I know, it's sad sometimes.
@ the baubles under the sofa - that's the sort of thing Harv would have done. DiL said she hung some chocolate decs on her tree but had to put them up really high where Harvey couldn't reach, or he'd have nicked them.

Goodnight Summer, sleep well - and thank you for the gorgeous pic.
Good morning everyone
Rained here from mid afternoon until after I went to bed but dry and sunny now though temperatures down. Several days of cold weather ahead.
Bit alarming this morning when I turned on my computer and found that my mouse wasn't working. I tried a different mouse with the same result and realised it was the USB ports not working. In the end I rebooted the computer and my mouse is working again. I've taken the precaution of printing off some notes about how to get the pointer to work by just using the keyboard.
How to navigate Windows using a keyboard:

How to move the pointer using the arrow keys on the numeric keyboard:
Good morning everyone, looks like it's going to be a sunny day I did look at the Amazon comments EL but I still don't think it would interest me, thank you though Computers are very odd EL you will probably find that that problem never happens again.
I can just imagine Bramble hiding the Christmas tree baubles
Morning Flying visit for now, have the dentist , and some shopping to do. catch up later
Good luck at the dentist Skylark.
EL the exception that proves the rule, one crime series that looks good to me is starting Monday 14th January on BBC1 in the afternoons, a 10 part series, Father Brown. I liked Cadfael and the one set in Victorian times with a detective called Corky I seem to recall where Kevin Whately played the sidekick. So It's the quirkiness I like.
Squiggle, i'll try to remember to record Father Brown. I read the G K Chesterton stories many years ago and saw the film version (1954) starring Alec Guinness and also the 1974 television series starring Kenneth More.
Whether Mark Williams as Father Brown is suitable for the role remains to be seen as he may well ruin it.
I liked Cadfael as well though I can't remember seeing that series set in Victorian times.
Squiggle, I may have found the series you were referring to - Sergeant Cork starring John Barrie shown back in the 60s. However the sidekick was played by William Gaunt. This is the complete first episode from 1963.
Good morning everyone. Weather is dry now, although it was raining earlier.
Summer, I love that pic - you can see by Bramble's expression that she knows she shouldn't be on the window ledge.
Skylark, good luck at the dentist. I've made an appointment for next week.
I hadn't seen any ads for Father Brown, so I'm glad you mentioned it, Squiggle. I've set my V+ to record the series.
If anyone watches Silent Witness, there is a new series starting tomorrow night (BBC1 at 9pm). I have a feeling this may be the last series.
Hope the mouse doesn't give you any more problems, El - but at least you are prepared, if it does.
That's the one EL, good series and of course it was William Gaunt and not Kevin Whately I have no idea why I mix those two up. I agree with you about reserving judgement on who is going to play Father Brown. The same goes for Blandings on on Sunday and the lead role is taken by Timothy Spall. Now I like Timothy Spall but I don't think I can see him as Lord Emsworth. By the way Scott of the Antarctic (the 1948 version with John Mills) is on BBC2 1.15 Saturday, a great film and one which you may like to see again, always brings a lump to my throat.
I've got my dentists appointment next week too Yogi having got muddled about the time of the last one.
Yogi, I never watched Silent Witness as too grisly and gruesome for me.
Squiggle, the music for Scott of the Antarctic by Ralph Vaughan Williams was adapted by him into his 7th symphony:

The complete symphony but the clip is audio only.

It is, for a lot of people.

Maybe you should tell us which day, so we can remind you.

PG Wodehouse is pretty difficult to pull off although Fry and Lawrie did a pretty good job And that one featured my favourite car - an Invicta Tbh I don't have high hopes although I'm a big Spall fan - lovely distinctive voice.
If the Beeb let Silent Witness drop off I'm gonna be devastated although nothing - repeat nothing (Killing, Homeland etc.) could hold a candle to the magnificent Waking The Dead
Hi Squiggs
Oh and Ukridge is one of my favourite books
Velvet, I agree with you about Waking The Dead, it was brilliant.
I will be gutted if Silent Witness gets the chop, but I have a horrible feeling its time is up.

It's on Tuesday, I keep running over the appointment in my head so I don't forget it
Hi Velvet did you see Timothy Spall in that series where he sailed around the coast of Britain? It was good and interesting to see him off duty as it were.
Yeah...I watched that. All at Sea
Yogi I know you like using Play.com
Jersey retailer Play.com closes direct retail business
Online retailer Play.com is to shut down its retail business becoming a marketplace only from March 2013.
The Jersey based company blamed the move on the ending of Low Value Consignment Relief allowing items less than ÂĢ15 to be sold to the UK VAT free.
The company is making 147 staff redundant in Jersey as well as 67 in its Cambridge and Bristol offices.
Play.com will be more like a shopping centre with the move, no longer selling directly to the customers themselves.
The Low Value Consignment Relief (LVCR) loophole was shut by the UK government in April 2012.
In a statement Play.com said: "Moving forward we are intending to focus exclusively on our successful marketplace, which is our main business area, and to phase out the direct retail part of our business."
In September the States of Jersey said about 400 people had lost their jobs elsewhere in the island because of the end of LVCR.
As long as Cheap Smells doesn't go in Guernsey.
Cheapest place for Creed
Oh no, Squiggle! I love Play.com.
Mind you, my purse might be healthier for it, as I've spent a small fortune with them over the years.
Velvet, I had to google Cheap Smells - I've bookmarked it now.
I've got a headache starting, so I'd love a cuppa, thanks Summer.
As I understand it, though I don't use Play.com so can't be certain, people will still be able to get things from Play.com from the businesses which market through Play.com.

So I can still buy from the Play Traders?
Maybe my purse won't be healthier after all.

That's my understanding. Their Twitter page seems to be trying to reassure customers who have been panicking:

Thanks El, I'll take a look.
Shame about all those people who are losing their jobs though.
I had to google cheap smells too as I hadn't heard about it. Thing is I need a scratch and sniff section which I don't suppose is possible on the internet I'd like a new perfume but I don't know what I want. I like L'Air Du Temps, really feminine girly smells.
