Someone's been playing about with my local news website - I've just seen this strange headline:

gfghgh gh h gh hg h gh gh gh ghg

The article itself is:

A NEW charity shop is opening in the Oxebode in Gloucester,

Sports Traider, opening in March, will recycle sports clothing and sports equipment from schools and organisations around the county and reinvest the money from the sale of the goods into getting young people into sport.

The venture is being led by Gloucester-based social enterpriseSofab Sports, whose founder Chris Rawlins said: "Coming off the back of the county's Olympic and Paralympic successes, the charity has a massive opportunity through our social enterprise project to reach local children and young people who may currently be excluded from sports for physical or financial reasons."

I was on the Kindle earlier on Summer.  I was able to use the Tesco Wifi (Tesco is right next to the dentist).  As expected they have extracted the two teeth, my grandson is in a lot of pain as you can imagine.  We now have to see whether we can finally be on the track of getting his shoulder sorted out.  I have just spoken to his GP, for some reason the letters giving appointments have not reached us (we had given them his address and mine) and the surgeon has taken the view that he is deliberately ignoring the appointment, I have no idea why she would think that, but once you go down as a DNA then it's an uphill job to get it sorted.

Hi all
Hope you are coping without your baby Yogi.
Well done to your grandson for being brave at the dentist squiggle, hope the pain isnt too bad for him to deal with and hope you get the hospital appointments issues sorted out.
What a lovely blanket Summer, your mum is very talented.
Great idea El, for the charity shop, hope its a success. Its such a good thing to get children involved in sports.
Weather here sunny but cold, nice and fresh though

Hi skylark how's your granddaughter? Did you have snow this weekend? Aw poor master squiggle his gums will be sore all week bless him, I'm pleased they could do the work, at least he's on the right path long term. Is he staying with you or going home to rest up? I hope he doesn't have to do anything for a few days. Favourite DVD or Xbox game to distract him perhaps..? I'd report the missing mail to your post office too, we had a postman for a year or so who was constantly putting wrong mail through our door and ours kept vanishing.. I reported it 3 times!

Hi Summer, meant to say earlier hope you are feeling better. Remember to keep yourself hydrated x Granddaughter is well thanks, she cheers me up no end! Dont have her for tea today, thank goodness too, as i have just cooked a gammon joint and its really so salty. Not sure if my son will eat it, i cant, dont know what to do with it now. I dont like wasting food but its inedible
We had some snow, but it didnt lie long. We have missed most of it this year

Skylark, I found this for getting rid of salt from cooked gammon. I don't know if this will work,

"Last July Ii baked a ham for our family reunion that turn out to be too salty. I found this info on the internet and surprisingly it worked.
Ham is a popular meat that is served year-round, especially during the holiday season. One problem that often occurs with hams is that too much salt is used in the curing process which leaves the meat almost inedible.
Since cooks don't know the ham is too salty until after it's cooked, it can be disheartening to think about all of the wasted preparation and cooking time. However, there's no reason to throw away a salty ham. In a few short hours, you can draw out the salty flavor and have a delicious main course ready to serve to your family and friends.

Use the Proper Sized Container
Find a pot large enough to hold the entire piece of salty ham and place the meat into the container. Large stock pots work best, but if you don't have one of those you can disinfect the inside of a cooler and use it as well.

Soak the Salty Ham in Soda
Purchase three to four 2-liter bottles of a clear or light colored soda such as Sprite, 7-up, Mellow Yellow or Mountain Dew. The sugar in these drinks helps to counteract the salty flavor while at the same time drawing some of the salt out. If you don't want to use soda, you can use water although it will not be quite as effective. Whatever liquid you use, make sure to completely cover the meat with it so that the meat is submerged.

Place the pot into the refrigerator and allow the salty meat to soak for at least two hours. You can also allow it to soak overnight if desired. If you are using a cooler that will not fit into the refrigerator, place plenty of ice packs into the liquid to keep it cool and change them out frequently.

Rinse and Serve
After the two hours are up, remove the meat from the soda and pour out the soda. Rinse the meat in clear cold water to remove the soda residue on the surface. Reheat the meat in the oven until warm and then serve it. The meat will not taste like soda and you may even get a few compliments on how good it is."

He's not been prescribed antibiotics EL although he was last week if you remember by the dentist.  I have advised him to keep gargling with warm salt water though.

My mum would recommend that too. I hope his mouth feels better soon. I know only too well that constant, nagging pain can make you feel really down.

Hope you get things sorted out at the hospital and he manages to see the surgeon soon. Poor lad, he has been through the mill recently.

Great tip re the salty ham, El. I shall remember that one for future reference.

Hope it works on your ham, Skylark.

Signing out just now, daughter arrived wanting me to do her hair. This time its mid auburn.
Patience is a virtue
Bless your Grandson squiggle , and hopefully he can deal with the pain, although it shouldnt be bad now, that the teeth have been removed. Of course it does depend on pain thresholds .
Goodnight all , God Bless xx

Thanks skylark I did my very best to stay hydrated, taking small sips of water and sucking on ice cubes later on. I still felt dry though! I'm pleased to say I feel back to normal now and I'm eating normally again too I didn't know you could do hair! I hope daughter is happy with the new colour I can't believe your granddaughter is almost 5 in my head she is still 3! I hope you found a nice cake after all I'm just settling down to watch the finale of Dancing on the Edge, I can't wait to see how it ends Squiggle, salt water is a very good idea, I did that when I had my wisdom tooth out. I bet he's tender tonight the poor lad, I hope he's holding up alright
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone, Yogi I am glad you had a good night's sleep.  Will you keep a hot water bottle on your tum today?  I know when my tummy plays up it may take a few days to coax it back to normal.

A lovely picture to finish off the day Summer.  Skylark I hope you too slept well and I hope your daughter was pleased with her hair.

Taking the care in for a service and MOT soon, hope there are no nasty surprises.  We had such a nasty surprise last week when I was taking my grandson to the dentist, like everywhere there are some massive potholes here and we hit a humungous one on the back road and it was just like hitting a patch of ice.  We still don't know what happened, whether the wheels twisted out of the normal position but it was very frightening trying to steer out of it.  I refuse to go that way any more.

squiggle

Good morning everyone

Still 100% leaden skies here.

Yogi, I'm glad you are feeling better today, and Summer, I'm glad you are back to eating normally,

Squiggle, scary about that skid. I hope there are no nasty surprises when you have your car serviced.

Summer, like you I felt that the end of Dancing on the Edge was a bit flat. The TV announcer over the credits said that there would be an interview with Louis Lester to come. I don't know if that will take the form of an interview with the actor or with the character. If it's the character, will it be just about the series or will it touch on what happens to him after the conclusion of the story.

Good morning Overcast and chilly here, but at least it's dry Yogi I hope you feel better this morning what a horrible night you must have had Have you got an easy day ahead? Hopefully you can relax a bit Squiggle how's your grandson? Good luck with the MOT, I can't believe it's that time again already El, I'll definitely watch the Louis Lester interview but the more I've thought about it, the more disappointed I feel about the ending!
~Sparkling Summer~

Squiggle, I hope yout grandson is in less pain now.

Yogi, I was looking at a website just now and found that all the text was much closer together than normal. I had a look at how much of the allocated disc space for the browser cache was being used up and found that it was virtually full. So I cleared the browser cache, tried the website and found it was back to normal. I hope my tip of clearing your browser cache has worked and that the log in problems haven't resurfaced. Whenever I start getting odd results with web displays, provided that the connection speed is normal, the first thing I try is the browser cache.

Aw poor grandson, I can really sympathise with him. I hope he keeps using the salt, and hopefully it won't be too long before it stops hurting. If I recall Rightly, it was 4-5 days before my pain subsided, but I am a complete softy so he should be quicker really I've been food shopping, I didn't want to but I would like breakfast in the morning so it had to be done Yogi I notice you're not around tonight, I hope you're alright here's a pretty owl for you anyway

My internet went down late morning, so I contacted Virgin who said there was a problem in my area which might take 24 hours to fix. By 11pm, I was getting withdrawal symptoms and decided to fiddle around with the router and modem boxes and discovered the four plug extension lead had blown. As soon as I swapped it over for another one, everything was working again.

Now it is possible that Virgin had managed to fix the problem faster than anticipated but it is equally possible I have been without internet all day due to a blown extension lead!

I will read back and post again in the morning.

Summer, thank you for my hug.

Goodnight Moonie, hopefully I'll be back tomorrow.

I got Virgin Media coming in on Thursday to rewire me from street to house  cause all my services are paying up

Nightems Yogi. Sleep well

Good morning everyone

Another leaden sky here today. At least tomorrow afternoon there is some sunshine forecast but it looks as if the cloud returns by Friday.

Yogi, I hope your connection problems don't recur but if they do that suggests that there may be something wrong with the modem box or router to cause the extension lead to blow.
