Hope you get home ok Summer, sounds bad where you are x
Still windy here but the rain has stopped, huge puddles around.
Had a lazy afternoon, watched The Royal, really enjoyed it, shame there are no more being made
Summer, if you aren't already, listen if you can to your local radio station for details of road closures. When Gloucester had the really major floods in July 2007, the local BBC Gloucester radio station was the main source of information for everyone. It ditched the usual programmes and helped people with news and updates throughout the day.
Then most people left work early to get home. People who could not get home either stayed with friends, booked a hotel or stayed at work.
As long as you don't have to swim home!
Joking apart, hope your journey home isn't a nightmare.

Ditto x (we must have posted about the same time Summer!)
If you have to drive through flooded roads only attempt it if the water is not more than 6 inches deep (if still water) or not more than 4 inches (if moving water). Drive in the centre of the road as that will be higher than keeping in the left lane. Drive in a low gear and keep foot on accelerator as that helps to stop water getting into the exhaust.
I'm glad you are safe Summer. I think you are sensible to stay indoors tonight
Glad you got home safely Summer what's the forecast for tomorrow?
I think this Argentinian invention is dreadful and I hope it disappears and doesn't come to this country:

I know the dreadful weather has been a nightmare for a lot of people but I think you will like this clip on the BBC website

Glad you both got home safely.
Good morning everyone. It's still raining up here.
Summer, your area seems to have been hard hit, I hope you haven't been too badly affected by the floods.
What is the weather/flood situation like for everyone else?
Good morning everyone
I hope the weather has improved for those hit yesterday. It has been raining here overnight and showers are expected for much of the day but I'm not expecting any significant flooding. There's the usual flood warnings on the Severn when there has been heavy rain but nowhere near the same level as July 2007.
Good morning everyone, I've been out and about this morning. It's showery and every time I went to step out of the car it fell down and everyone I was in the car it stopped
Glad the weather is better for you now Summer and hope your mum manages to get there.
I hope the weather is better for everyone after all that rain, I think we are promised at least a couple of dry days and I hope that is the same for everyone.
That Argentinian thing is just to stop people passing books on isn't it? I hope people refuse to buy them. We are told to recycle and then something like this comes along.
That spaniel was certainly enjoying the freak weather conditions, hard to believe all that foam could just have been whipped up by the wind.
Squiggle, I agree with you, I hope people refuse to buy those books where the print vanishes within 2 months. With the increasing popularity of electronic books, the printed book will attract people who love books and want to keep them and/or share them with people. If you want a temporary book, the electronic book is more sensible.
As you say, that spaniel was enjoying the foam.
Squiggle, I hope you've dried off and had a nice cuppa, too.
I hope that spaniel's owner gave him a bath to get rid of the salt in his coat, after he had been bouncing about in the foam.
IMO, the Argentinian disappearing ink is a rubbish idea. What about people like me who have favourite books they like to read more than once?!
Summer, I hope the trains are back to normal soon and your mum is able to get home tomorrow.
Morning Glad you got home ok Summer , and hope your mum gets home safely too x
Its been pelting rain here all night. it was battering off my windows, i have hardly slept. Son never heard a thing! What bliss it must be to sleep so soundly. Rain easing off now, thankfully. I have family in Aberdeen and they have posted pics on Facebook of the rather odd foam thats been whipped up. My sister was on to check they were ok, as i am not on FB.
Hope the weather isnt causing too much problems for you all
Skylark, that foam was really odd, I've never seen anything like it. At first I thought the pics were of snow.
The sun has been shining here for the last couple of hours.
Yogi, sounds as if your laptop has a problem with the message WLan is disabled. I hope your son can sort it out but it may have to be sorted out by a computer repair shop.
I found this link for a HP G60- 630US Notebook. I don't know what yours is so the link may be of no use.

It might be worth trying System Restore Yogi possibly?
Good news for you - it's useful to have someone like your son on hand to sort computer problems
I've just worked out that at present this is the 66th wettest year out of the last 159 years. That is provided there is zero rainfall for the rest of the year.
Methinks the likelyhood of there being zero rain for the rest of the year is less likely than me becoming the next Archbishop of Canterbury
(If I take the rainfall to date and multiply that by 12/9 to get roughly a year's worth it will be the 3rd wettest year - the wettest years being 1903 and 1960).
Suits you sir!
Haha Summer, your mum sounds like a clone of mine.
Son has returned my laptop and it's all sorted. I asked him what had been wrong with it and he looked me straight in the eye and said, "Mum, would you understand if I told you?". He's got a point, it's all Double Dutch to me.
Signing out now, goodnight Summer, sweet dreams.
Good morning everyone
After a wet evening and night the weather has calmed down here. Fairly cloudy and there's a possibility of a few light showers but not on the scale of the last few days.
Thanks you squiggle for my hat. I will wear it at my enthronement should I be appointed
