There's been a branch of The Card Shop in Gloucester for quite a few years. They claim not to have raised their prices in 10 years though I don't know if that's the case.

This shop looks like it will be a success, but i also feel for a local independent shop nearby, which i feel may not survive much longer. Its sad really that large companies open up at the expense of the small run shops, but its a sign of the times that people are watching their pennies these days .....

I'm sure there is a Card Factory in a town near to me - I must check it out.

I've only just seen about Ted's announcement which was as much a surprise to me as to everyone else. I've edited his announcement as many of us were thinking we could no longer post Youtube clips without being a VIP. You still can - there's no change. What Ted was referring to was where you wanted to upload your own video from your computer via an attachment - that is where you need to be a VIP.

You might want to try posting a music video on the what are you listening to thread just to prove that people can still post videos,

How do I do it?

Yogi, open a separate tab on your browser, find a Youtube clip you want to post and copy (Ctrl C) the address as shown in your browser bar - it will start with w w w.youtube. Come back to the forum and start a posting. When you want to insert the video click on the icon which looks like a piece of film - it's the one 3 from the end.

In the File/Url box paste (Ctrl V) the Youtube address. Then press Tab. In a second or so you should see the front picture of the video appear in the box below. Then click Insert. You'll  come back to the Post Reply box. You will see a large empty box in your reply with a little icon in the middle. Post the reply as normal and there you are. There are other ways of posting clips but that's how I do it.

 

Well done Yogi, you've proved users can still post videos (though for some reason the clip has been posted twice)

Thanks for doing that as hopefully it will keep people happy that they can keep on posting clips.

I think the most disconcerting thing about Ted's changes is that you can't create new private dialogs/messages without being a VIP though it is important to note that you can still post on to exisitng ones.

Yes, I think that not being able to start new PMs is the biggest issue for FMs.

Summer, yes you can still post pictures via Photobucket. What you can't do without being a VIP is to add photos from your computer via an attachment.

Good morning everyone.  I am really not sure what to make of all this two speed forum thingie.  I was hoping we weren't going to go down the premium member thing again and it will seem odd with some of us being VIP's and not others.  Oh well I suppose we will get used to it.

 

It's quite a nice morning here really, bit breezy but I like that because it's blowing all the autumn leaves away   I did have to laugh Yogi when you asked about posting videos, I was reading along quite intently and then I thought 'I don't do that either!'

I will probably be regarded as a philistine by some but I just don't 'get' DH or any of these "modern" artists.  To me art has to be beautiful, there is nothing beautiful about pickled sharks, cows cut in half, unmade messy beds or a pregnant woman with her skin hanging off.

I got rid of my electric blanket, because Mr Yogi was always roasting (even in Winter) and I got fed up listening to him moaning about being boiling hot, when I was just nice and cosy. I just have my hot water bottle now.

Congratulations Velvet, what does everyone else think, is it something you would do down the line?  I am not sure.  I can see the sense in contributing to the upkeep of the site, we certainly wouldn't want to be cut adrift again, and I did notice that Ted said that without people like EL coming forward to be mods we probably would not exist any more, horrible thought.
