Good morning everyone
A slightly warmer day here, dry and bits of blue sky amongst the clouds.
I noticed on my boiler thermosat/transmitter this morning that there was a flashing low battery sign on it. I had a quick look at the instructions leaflet which was highly confusing as it was referring to the procedure for inserting the batteries when the boiler was first installed rather than just replacing the batteries. So I ignored the instructions and just replaced the batteries.
I was a bit puzzled when the room temperature shown on the transmitter was higher than I would have expected. That meant that the boiler stopped heating. Luckily it's not as cold as yesterday. Eventually the temperature on the transmitter dropped enough to restart the heating. It seems that the transmitter forgets the room temperature when the batteries are removed, when the batteries are replaced the temperature shown is just a default figure, and that it takes quite a long time to slowly get to the right temperature. (If this had happened when the room was really cold I could have increased the required temperature on the transmitter to an artificially high temperature above the default figure which would have forced the heating on).
It's a pity that the instruction leaflet says nothing about this.
Yogi, I'm glad your hub is sorted out now. John from Virgin must have been able to change the wireless channel which was being used. There are 13 channels available and if the channel originally used conflicted with another wireless signal in your house that would have caused the problem so by changing the channel it solves the problem.
Good morning everyone, not quite so cold here. Yogi I hope all goes well with your hospital appointment, I am glad the hub is working well and I hope Mr Yogi is enjoying his new Tivo box.
Well done on figuring out your boiler EL.
Yogi, I too hope your hospital appointment goes well
Summer, I hope the cogs don't re-appear - there's nothing on the Social Strata help site about problems yersterday evening.
Squiggle, thanks for your congratulations. I thought I'd post about what had happened as Worcester combi boilers are common, the transmitter batteries don't need to be replaced that often so others might wonder what was going on if the same thing happened to them.
I didn't mention that the transmitter default displayed temperature is 20.5 shown when batteries are replaced regardless of what the actual room temperature is. The temperature shown slowly corrects at about 0.5 degrees per half hour. If the heating has stopped because the transmitter is showing too high a temperature, increase the required temperature on the transmitter to 21 to force the heating back on. Return the transmitter required temperature back once the house has warmed up. Of course in warm weather, that's not needed.
Oh no, I hope I didn't infect you with the dodgy thermostat bug, El!
Glad you got it all sorted out.
Squiggle, the hub is still working well and Mr Yogi announced this morning, "The Tivo box is brilliant". Bless him, he's easily pleased.
Summer, I hope the cogs have disappeared for you today.
Its about time the 'cogs' thing was sorted

Afternoon Sweet
A whole one?
My days going okay thanks and I can see yours is too
Yep, you have to keep fueled up
We have had flurries over the last few days but nothing that has stayed, thank goodness. Its been very cold here though, cold enough to freeze the park pool down the road and the local canals but it seems a little milder today. The sun keeps popping in and out, which helps
Now I want sponge cake and custard.
Hi Summer Did Bramble enjoy her day out yesterday?
I did have some temporary cogs during the daytime yesterday but postings still got through and it's been OK today. If the cogs surface again in the evening send out an SOS to Lori to find out what's going on - I'm rarely here later in the evening.
No, it's not silly that you miss her. I always miss Keira if she stays over at my mum's or son's.
Did she get ticked off for chasing the deer?

My internet was so bad yesterday, I would never have known if there were cogs.
According to John @ Virgin, I am now on Channel11, which is superfast.
Hi all Glad you got sorted Yogi, and Mr Yogi enjoying his new toy
You will miss Bramble, Summer, its not silly. My wee doggy a bit off colour today, she was sick this morning. She does this now and again, dont think we will need a visit to the vet. Will fast her, and see how she goes. She has been drinking water so thats good.
Not had any bother with cogs, very strange for me !
Cold here today, got the heating on
I would only have to look at the ice and it would crack, the size of me
Of course it isn't silly
Hugs for Kia. Fasting her will probably clear it up, Skylark, although she might not be too happy when she's starving.

Can you skate, Moonie? I can't, but it doesn't stop me from commenting on Dancing On Ice contestants.

I can drive, and I can also drive Mr Yogi round the bend (so he says).

On Freeview that's Pick TV which is where Sky put some of their things on for Freeview users. It's rare that there's much worth watching on that though sometimes there is.

John had better not have stuck me on that particular Channel 11.
I once drove myself so round the bend that I met myself
Did you meet Mr Yogi on the way round?

Boiled rice.............yum yum. Poor Kia, hope she gets well soon.
I have killed 72 plug plants. It's all my fault too, as I stuck them in the greenhouse far too early and the frost had killed them. I usually keep them in the hall or small spare room, but they are stuffed with things from the bedroom we are decorating. Oh well, looks like I'll need to get some more.

Thanks for the hug, Moonie.

Skylark, I hope Kia is better soon
Yogi, I suspect that Summer is still in murder mystery mode and is responsible for the death of your plug plants - murder in the greenhouse with an ice machine
