman James Brown said: "It's a great piece of kit and it certainly went down very well with customers at Asda.

"It is something we have bought which will enable us to be more visible out and about in the community.

"People can come along and test the strength of their penalty taking. At the same time we give out discount vouchers for tickets so hopefully it will have an impact on getting more people to home matches.

"Some of our first team players have had a go at it and they can get it up to about 60mp,h but the highest a member of the public has got it so far is 44mph."

The kit will next be on show at the Robins' home game against Northampton Town on Easter Monday.

Here's a photo of the mascot:

I got the Chinese but wish I hadn't. The chicken was dried up and chewy.

Have a good weekend, Skylark. Hope you get some chill out time for yourself.
