Summer, there are 2 films made which together last for 415 hours which would (just) be too long for my DVD recorder. However I think it very unlikely they will ever be shown on television and even less likely that I would want to watch them.
The longer of the two is aomething about a building in Helsinki showing centuries of decay. The other one is a collection of interviews with people which is still being made with extra interviews being made.
Hi all x
I survived the day ! What a shame for the girl in the bank Summer. We are so dependant on machines and computers these days arent we? When they go down we are hopeless.
Hope you all well x

Glad to hear it. Did you manage to get your bankcard back?
Poor lass in the bank, I bet she got an earbashing from some customers.
Nice of you to offer to get her some lunch, Summer - even though she refused, I'm sure she appreciated your offer.
Hi Yogi, yes i got my card back, as it was my own branch it was ok, just needed ID. I ordered a new one as it must be faulty x
Going to have a shower and settle down for BB. Goodnight all

Yes, best to get a new card if it's playing up.
Goodnight, sleep well.
Oooh, fish and chips! *drools* I bet Bramble enjoyed the beach.
Are the kids back to school on Monday? At least things should quieten down a bit for you then.
I'm off to bed too, goodnight Summer, sweet dreams.
Good morning everyone
It's cloudy here but expected to brighten up later, and it's not as cold as yesterday.
Summer's got her hat on, hip hip hip hooray
Summer, on your favourite subject, did you by any chance see the latest episode of The Closer? Episode is called "You have the right to remain jolly". It's a bit different from the normal festive television.

Good morning everyone, cloudy and with definitely a chill in the air this morning. I'm going to do a long range weather forecast soon to know whether to put the winter duvet back on when I change the sheets.
Hi all x
Chilly here too, the summer we never had is over !
Hope you gave Bramble some fish and chips, Summer
Summer, The Closer is a series which has been going on for the last 7 years. It's not a series I watch on a regular basis, I just happened to see the one I linked by chance. This is the last series made but a new series has been spun off from it called Major Crimes and some of the cast have moved on to that series.
If you've ever seen any of that Police Academy film series (and that is very definitely not a recommendation) you will recognise one of the characters in The Closer.
A proper ray of sunshine you are too.
Glad Bramble enjoyed being on the beach. She's a brave little dog, does she like to go swimming in the sea?

Not a fan then, El?
Hi Skylark, have you got the rain over on your side?

Based on my limited exposure to the series, they don't rank with the great films
And on the IMDB website, there may be another one coming out next year - I can hardly wait
Hi Yogi, no rain here but clouds looking heavy and dark, so its on its way..
Gave computer a full scan, i had one high threat (java) , put it in vault. Now i have pop up saying java update required. I dont know whether to click on it or not. Any advice ? x
Skylark, Java's one of those things which you only need if you have a program which uses it. Of course, it's difficult to know whether you need it or not. As far as the Java update is concerned, I had the same message yesterday. Oracle (they are Java) released an update yesterday as they have found a serious security flaw in Java. So it is better to install it even if you don't need it.

Thanks very much for that El I think java came when son downloaded something to do with his mobile, itunes or something. not sure and he isnt here at the moment. I shall update it.
I'd been getting the Java update thing for a couple of days, and kept forgetting to check with son whether to do it or not. Thanks to Skylark's question and El's reply, I've now updated it, too.
I loved the police academy movies! How is it that Closer is 7 years old and I've not heard of it?
Yogi, bramble does swim in the sea, she loves it does Keira?

No, she won't go into the water. The first time we took her to the beach, a (not very big) wave hit her in the face and she's been a big wimp ever since. Harvey absolutely loves to swim in the sea. My DiL puts an extending lead on him because he swims out really far and she worries that he'll go too far out and get in trouble. He's brave.
Off for a bath and an early night, see you tomorrow, Summer.
Sweet dreams.
The phone hasnt stopped this evening!
Off to my bed, busy day tomorrow, granddaughter got a party and then we are off into town
Goodnight all, and see you all Monday
Good morning everyone
Cute pictures, Summer
Skylark, I hope your granddaughter's party goes well today
Summer, The Closer has been shown on television here since it was made but as it started off on Channel 4, then moved to More 4, it's less likely to be noticed than if it had been shown on Channel 5 where most of the American crime series get shown.
Good morning everyone, it's very drizzly out there. How lovely that Harvey enjoys swimming so much that he swims out he is very adventurous. Keira knows what she likes more sedate.
Have a good day out Skylark and Summer and I hope everyone else manages to dodge the rain.
Good morning everyone. It's a bit overcast up here.
Skylark, I didn't realise you were still signed in, otherwise I would have included you in my goodnight post last night. I hope your granddaughter enjoys the party.
Hope you have a lovely day out, Summer. I like the angel pic.
Squiggle, is "sedate" a euphemism for scaredy cat?
El, has The Closer also been shown on Alibi?
I was out with eldest and middle sons yesterday. We called in to a garden centre (for bird seed, not plants) and they had lots of Christmas decorations for sale. We haven't even had Hallow'een or Bonfire Night yet!
Yogi, I don't have access to Alibi but according to their website, series 1 is currently being shown and is being repeated from the beginning with the pilot episode being shown at 4 pm on Thursday 13th and again at 7 pm, then it continues on a daily basis. As later episodes from series 1 are also being shown it could get rather confusing, so here's a link to the IMDB page listing the episodes in order:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458253/episodes?season=1
The lead is played by Kyra Sedgwick who you will either like or dislike. She's married to Kevin Bacon and they will have their 24th anniversary in 2 days time.
Thanks El, I thought I'd seen an ad for it on Alibi.
I didn't realise Kevin Bacon had been married for so long. Good to know that some marriages (within the film industry) still survive.
Yogi, it's the celebrity marriages which last which we don't hear about as they aren't as newsworthy as the ones which fail. Sad reflection on our times, I think.
At church this morning, it was a family service, particularly with the new school year about to begin. They had a children's hymn which has been around for many years but I had never heard it before. I think I would have remembered it if I had.

Sadly, I think that's true, El.
Nice hymn, but I've never heard of it before.
Nice to see Bramble with her dad. It's turned to mizzle here now so no improvement. When I went to the hairdressers on Thursday a lady had brought in a Border Terrier just as I was leaving, holding her in her arms and I thought of Bramble as everyone was making a fuss of her but she looked right at me as if to say 'aren't you going to pet me too?' cheeky girl
Summer, just click your heel 3 times, and you'll be back watching the paralympics
Nice for Bramble to be re-united with her dad.
Squiggle, a shame about your weather. Here, it's been fairly cloudy but has been dry all day long.
