I just had to look up what it stood for Its basically a moving image file... a photo will have a .jpg extension and a moving file (like Z's) will have .gif  

It stands for: Graphics Interchange Format (GIF)

As opposed to JIF which as we all know is now called CIF but is still not a patch on Cilit Bang!!
