Bramble cocktail I love it!!!!!! I can just imagine that made you smile when you saw it yogi El, that cocktail recipe sounds nice- except for the gin, I would substitute it with rum or possibly vodka. I'm pleased it doesn't have cream in, I'm not keen on creamy drinks I'm 100% certain that if she hasn't have had the baby, my best friend would want to try that recipe right away Squiggle the cable snapping incident sounds terrifying!!!! What kind of road were you on and how on earth did you stop the car?! Luckily, my bill for the repair was ÂĢ180, I think it would have been much higher had there been more damage, I thank those who watch over me

There's high cloud today but quite good visibility (Wales is quite clear) but it is certainly cold.  I have a new idea this year which is proving absolute bliss, I decided in the end to have a heated throw on my bed and it is sooooo cosy and warm, I switch it on for a 2 hour setting on level 5 as I tuck myself down and pull it up round my head - total bliss.

I like the idea of a Bramble cocktail but I think I would prefer the juice version - I prefer Schloer to wine

Summer I think you act on instinct when something like the throttle cable snapping happens, I think I put the car in neutral and then turned off the engine.  Glad you got yours repaired at a reasonable cost, happy motoring in it now.

Good morning everyone. Weather is dry and bright atm.

Summer, I like traditional colours on my Christmas tree, so would opt for red and gold. I love baubles which resemble the ones we had on our tree when I was a child. Love a bit of nostalgia.

Squiggle, I also prefer Schloer to alcohol - although I did like a pear cider my son let me try, I think the brand is called Kopparberg.

Your heated throw sounds like bliss. Unfortunately, Mr Yogi is always roasting, so he'd have a fit if I suggested buying one.

I got round to seeing that Hitchcock film "Secret Agent" yesterday evening. It's OK but not in the top rank of Hitchcock films. Gielgud is OK in it and the film was made before his voice became over-plummy. Peter Lorre as "The General" is more than a touch wierd and comes across a bit like a sinister version of one of the Marx Brothers, One point of interest in the film is the actor who plays the part of an Army captain who appears briefly near the beginning of the film and again near the end.

When I saw him I thought I recognised him. Although he is not credited in the cast and is not mentioned in the IMDB cast list, there is little doubt that it is Michael Redgrave in his film debut. It is confirmed in the Wiki article on him.

Good morning  It's just starting to get light and I can hear birds chirping Yogi thanks I appreciate the goodnight hug Red & gold, beeeeaaaaauuuutiful I'm quite the traditionalist and love those colours, along with beads, round baubles, bows and lights Squiggle you did so well to react that way in your car, I honestly don't know what I would have done and can only pray it never happens, or that I finish safely if it does! My car is running lovely now thank you I thoroughly enjoy driving it I loved yesterday's pics, el- i must show mr summer the red northern lights! Thank you for sharing. And squiggle- those feet they made me laugh out loud Skylark I hope you had a good rest after your day yesterday, I too can't stand shopping like that How's the little angel to be?
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone, Skylark what a nuisance about the frozen roast, I hope you can think of something delicious to conjure up.  I hope Santa will bring a new pooter this Christmas.

Your tree sounds lovely Yogi.  I am impressed with Bramble Summer, not only is she beautiful and cute she has distinct musical tastes too.

Skylark, what a bother about the frozen chicken - I'm sure we've all done something like that before.

Yogi, I think much of the country is swampland. I was talking with a client last week who does things like agricultural fencing. Because of the swampy conditions, his customers have said they will have to delay things until spring in the hope things have dried up. So for the first time in decades he is strugglling to find work.

Poor man, the wet weather has caused havoc for so many people this year this year.

In today's local paper:

BEAUTIFUL creations by talented artists turned heads at The Gardens Gallery in Montpellier.

The Open West Award showcased the work of Haruka Miyamoto, who created a dodo from recycled materials.

She said: "The idea of my work is really based on lifecycles in nature.

"I rescue materials from the bin and give them a second life, so they don't end up in landfill. The impact that humans have on nature can be devastating.

"The dodo, which became extinct due to human activities, is a symbol of extinction." Other winners were sculptor James Graham, whose piece reflected man's attempts to control nature, and Koji Shiraya, who has used porcelain spheres as metaphors for the mind.

A spokesman from The Open West said: "This year's award-winning artists are connected by their concerns for the environment, showing acute awareness of the origins of the materials they use, from base metals to volcanic rock, leather, waste rubber and plastic."

Good morning everyone

Very wet night, very cloudy, and more heavy rain expected during today.

I watched that Sandy Denny tribute concert last night. "The Quiet Days of Brotherhood" was the standout. I found this clip of Sandy Denny singing it - the lyrics were by Richard FariÃąa which he set to the Irish air My Lagan Love. Lovely photos.
