I've just finished watching the Astaire/Rogers film "The Gay Divorce" which was their first main film together. The highlight of the film is The Continental routine which lasts for 22 minutes but the clip below just has Astaire and Rogers bit's which were at the beginning and end of the routine and is 4 minutes of magic:

Yay I am with you two, I would be very disappointed if Charlie were to win, I was disappointed that David went last night.

I don't want Charlie to win, and I thought David deserved to be in the final 2 with Ashley. More than anyone else, I think David and Ashley threw themselves into the trials and every aspect of jungle life.

I loved the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers clip EL, thank you.  I am torn between watching the beautiful dancing and looking at the dress.  I am a big fan of film costumes, especially Edith Head.  I have seen a wonderful book entitled Marilyn Monroe's Costumes which I would love to see but it's huge, a coffee table book, what would I do with it?

Squiggle, Debbie Reynolds had a huge collection of film costumes (3,500 of them) which she had collected over the years. She had hoped to have a permanent museum for them but it was never to be and over a number of months in 2011 they were auctioned off. Some of these were worn by Marilyn Monroe and they were probably included in the book you mentioned.

Here's a clip of Debbie Reynolds introducing one item from the auction and she's not exaggerating when she say's it's the most famous costume in movie history.

 It sold for $4.6 million.

Good morning everyone

Sunny, cold and frosty here.

Summer, I hope your elf party went well. I saw the first elf of the season yesterday morning (he was at the door entrance to Santa;s Grotto (and no I didn't go in )

Being a long time fan of Michael Powell's films yesterday evening I watched his 1951 film Tales of Hoffman on a DVD. Previously he had made The Red Shoes which is known for its stylish ballet scene. It had received critical acclaim and so he decided to film this which is a straight filmic version of Offenbach's operatta. Unless you are a fan of that operetta there's not a lot to recommend about the film but I will post this extract which is the Barcarolle which is the most famous music from it and the scene is worth watching.

The sinister looking man next to the woman is played by Robert Helpmann who plays the villain. He was a ballet dancer who also made a few films and is best known as the child catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Good morning bright and frosty here, it will be a lovely morning walk with bramble Oh I'm going to have to go load that Fred & Ginger clip on my iPad, I just know I will love it! Elf night was a huge success! I didn't expect everyone to stay so late but we had an encore of the grinch and they stayed until after midnight! Surprising because 3 of them have work today. I climbed in to bed at 1am, picked up my phone to forum and promptly fell asleep! I've got some laundry etc to get on with but I'll be back shortly happy first Sunday of December everyone!
~Sparkling Summer~

Aww so sweet I can just see you after your happy elf party tired out and trying to log on - falling fast asleep with your phone in your hand Summer

Cold and cloudy here this morning.  EL I would have been so tempted to just nip in if I was outside Santa's Grotto I think I'm a bit big (and old) to sit on his knee

Just found out who won IACGMOOH!!

Cheltenham have their FA cup match against Hereford this evening and I wish them well. Both sides have had some decent cup runs in the past. Although Hereford may be in one league lower than Cheltenham, Cheltenham does not have a good record of matches between the 2 sides.

Whichever side wins has a home tie against Everton.
