I'm glad I didn't get this in the post :

A woman in south-west France, who received a telephone bill of nearly 12 quadrillion euros, has had the real amount she owed waived - after the company admitted its mistake.

Solenne San Jose, from Pessac outside Bordeaux, said she received a huge shock when she opened the bill for 11,721,000,000,000,000 euros (ÂĢ9.4qn).

This is nearly 6,000 times France's annual economic output.

She had requested her account be closed after losing her job last month.

The former teaching assistant said she "almost had a heart attack. There were so many zeroes I couldn't even work out how much it was".

The phone company, Bouygues Telecom, initially told her there was nothing they could do to amend the computer-generated statement and later offered to set up instalments to pay off the bill.

In the end, the company admitted the bill should have been for 117.21 euros only, and eventually waived it altogether.

It has also apologised for the gaffe, which it says was down to a printing error and a subsequent misunderstanding between the client and staff at their call centre.

I had to laugh out loud when I read that they offered to set up instalments for her to pay it EL It's just so silly.

I quite agree Summer, it's definitely my favourite so far, and to know there will be more in the pipeline is wonderful.  I found a great new author this year and then discovered she died a month before I read her first book.

squiggle

Two good ones I received in an email.  I was struggling to remember the first one, it made me laugh.  And the second one I was very relieved to find it caused me no difficulty whatsoever, always nice to check

During a visit to my doctor, I asked him, "How do you determine whether or not an older person should be put in an old age home?"
"Well," he said, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the person to empty the bathtub."
"Oh, I understand," I said. "A normal person would use the bucket because it is bigger than the spoon or the teacup.."

"No" he said. "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"

ARE YOU GOING TO PASS THIS ON OR DO YOU WANT THE BED NEXT TO MINE?

This is NOT a joke. If you were able to pass these 3 tests, you can cancel your annual visit to your neurologist. Your brain is great and you're far from having a close relationship with Alzheimer.

Congratulations!

Hi everyone. Weather is dry here atm.

Love the twinkly wreath, Squiggle.

I'm relieved to say I passed the test and found the C, 6 and N with no difficulty.

El, the video clips are so cute. I have been watchin Paul O'Grady's programme on Battersea, and I hope it encourages more people to adopt the dogs and cats.

Summer, I think my laundry pile was larger than the one in your pic.

Keira was very pleased to see us.

There's a supplementary poser after squiggle's C, 6 and N test. It reads:

If you were able to pass these 3 tests, you have a good ability to "stop seeing the pattern" and see the underlying elements.  This is more interesting once you understand how powerful the brain is at pattern recognition.  Let me demonstrate it below:

Can you raed this? Olny 55 plepoe out of 100 can.

I cdnuolt blveiee that I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd what I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mtaetr in what oerdr the ltteres in a word are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is that the frsit and last ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can still raed it whotuit a pboerlm. This is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the word as a wlohe.

I was able to read it without much difficulty but think there is a small accidental error in the above - can any of you spot it?

I had something similar in an email a while ago and the sender and I had a amusing exchange of emails using jumbled phrases, it was fun.

You could be right.

There's a thread over in the Lounge which has been going on ever since this forum came into existence:

In the postings, they use "s" in place of "f" and "f" in place of "s"

Good morning everyone

A mix of blue sky and cloud. Apart from the possibility of some showers it looks as if it will be dry until Tuesday/Wednesday here.

I've been working on that large job for the last week and have got as far as I can until the client provides me with more information. So I can relax this weekend

I don't get the M&S cookies every time but I alternate between the 3 types they generally have.

Aww, I kinda like Nicky, 'cos he's pretty.

I think it might be Johnny Ball or Michael Whatsist (the cricketer) to go.

After Keira's latest drama, I think Mr Yogi might throttle me if I suggested getting a puppy.

Yogi19
Ha yeah, understandable lol any word on the insurance situation? Just thought- SIL gets her new puppy soon, I wonder if its this weekend or next! It's a lab cross pointer with a bit of spaniel in there somewhere I felt a bit sorry for Natalie, she's such a good teacher and she's not going to do well at all this year. He was rubbish though wasn't he, he should go
~Sparkling Summer~

I left the insurance form with the vet on Friday, so I probably won't hear for a couple of weeks. The vet said they should pay out as the injury was a trauma and not routine treatment. *crosses fingers*

I don't think Natalie is in it for the long haul this year, but she seemed to be having fun with Johnny and taking all the criticism on the chin.

A lab/pointer/spaniel mix sounds interesting. Good gun dog material.

Aww, poor dog, what's wrong with her/his leg?

You are right, Keira is seven, she'll be eight in a couple of months time.

Vet bills are astronomical, aren't they!

Hopefully, with lots of rest, it will heal on it's own.
