Good morning everyone. Misty start to the day and cloud forecast for later. Summer, I noticed that Milly's new book can be purchased for the iPad @ ÂĢ4.99 If it does have a Christmas theme, I'll be saving it until December. I'm sure I kept back a Christmas themed book from last year - wonder where I put it? El, I think it was right to pull that particular episode of New Tricks, as it would have been insensitive to show it ATM.
Yogi19

Good morning everyone, I have been a frenzied cleaning machine this morning, only just sat down and had my brekkie - I need a flat out exhausted smiley.

Milly's new book looks great, right up my street.  Yogi I have loads and loads of Christmas books ready to go and I know right where they are, it all helps to make the season bright as they say.

Lovely goodnight picture Summer thank you.

Skylark I hope you enjoy the shopping, find something perfect to buy and don't get too tired, enjoy your morning.

I can see just why they shelved that episode of New Tricks, likely to be a sensitive subject for the BBC for a long long time.

Good morning very foggy here! Thanks for the link el and the info yogi I will definitely be buying it! I still haven't read her last one yet (too busy crafting lately ) but I will, I love her books Good luck skylark reluctant shopping doesn't sound fun, I prefer Internet shopping myself Well done on your cleaning frenzy squiggle, I hope you're relaxing with a cuppa now!
~Sparkling Summer~

Squiggle, I hope you have recovered from your cleaning frenzy.

Skylark, I'm not keen on being dragged round the shops either. I hope it wasn't too much of an ordeal.

Summer, I have been browsing through one of Mr Yogi's many cookery books and found one you might like. It is called Perfect Christmas by Carolyn Bell. As well as  some lovely Christmassy recipes, it has craft ideas and old-fashioned games to play at Christmas.

Oh, I forgot to ask you the other day, where did you buy the personalised baubles from?

Yogi19

I've just had a phone call from someone I haven't heard from in 20 years. Derek used to give me lifts to work in Cheltenham until he changed jobs and my office closed down and I was moved to the Gloucester office. Shortly after I was made redundant he rang me and I went round to meet him. He and someone else had recently set up a computerised book-keeping service and they were hoping I might join them to deal with the accounts and tax side. I wasn't interested as I wanted to be my own boss.

He told me his book-keeping service had been sold to another firm and he had been doing other things for about 15 years. The reason he had rung me was for some pensions advice as to what he would need to put in to generate an annual sum. That's not the sort of thing I can do as pension advisors would be better suited for that.

We chatted for a bit before ringing off. He's seems well but doesn't live locally to me at this time.

Thanks for the link yogi it's not working on my phone app but I'll def check that out on my iPad- and I'll see if its available for iBooks I use a website called getting www.gettingpersonal.co.uk the bauble's are about ÂĢ12 each but I can promise they are fantastic quality! I got a story book for Ava's first birthday too, they personal it so my name and hers are in it! I take her to the zoo El, it must have been a strange experience catching up with your old friend, I hope it was enjoyable catching up even though it would have been nice if he wasn't ringing for that purpose.. I just had to abandon my drive to yoga- my headlights failed luckily, I had full beam or side lights, but no dipped beam. Seeing as its dark and foggy, I decided to just turn around and come straight home! Mr summer is investigating it as I type and I do have tomorrow off so I can sort it out if need be Not great timing though with the clocks changing this weekend
~Sparkling Summer~

Someone from 20 years ago giving you a call, is a real blast from the past, El. Do you think you will keep in touch now that he has made contact again?

Summer, thank you for the link. The books you mentioned are great. My late brother bought books for my boys when they were small, and the stories inluded the names of family members. My boys loved them, and I'm sure Ava will treasure hers too.

I hope you get the problem with your car lights sorted out quickly.

I'd forgotten about the clocks changing this weekend, thanks for the reminder.

Yogi19

Good morning everyone. Weather is overcast with very low cloud - no fog atm though.

Have a good day off, it sounds like you are going to be busy, Summer.

Did Mr Summer manage to sort out your problem with the car lights?

I suppose it was nice to have a catch-up, even if you don't hear from him again, El.

Mr Yogi has a few days off work, so I'm not sure what we are doing - he tends to be a spur of the moment type of guy. If he's feeling energetic, we'll be out and about. If not, he'll be napping on the couch.

Have a good day everyone, see you later.

Yogi19

Good morning everyone, as Yogi says EL it was nice to have a catch up with your old friend.

Sounds like a busy morning Summer, hope you have a good time and get everything done that you want to do.

Yogi enjoy your time off with Mr Yogi.

It's incredibly mild here but not for long as it turns really cold towards the weekend, enjoy your day everyone.

I'm back, but have to head out again this afternoon.. Bramble has a bug, most likely from jumping in disgusting pond water this weekend. Nothing too serious but I thought it best to get her to the vets early, she has conjunctivitis too. She needed a wormer anyway so I just got everything she needs at the same time. She was very good at the vet though and had injections for antibiotics.. She should be back to her normal self shortly *crosses fingers* The car is sorted out too, i had to buy two new bulbs and I just paid to have them fitted so that mr summer won't have to do it tonight in the dark. My lights are a bit tricky to get to too I picked up a few things from the shops while I was out, including a big pumpkin I didn't mean to, it just looked so good Is everyone having a good day?
~Sparkling Summer~

Hi Squiggle. Mr Yogi and I took Keira out for a long walk, and now both of them are having a nap.

Summer, good news that the car wasn't too expensive to fix.

Poor Bramble, has she got an upset stomach? I think you did the right thing taking her straight to the vets, as she'd been in manky pond water.

Well done to Bramble for behaving at the vet's - unlike someone else we know.

What are you going to do with the big pumpkin - lantern or soup? I bet I can guess the answer to that.

Yogi19
Lol lantern! but if I knew how to make pumpkin soup I could be tempered to try it. I'm better at baking than cooking though Bramble did have an on/off upset tummy, threw up a couple of times, is lethargic, off her food and has glupy eyes. It's not very bad, but I wasn't taking any chances and I'm off today anyway. I can already see a difference in her since this morning, she's been wanting to play this last hour What kind of walk did you do? I like woodland or beach walks, I think I'll avoid the walk near the pond for a while!
~Sparkling Summer~

I wonder whether Bramble will learn from her experience, I doubt it, the more disgusting the better if Ben is anything to go by.  I am glad she is feeling a little brighter and just as well you were off today Summer so that you could be on top of the situation.  Keira sounds a sensible girl to me Yogi, I mean if that big wet stuff is going to start chucking icky salty water in your face don't give it a chance to do it again, that's what I say

Summer, I'm glad Bramble's a bit better now. You were sensible taking her to the vets as there can be nasty bugs and thinhs in pond water.

Here's a link to a pumpkin soup recipe on the BBC website:

http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/7730/pumpkin-soup

Having put that big job to one side for 8 working days while I was waiting for information from the client, I've not got it, so it's back to that for the next few days.

Thank you El I might pretend I'm on the great British bake off and that's my technical challenge- you can be Paul Hollywood, and squiggle & yogi can both be Mary Berry Just had bramble out for a little walk, squiggle I presume she'll not know it was pond water that made her poorly, and like Ben she will most likely do it again Yogi I'm pleased you enjoyed your walk too, aren't we lucky to have the countryside around us There's an excessive amount of mushrooms & funghi around this year, I've never seen so much!
~Sparkling Summer~

I found this Summer, see what you think

You can try Silk or 365 (Whole Foods) plain, unsweetened, full fat soy milk and see what you think. I use both as a cream sub in my pumpkin pie. You should also look up Mimcreme and see if that might work for you. It's not low fat, but probably lower in fat than cream and can be used in savory as well as sweet dishes.

Calling her sensible is so much kinder than calling her a wimp.

Summer, I wonder if the excessive mushroom/fungi issue, is due to the very wet and mild weather we've had this year.
