Met Office has now issued amber warning covering my area for heavy snow on Friday. 4 to 6 inches at low levels, 10 inches at high levels. More snow here on Saturday and again on Sunday. Obviously I will be doing my shopping tomorrow. This looks as if this will be the biggest snow event in decades in this part of the country. Squiggle, your area is still yellow warning.

Squiggle, it may well get warmer in your area but here, the current forecast for my area is that it will remain cold for at least 10 days. Looks as if the Daily Express dire warnings are going to be correct for once.

There's supposed to be baptisms on Sunday at our church as well though the familiy/(ies) may decide to postpone them because of the weather.

At least I won't have to go out to see any clients in the next couple of weeks as they will either come to see me, or we can sort things out via the internet. In recent weeks I've set up an account with Iris OpenSpace which is a secure site specifically for accountants to transmit documents to and from their clients. It's more secure than sending attachments via email.

Afternoon I'm just waiting a few mins with a towel around my hair before I christen my new hairdryer. Choosing one wasn't easy because you can't get them out to feel or try them, I'll leave feedback shortly Had the most beautiful walk with bramble in the snow; Skylark I hope your computer problems aren't too tricky, time consuming or expensive. Come back soon Squiggle & El, I hope you get a little dusting of snow that looks pretty but melts before causing any trouble. Ours was half way up my wellies in places earlier but the roads are clear, we've been predicted more for the weekend. Yogi I hope you're having a nice day

Summer, I love the snow - so long as I don't have to go out in the car!

Everything looks so beautiful when it's covered in snow but it can cause lots of problems for commuters. I hope it doesn't disrupt anything for you and Mr Summer. Keira is like Bramble, she loves to play in it.

We had a few flakes at 3pm but nothing more since then. I'll keep you all updated.

I made some carrot and coriander soup today. It tastes very nice and I'll definitely make it again. I like having a pot of homemade soup on the go, in wintery weather.

They do, up here.

I make my own. It's my late brother's recipe. One night, he was in the Chinese takeaway and asked them why his homemade chicken noodle soup was never the same as theirs. They said the trick is to add a few drops of Sesame oil to the bowl, before putting in the soup.

Off to bed now, goodnight Summer, sweet dreams.

Oh Summer look -Please, please help find Mollie.. Gone missing today in Severn avenue weston super mare. Mollie is 12 years old and very timid. Not very street wise. Please forward this picture to friends and family.
Any news or sightings please contact via Facebook. We are on route back from cornwall. I am devastated, please help me find her

I hope Mollie is found safe and well.

At lunch time I had a phone call suggesting I took my car in to where I get my car serviced for them to check a couple of things which they identified during the last MOT test but weren't bad enough for the MOT to be failed. I will get the work done but I turned down their first date which was tomorrow . They obviously haven't been paying attention to the weather forecast for tomorrow.

The Met Office have now widened the amber zone for tomorrow and parts of South Wales now has a red zone.

I did my shopping this morning so don't need to go out tomorrow.

Summer, I wasn't aware last October when the MOT was done that the style of the MOT certificate had changed. In previous years I got the familiar green MOT test certificate. Last time the format was different and was printed on plain white paper (still with the VOSA logo). It included a couple of advisory items which are the ones to be checked this time.

The nearside rear tyre is worn close to the legal limit. A bit odd as I had taken the precaution a few days before to get the tyres visually inspected at the local ATS place and they had said the tyres were fine. I think the place I use has the tyres put under the microscope and are examined more closely.

The other thing is they detected a coolant leak. I don't do a lot of mileage and there is nothing obviously leaking.

I would have preferred it if they had rang me on the day to see if I wanted the work done but they didn't. It's sensible though to get these checked again as either of these could be serious if either a tyre blew or the engine overheated.

Cost is difficult to say at present. I may have to have the rear tyres replaced. The coolant leak could be trivial or non-trivial depending on what's causing it.

Oh yes- last time I had to get my car taxed I struggled to find my MOT certificate, and was just starting to panic when I discovered I'd flicked past it in the file several times, but had forgotten that the style has changed! I had been looking for a green paper, not a white one. Phew Neither of those jobs sound like major work, I'm just always suspicious of garages and wouldn't like you see ripped off

Squiggle, I needed the scarf, hat and gloves when I was out and about today - it's freezing cold up here.

Good luck with the car, El. I hate MOTs, they should be abolished because they are never good news and always cost lots of money.

I hope little Mollie is safe and well and found soon.

Went for my check-up at the dentist this morning but it had to be postponed as his kids were unwell and he'd had to go home. Got to go next week instead.

It's bad enough plucking up the courage to go, awful to have to do it all again next week   Still if his kids are unwell there's no choice.  It's absolutely arctic here too.

He is very nice and gentle, so I am less scared of him than most other dentists, but I still have to psyche myself up, if you know what I mean.

I hope you can stay indoors and keep warm, it's bitterly cold. Brrrrrr!

We can hold hands, El.

I know that one of my fillings needs "topping up", so I'm not looking forward to that.

Can I join in please?  We are all being tortured by dentists I like it when they say come back in 6 months.
