A very Happy Birthday to your MiL x
Signing out, very tired. Just changed my bed and Kia got herself in! The cheek of her! Bribed her out with a Jaffa cake
Goodnight and sleep well all

@ Kia, the cheek of her!

Goodnight Skylark, sleep well.

It's good to have a vet you trust, isn't it? Ours couldn't have been better when Keira broke her teeth. She doing fine now, and is fast asleep at my feet.

For those who have been watching Dancing on the Edge, this is the promo video clip of the audio CD of the music and is the song Dead of Night Express:

And the musicians you see in the band including Chiwetel Ejiofor are genuinely playing the instruments and it is Angel Coulby and Wunmi Mosaku who are singing - they haven't been dubbed by others.

Good morning everyone, so pleased that Bramble is on the road to recovery.  How come dogs find these awful things so delicious to eat

Happy birthday to your MIL Summer, Bramble is so clever at present wrapping

I've got an upside down icicle, or maybe it's an ice stalagmite the hose must have been dripping slightly overnight and underneath the hose gun there is what looks like a single cigar holder made of ice

My PC comes back this morning.  It now has 600GB hard drive (it used to have 60GB) 4GB Ram, and a blisteringly fast graphics card.  My computer guy is fantastic and charges me just ÂĢ60 on top of the charge for the components.

squiggle

Squiggle, that's excellent news about the computer. Isn't it a good feeling when you know someone will do the work and not rip you off?

No icicles up here, although the water in the bird bath had frozen and I had to replace it. Unfortunately, the hose gun had jammed for some unknown reason, so I had to fill the bird bath with jugfuls of water.

There's a film called Stoker due to be released at the beginning of March. I've zero intention of seeing it as it seems to be way too unpleasant for my taste and is an 18 certificate film. (It doesn't seem be be anything to do with Bram Stoker who wrote Dracula). But what struck me was the cast. It's likely to be quite a high profile film as it's got Nicole Kidman in. It's also got Mia Wasikowska who was Alice in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Jane Eyre in the 2011 film version. It's also got Matthew Goode who's in Dancing on the Edge.

But when I saw who the director was I thought "I'll think I'll give this one a miss". The director is Chan-wook Park. The chances are that the name will mean nothing to you. He's South Korean and this is his first English speaking film. But his South Korean films tend to be at the extreme end of the violence spectrum.

Squiggle, I'm horrified that your grandson would even consider urging you to watch the Saw films There is no way I would see those films and I am 1000% sure you would find them revolting.

The younger generation don't seem to turn a hair at all the gore EL, I think they have become accustomed to it.  It freaks me out to even think about it, so I don't

I do like crime thrillers but I don't like horror films.

The nearest I get to watching horror films is Hitchcock's, The Birds.

One of the scariest films I ever saw Yogi.  I went with my future hubby and my brother.  My brother came out looking green and I determined to sit up all night as I was frightened to go to sleep   Why do these heroines always go in rooms, when you want to shout out DON'T GO IN THERE!!!

*night owls* thank you yogi, I hope you've had a lovely day Twit twooo! Aaaaw MIL loved her card, gifts and the food I picked up- she said its been her best birthday ever she was surprised & delighted at your birthday wishes to her too, she's fascinated by the Internet because she has no idea how it works. Mr summer gave her 35 roses, in reds, yellows and inbetweens, they are beautiful I have no interest in horror movies either, they don't particularly frighten me but they don't entertain me at all, I have far better things to do with my time than waste it watching pointless films like that. I much prefer a good comedy or musical Sweet dreams to you all, here's wishing each of you a lovely weekend!
~Sparkling Summer~
good morning Snow here, I had an inch at least on my car, I wasn't expecting it to settle. I've had a terrible night, I woke at 1am and threw up, and at 2am, 4am and 7am I think the Chinese has made me ill I've taken some tablets and come to work, and prayed for the strength to get through the day. I feel a better now than I did during the night I hope you all slept well
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone. Very cold weather and we had a small flurry of snow.

Summer, I hope you feels better as the day goes on. There is a stomach bug going around, so it might be that rather than something you ate.

I'm glad your MiL enjoyed her birthday cards, gifts and food. Mr Summer is very good at choosing beautiful flowers.

Yogi19

Summer I hope you feel better today, what an awful night

Very very cold here but no frost funnily enough.  Hope the snow disappears and that everyone manages to keep warm.  I expect my grandsons over later to check out the new PC and play some games that it wouldn't play before.  Then hopefully my eldest grandson is coming to church tomorrow.  Have a good weekend whatever you are up to, and keep warm.

squiggle

Squiggle, the weather forecaster explained on the BBC yesterday why there was no frost. It's because the air is very dry. It makes it feel colder particularly because of the wind coming from the east but as it's dry there's no moisture for frost to form.

You are right in that people can become used to excessive gore and violence in some modern films, and for that matter some video and computer games. PEGI ratings up to 12 are OK. Where there is a PEGI rating of 16 I would approach with caution and try to find out more about the game before buying it. Youtube is quite useful in this as you often find that people have posted walkthroughs so you can get a feel for the game. PEGi rating of 18 is a no-no as far as I'm concerned. Many high profile shooting games now carry an 18 PEGI rating. And there's a new Tomb Raider game coming out at the beginning of March which has an 18 certificate. That's the first time those have been given an 18. Of course improved graphics means that more realistic scenes can be shown and that can have its downside.
