El, I remember getting into a panic when I got one of those, supposedly from my DiL. Thankfully, I followed your advice and everything was fine.

My baby is poorly. He's only been gone a few days and he's falling to bits.

Poor boy had to get some antibiotics from the doctors and then I took him home. His gf will take good care of him.

Good morning everyone, Summer I hope the temperatures aren't too bad and you manage to stay warm until your boiler is fixed.

Will your brother be travelling down today EL?  I hope the weekend goes well and you have loads of fun - what's the current game?

Have a lovely meal tonight Summer.  Yogi I hope your son starts to feel better soon.  Skylark whatever you are doing today I hope it goes well.

squiggle

Squiggle, my brother is due to arrive at my house at about 4.15 this afternoon and goes back mid-afternoon on Sunday. We've been playing an adventure game called Black Mirror 3 (nothing to do with the television series). It's the final part of a trilogy (hence the title). We are near the end and I would think it likely that we finish before my brother goes back. The Black Mirror series would not appeal to you. We generally play adventure games but the market has shrunk in recent years and fewer and fewer games are being released. Hidden object games have taken over and although some of them are close to adventure games they don't have the depth that the best adventure games have.

El Loro

I love adventure games, although not violent ones, which I'm sure you wouldn't play anyway.  Sadly they are few and far between.  Syberia was one of my favourites.  As I may have mentioned before I belong to Big Fish games and they get some quite good ones.  Hidden Object can get very old very quickly but I love the puzzley ones although I often need a walkthrough   Did you ever play any Prince of Persia games?

squiggle

Syberia was one of my favourites as well. When I said that the best adventures games have real depth Syberia was in my mind. Apparently Syberia 3 is back on the development list having been put on hold for some time. It won't be out for some time. Benoit Sokal's original intention was to have it on the pc and on Playstation 3 with a cross-over between the 2 platforms. I hope that if Syberia 3 is released it will be self contained as requiring a pc and a playstation would restrict sales.

I did play the early Prince of Persia games but never got very far with them as I kept on being killed off.

El Loro

I played all the early POP games, I couldn't quite finish the last one I played which was quite frustrating.  The finale consisted of having to climb a huge tower while being bombed incessantly and I found it impossible but they are great fun.  I hadn't heard of Loom.  My grandsons and daughter are playing POP The Forgotten Sands and I am trying to install it on my PC but getting an error message to do with Direct X which I am trying to solve.

squiggle

Squiggle, do you know what the error message says, and if so, what version of DirectX do you have and what's your operating system?

On Windows XP to find what version of DirectX is on the computer, from Run type dxdiag in the input box and the version is shown at the bottom of the System tab. I think it's similar on other operating systems.

Mainly computer adventure games. They are more story orientated than most computer games. We do play other games. The ones we have played most over the years are

Boggle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boggle

and Starlog. That's what we call it when we got it many many years ago. The rules are the same as Word Mastermind which came out later in 1975 but we use 5 letters compared to 3 or 4 for Word Mastermind. We use a star for a letter in the right position (WM has a black peg) and a dot for a letter in the wrong position (WM has a white peg). The only equipment needed for Starlog is pen/pencil and paper.

Nowadays there is an online version using 5 letters:

Aternoon all. It has turned out to be a lovely, sunny day.

Mr Yogi went with me to Morrisons, whilst he waited on his car being fixed. The windscreen washer wasn't working and he couldn't find the right fuse - turned out he had been given the wrong handbook when he bought the car. Anyway, it's sorted now.

Whilst in Morrisons, I kept picking up things for my son, then having to put them back. It might take some time before I get used to being chickless.

Last week, I planted some garlic and onion bulbs - and they are growing!

They are in my hall as it is too cold for them to go outside atm. Mr Yogi has been very understanding about the hall resembling an indoor greenhouse, but he doesn't know about the 72 mixed bedding plug plants which should arrive next week.

Yogi, your hall will be an obstacle course this time next week

I fear you may be right, El.

That cake is calorifically gorgeous. I hope you enjoy it, EL.

It's a very common error message EL, if you put the file into the google search box then it comes up loads of times.  I reinstalled Direct X but still no luck.

Sounds like a yummy cake, hope your brother's visit is a great success.

squiggle
Thanks yogi goodnight Lol at your hallway, where are you going to start growing the new arrivals when they arrive? El the cake sounds delicious, I hope you both enjoy it The engineer couldn't fix our boiler tonight, a part is needed that they didn't stock but they'll be back tomorrow. Hugs for skylark & squiggle, I hope you both had a nice day x Night night
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone. Weather is dry but cloudy.

Summer, I haven't quite figured out where all the plants will go. Most will go in the hall and I might be able to hide put some in the small bedroom until they are a bit bigger and then they will go in the greenhouse.

I hope the engineers manage to fix your boiler today. It's still too cold to be without heating. Keep warm!

Yogi19

Good morning everyone

Gloudy but dry here. It's forecast to brighten up later.

Summer, how irritating that the boiler engineer didn't have the spare part in stock. At least this hasn't happened when it was really cold. There was a time when I still had the old boiler and it packed up for a couple of weeks in late November. I had a fan heater and a small electric fire but it was very cold outside and the temperature in the rooms didn't get above 13C.

I can report that the toffee cake is nice and is light rather than stodgy.

Yogi, have fun trying to hide your plants from Mr Yogi

Squiggle, I hope your DirectX problem can be fixed. If you are interested, the Prince of Persia film is on again this evening on BBC3.

El Loro
Good morning Very cold but very sunny here today, I think it'll be a gorgeous day by lunch time El having no boiler for weeks sounds horrendous I'm lucky ours is broken now rather than in freezing temperatures! If mr summer hadn't have switched it off, it would have blown up and we'd have had a fountain in the kitchen Glad the cake is good el did you both enjoy it? Must dash, work, back later x
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone, ooh thank goodness Mr Summer switched the boiler off, indoor water features not a good idea

Good luck with plant hiding storing Yogi.  I used to be the same me and my hubby used to go round the garden centres and I would be popping them in the trolley and he would be saying 'where are we going to put them?'

Hope your weekend is going well EL, I have uninstalled POP and am reinstalling it again, you never know.  Thanks for the info about the film but I don't think I will watch it I will be wanting to do the jumps for him

squiggle

Summer, it was horrendous without the boiler for a couple of weeks but that's in the past. We both like the toffee cake. My brother had intended to get the Thornton chocolate cake that I had previously posted but couldn't find it in stock.

Squiggle, plenty of jumping in that POP film but the hero never fails in them. In terms of video games made into films, it's one of the better ones but, considering that most are dreadful, that's not much of a recommendation Good luck with your re-instal.

Squiggle, I can relate to that^^^^.

Now I want some toffee cake but we only have Battenberg cake, which Mr Yogi likes but I'm not keen on. I may have to settle for a Tunnock's Caramel Wafer.
