Good morning everyone

Cold start here but the sun is getting rid of the frost. At present there isn't a cloud in the sky but it's forecast to become overcast this afternoon and there's rain tomorrow and the day after and the day after that etc.

I won't be around much today as I have a tax course this morning and an accounting update course this afternoon.

Yogi, good luck with the carpet fitters and try not to murder any more plants in the process

El Loro

Good morning everyone, a really hard frost overnight, that Jack Frost really is a killer Yogi it's really not your fault

Hope all goes well with the tax course and the accounting update EL.  And with the carpet fitters Yogi, what colour carpet did you choose?

I love clean fluffy hair and I am so picky about shampoos, the wrong shampoo and my hair goes too greasy and that drives me mad.

Good morning and what a glorious one too! The frost hardened the ground solid so bramble and I could walk through some usually muddy places this morning, then the sunrise was beautiful and the frosty paths looked like diamonds! It was one of those walks where I thank my lucky stars for my life and could have stayed out for hours Good luck at the courses today el, I hope both go well. Yogi, good luck with the carpet, you must lay on it after it's down What are your plans today squiggle? Did you sleep well? Good morning skylark and moonie, I hope you both had a good evening last night

Summer, what a perfect start to your morning. Shame you didn't have your camera to capture it.

Yogi19

Hi Summer I am planning a quiet day, it's been a bit hectic recently.  Not sleeping too well at the moment, I wake up in the middle but then drift off again, I just go with the flow, I am warm and cosy and am probably dozing on and off anyway.  Still trying to get my grandson's shoulder sorted believe it or not, he is not receiving the letters, they have put him down as a persistent DNA, his GP is hoping to get round the problem but quite frankly the specialist is being an absolute twerp about it.  Most consultants are wonderful people but you do occasionally come across the odd one don't you?

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day, it's so lovely out but I know the rain will start tomorrow.  I managed to get my car polished and a protective top coat on it, it's shining like it's fresh out of the showroom.  And I have defeated the squirrel that's been pinching all the bird food.  We got a feeder which has a weight system, if the birds sit on it it's fine but if the squirrel tries to clamber aboard it shuts down all the ports.  Well he managed to get around it didn't he?  It was hanging near the tree and believe it or not he managed to cling onto the tree and just put his little snout in the ports So I bought a hanging basket bracket and my grandson screwed it to the tree yesterday, the squirrel sat and thought about it this morning but so far has given up in disgust.  I will keep you posted.

How frustrating for your grandson,Squiggle. I hope his GP can sort things out for him.

I have been using a lavender pillow spray and it seems to be helping me to sleep at night. Have you ever tried it? It's no fun when your sleep is disturbed, it tends to make you lethargic during the day. You have my sympathy.

Carpet fitter has been. It is a light digestive biscuit colour.

The young man who fitted it was so smiley, polite and helpful. I'm going to phone the company and tell them he's a credit to them.

Off to do the weekly shop now.

Yogi19

Well done Yogi, I am a firm believer in giving praise where it's due.  I haven't tried a pillow spray but it happens every now and then, as I say I'm not too bothered, and often I think I am dozing and waking up and convinced that I have been awake all the time.  The clue is have I heard the cuckoo clock and often I haven't so I haven't been awake the whole time.

Sounds like a good choice for the carpet, I bet the room is looking lovely now.

I'm back from the courses. The tax course was the morning session. There have been so many changes that there was a lot in it. The lecturer said that some parts of the tax system were now so complicated that only specialists would have a chance of understanding it, and even to the point that the HMRC don't understand it. It's things like resident in the UK and non-resident. An aeroplane pilot frequently lands in the UK say in the morning and flies out in the evening. So he asked one of the major firms of accountants to advise as to whether he was resident in the UK or not. They came back with a one thousand page report and a bill of ÂĢ10,000. Their report can be summarised in one sentence:

Your affairs are too complex for us to be able to form an opinion as to whether or not you are resident.

I popped home for some deperately needed sustenance and returned for the afternoon session. (I'm less than 10 minutes away from where the courses are).

The afternoon session was very much as I expected and of very little relevance to the size of businesses I do accounts for. There are likely to be big changes coming in the next year or so but no details have yet been published. The afternoon session was in two halves, the first on accounting matters, the second on auditing matters. As I'm not a registered auditor I don't attend the second half so came home at the mid-afternoon break.

Yogi, well done on a successful carpet laying session. All you have to do now is to avoid dropping digestive biscuit crumbs on the carpet as it would be difficult to find them

Good evening had quite a busy day today, I've now got my feet up with the dog on my lap- she's warm & cosy El, the courses sound like something of a headache, hopefully they will get those unclear issues ironed out and present them to you in a more helpful way next time. Yogi, does the carpet feel good underfoot? Squiggle, your garden sounds like an adventure park for wildlife, you could set up your very own springwatch cameras!
~Sparkling Summer~
Oh no squiggle I don't know how to deter a badger, but I can find out for you Good luck yogi! I hate shredding papers, and even more, emptying the shedder I've taken to putting a bin liner inside it so the paper goes straight into that I'm pleased to hear the carpet feels good I've been testing paints on my clay gingerbread men, I think I've got my technique sussed now and can't wait to paint them all!

Good morning everyone

Cloudy and windy here and rain later.

I've received 2 silent phone calls in the last half hour and the number's withheld. Generally if it's a telepest, after a bit they just automatically cut off but that's not the case with today's calls If whoever is calling persists I'll just have to put the answerphone on.

Good morning, duller and drizzly here, but I still have that Friday feeling! What are everyone's weekend plans? We'll be having a meal tomorrow night to celebrate BIL's birthday. It's a busy month so far lol Yogi, don't forget to give us a twirl when you get back Squiggle, so far mr summer doesn't know how to get rid of a badger, but thinks you must have some delicious things in your garden! It will eat your slugs apparently I'll ask my BIL for you
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone, drizzly here but heavy rain is forecast.  Those silent phone calls are a real pest EL, usually if the number is withheld and I am not expecting a call from a doctor or someone I usually pick up the phone and don't say anything, if it's a machine dialling they hang up.

Summer badgers are not the cute cuddly creatures they are often portrayed to be, they are the thugs of the animal world, they are looking for things like leather jackets (larva of the crane fly) and they can smell them under the grass, if only I could train them to pat the grass back into place again

Summer, bovine tuberculosis affects cattle and badgers. Although it can be transmitted to humans it's rare as it would normally be caught through drinking milk and the pasterisation process kills the bacteria. It's a slightly different bacterium which generally causes tuberculosis in humans. The increase in human cases in the UK is likely to be due to a combination of people with the illness coming to the UK and the strains which are drug-resistant.

Hi all, back from the nursery. The little ones were doing something for Comic Relief. It was so sweet! Then refreshments for the parents. I am sure a lot of money was raised, havent got the total as yet.
There seems to be a lot of talk going just now re badgers. All with differing views! I saw Brain May recently getting rather hot and bothered about them . Sorry they have came to visit you squiggle x

Hi Yogi, yes its hard not to. Although i got a bit of a scolding from granddaughter for putting a note in the box, i was told to put in money, not paper! I tried to tell her it WAS money, but she wasnt having any of it! Dont know why, she comes to the shops with me often and sees paper money She may have thought it was a coin day!

Glad to read you have been getting on with the spare room.

Wait until she's a wee bit older. I remember youngest son (aged 5) telling us he didn't want coins, he wanted paper money!
