Good morning everyone

Cold, sunny and frosty here.

Summer, nice snowman. No snow here but probably will be later in the week.

I saw the first of the Father Brown programmes yesterday. Mark Williams does a reasonable job as Father Brown and avoids making the character farcical. The programme is reasonably faithful to the G K Chesterton stories though the denoument yesterday must have taken some liberties from the original story.

I think I counted 15 Summer which I am sure is too many but I am sure the owners will help.

Back from the dentist, I have to have a filling replaced as it's starting to chip away around the edges and she wants me to have a crown to replace a filling she did before she was telling me about an alternative to a crown where you just take an imprint of the tooth and have an onlay thing made which sounded wonderful, so I asked the price - gulp - ÂĢ500, it's not covered by the NHS - err I'll have to settle for the crown.

I had a client who had to have dental work costing a few thousand but that was due to a helicopter blade smashing his teeth while he was working on the helicopter - he was lucky not to have been killed.

Yikes! He was very lucky not to have much worse injuries, El.

Well done, Joe.

Thank goodness squiggle I hope it's not too long of a wait for you either and that the tooth isn't causing too much pain El, what an odd phone call, the mind boggles sometimes. I've got a new customer who, unfortunately I cannot stand, he makes me angry! Yesterday he asked how long I'd been with mr summer, which is a typical general question. But he proceeded to ask if the relationship was strong! What on earth?! He also thinks drug dealing is probably the way forward if he can't find a proper job, because one of his mates is a millionaire from doing it. I just deal with his request and get him out as soon as possible!

Summer, if I had a client like that I would probably find some excuse to tell them to find another client. The nearest experience I've had was a client who knew another one of my clients and asked me if I though my other client was having an affair. I wasn't aware that the other client was, but even if I did I wouldn't tell the client.

I no longer act for the client who asked. I still act for the other client who remains with her husband.

As far as the drug dealing is concerned, if I become aware that a client is selling or distributing drugs, then I am legally obliged to inform the authorities under the money laundering law and must not tip off the client. Accountants are amongst the types of businesses who have to follow the money laundering rules. I doubt if the same rules apply to your business though.

Thanks Yogi for trying. The link works fine for me

Squiggle, warning that snow is forecast for your area from about 9 in the morning on Friday. Saturday in your area seems to be slightly warmer and rain is forecast.

In my area, snow is forecast to start Friday evening. One website has 6 inches falling in Gloucester though I suspect that's more likely on higher ground rather than in town. Saturday not forecast to be any warmer.

El, I don't think I'm legally obligated to report anything like distribution of drugs, but I certainly wouldn't allow any on the premises, I've no qualms about refusing service to anyone. I do have to be careful how I go about it though I am legally obligated to refuse service to clients who have head lice, I have a nice way of telling them I hope everyone's had a nice day, I see the snow has reached the southern counties

Hmm, trying to think of a nice way to say, "You've got nits".

There are some nice Scottish accents - and a few awful ones, too.

Lol yogi I call the parents over and whilst showing them I quietly say "I just have to inform you that I've found some eggs.." Usually they understand that I mean nits, but occasionally I have to spell it out. Then I say "it's nothing to worry about and easily treated, but unfortunately it does mean that I'm not able to cut his/hair today. If you just pop over to the chemist, they'll give you something for it and I'll be able to cut it after it's been treated" I then give the child a sweetie anyway, reassure them that it's very common, and thank them for coming in" I then hope that they follow my recommendation, or that the next hairdressers they walk straight in to are either fully booked or have the good sense to check first also! Sweet dreams yogi I hope you enjoyed CBB, I hope Claire gets evicted tomorrow

Good morning everyone

Cold here and frosty. Forecast here is dry today and tomorrow, heavy snow (5 inches) from Friday morning into Saturday, remaining cold for many days after that, though may be sleet rather than snow. Yellow met office warning at present though that will probably be increased to amber by Friday.

Stay warm, El.

My son was laughing at me because I bought some dried milk and a couple of bread making packs, in case we get snowed in. It's only a couple of years since it last happened and I intend to be prepared.

Yogi, if possible I'll try to do my shopping tomorrow rather than on Saturday. The house is warm enough and at this time of year I tend to get clients to come here rather than me go to them. Although it's cold outside, the forecast temperature is a range of -5 minimum to 2 or 3 maximum over the next 10 days, rather than the -15 a couple of years ago.
