This one was always my favourite Yogi
The Elephant is a funny bird,
it flits from bough to bough.
It makes it's nest in a rhubarb tree
and whistles like a cow!
My hubby's penchant was for silly songs, he knew some doozys

It was my maternal grandmother who used to teach us daft rhymes and songs - we loved them.
Just a thought, are there going to be people who know silly rhymes and songs in the up and coming generation or are we the last of a dying breed?

I hope we're not the last, Squiggle. I'm sure hubby and I will pass on the ones we know to our grandchildren, and hopefully others will do the same.
Off for a long soak in a nice bubbly bath, then a read before bed.
Leaving a hug for Summer, hope you've had a good evening.
Catch up tomorrow.
Good morning everyone. It is absolutely freeeeeeezing up here. Brrrrr
Glad you had a lovely time, Summer. I hadn't heard of Alex Clark but googled and Amazon sell some of her prints. I like this one:
Son doesn't hold out much hope of the vandals being caught and I've suggested he puts in a small security camera. He says the problem with those is that the images aren't particularly clear, especially at night. Anyway, let's hope there is no more damage.
Have a good day everyone, whatever you are doing.
Good morning everyone
Dry but cold here - some freezing fog so unlikely to warm up outside.
My father told me this one many many years ago when I was still at school. I told some others at school and many years later someone else told me.
Fluffy Wuffy was a bear
Fluffy Wuffy had no hair
So Fluffy Wuffy wasn't fluffy, was he.
Christmas lights extravaganza :
It turns out that the golf balls are used for hypnotising women for gastric band weight loss. A golf ball is placed in their hand and told that this is now the size of their stomach. They take the golf ball away as a reminder.
I trust my client knows what she's doing as if I thought my stomach was the size of a golf ball the amount of food I would eat would be virtually nothing.
Apparently, this is used by other hypnotherapists:
Good morning everyone, really really cold here this morning, a heavy frost.
So does the hypnotherapist persuade the women that their stomachs are really the size of golf balls without actually having the surgery EL? A friend of mine had the surgery for real (for medical reasons she was born with arthritis and is in so much pain that even the morphine is not really helping any more ) and her stomach at the start - it stretches - was the size of her thumb She has lost over 5 stone and feels fantastic. She no longer has high blood pressure and although she still takes one diabetic tablet her blood sugar levels are now completely normal.
Ooh I like the look of that artist's work, perhaps you can go back again sometime and buy something of hers Summer?
Squiggle, it does seem that the hypnosis is instead of gastric band surgery .
Some hypnotherapists deal with pain management so is that something your friend has looked into?

It's way beyond that unfortunately EL, her hips are constantly having to be replaced and her spine is crumbling away. I think she has reached the stage now where no further surgery can be done on her spine. She is a very brave lady. I asked her whether her surgeons felt that losing weight would help with the back pain but they said it would not.
She stays very cheerful. Of course her faith is of great comfort to her, as it is to all Christians. As you will know morphine is the ultimate treatment for pain relief but, as I said before, even that is proving not to 'hit the spot' in quite the same way as before as she has been taking it for so long.
To be born with this devastating illness is a tragedy and in my paper a couple of weeks ago there was the story of a little girl born with the same illness. So not surprisingly my friend is single, it's not easy I would think to meet a life partner when you are facing countless operations.
Arthritis can be such a debilitating and painful illness, I really feel for your friend, Squiggle.
Glad I chose well with the print, Summer.
Re the stomach the size of a golfball, does anyone know what the size of a normal stomach is?
Squiggle, at least your friend has her faith to comfort her.
There are painkillers which are stronger than morphine but doctors would be reluctant to use them unless there was no alternative.
I've just finished folding up and delivering the church Christmas cards to all the houses in my road. It's not warm out there and I couldn't wear gloves as that's not easy when pushing cards through letterboxes. My hands were rather cold when I got it but they've recovered now.
Lots of postmen wear these in really cold weather EL, I don't know whether you would think it worthwhile to invest in a pair? I am sure it would help
I wonder what Julian of Norwich would make of the news today that the census figures for 2011 show that Norwich has the highest proportion of people with no religious faith in the country.
Julian of Norwich was an extraordinary woman:

A fascinating article.
Yum! What are you having on them?
Need to sign out now. Hope you've saved me one of those pancakes, Summer. Goodnight, sweet dreams.
Good morning everyone. Still frosty but perhaps not quite as cold as the last few days.
Summer, I usually refuse to eat anything which still has its face on, but in the case of that pancake I will make an exception. Thank you!
I liked the clip, El. That reminds me, I must go check whether The Muppet's Christmas Carol is on TV this year - I love it!
Edit: I found it! It's on Ch4 at 11am on Christmas Eve.
Good morning everyone
Yummy, pancakes
-4 outside at present here and quite foggy. The coldest day of this present cold snap but by Friday turns mild with some heavy rain but not as much as the south west.
On BBC2 on Saturday at lunchtime 1.20 to 2.45 they are showing the film Holiday Affair (1949). This is a delightful Christmassy film. Stars Robert Mitchum (easily his nicest film) and Janet Leigh. Definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it before or not for some time.
Good morning oooooh Christmas film recommendations already I love it!
el, I'm going to set that one up to record right now. Yogi, muppets Xmas carol is one of mr summers all time favourites! We will be watching it too
ive been having a lovely, lovely lay in, with bramble mr summer sent her up as he left for work. As I've typed this post though she's gone downstairs, so I'd best go let her out
i'll try to pop in today, but I'm mostly going to be outside making Christmas wreaths! I'll upload pics later
have a lovely day all xxxx
Good morning everyone, ooh pancakes, thanks Summer.
I have set it to record that film EL ( Holiday Affair), there are some good films on this Christmas, Hugo the Martin Scorsese one, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, a new Muppets movie plus Up! and Miss Potter amongst others.
Off out soon to spend the day shopping with my eldest grandson, dentist appointment for a check up and then my grandson has a letter for the orthopaedic department of the hospital as his shoulder is still dislocating and it looks like an operation is the only option.
Shhhhhhh - sneak preview this is the real Santa
Morning all x
Just popping in to say i havent been well . Son down with it now too. I feel a bit better today, now the dizzy feeling has gone. Catch up with you all soon
PS daughter ok, nothing as yet x
Oh no Skylark just before Christmas too. I hope you feel better soon and it doesn't spoil your Christmas.
Squiggle, I hope all goes well with the dentist and other visits. Sorry to hear your grandson's continuing shoulder problem.
I have Freeview so suspect that some of the films you've mentioned are on Sky rather than Freeview - I haven't got the Radio Times Christmas issue yet so haven't been able to check.
Skylark, sorry to hear you haven't been well and hope your family get better soon
Aww Skylark, hope you and son get well soon.
Squiggle, enjoy your shopping trip with your grandson, and hope all goes well at the dentist. I've had my reminder card in for my check up but I'm putting it off until after Christmas.
Sorry to hear that your grandson is still having problems with his shoulder. In this instance, maybe an operation would be for the best.
Summer, I look forward to seeing the pics of the wreaths.
El, I have set my V+ to record Holiday Affair, thank you.
Squiggle, I'm looking forward to seeing Miss Potter and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, too.
I have been shampooing my living room carpet, prior to putting up the tree and decorations later this week.
Re the FA Cup and Cheltenham. The home match against Hereford resulted in a 1-1 draw so the match was replayed last night at Hereford. Cheltenham eventually won in extra time 1-2. As a result they get the home tie against Everton on 7th January. It will be shown on television though I doubt on Freeview.
It would be sensational if Cheltenham won but they will get a decent amount of income from this.
At long last the fog and mist has lifted and there is some brightness in the sky. It's still cold, -1 outside.
BBC article on the census results showing 10 obscure statistical quirks:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20692122
Strangest of these is that there are more people in mining and quarrying in Kensington and Chelsea compared to Gateshead.
Oops I thought my dental appointment was for 11.15 on the 12th, turns out it was for 12.15 on the 11th I only found out when I picked up my Post It note, still they are quite happy and I have re-booked for January.
Shopping all went well and grandson has tottered off home with loads of food and Christmas goodies including some make-up for his Mum and a new hair dye for her too. I said all he needs is a red hat and a white beard, he's a good lad.
Up! is on BBC1 on New Year's Day EL, Secretariat, a fantastic film about a racehorse is on on 27th December on BB2, Miracle on 34th Street is also shown on Film 4 if you have it. Yogi they are also putting My Week With Marilyn on again on Christmas Eve.
Squiggle, easy mistake to make
Thanks for the film times. I'll watch out for those though I have seen Miracle a few times (the original one rather than the Richard Attenborough one). At some time I think Channel 5 are reshowing the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol so I may record that one. That's based on their trailers but I could well be wrong as the trailer also includes Scrooge (the Alastair Sim version) which I've seen too recently to want to see it again just yet. Though Channel 5 are in their Christmas film overkill season at present so they may well be showing both. I like Christmassy films but you can have too much of a good thing.
