Oh Lordy skylark I hope your day drastically improves, straight away! The poor girl at our local bank is having one of those days too; she's got no help, the machines are down and the queue was huge I tried to make her feel better by offering to get her something to eat/drink, she politely declined bless her, but I could she was trying not to cry I'm just grabbing lunch, it feels good! El, I'm sure you'll have no trouble using up some memory space recording films
~Sparkling Summer~

Summer, there are 2 films made which together last for 415 hours which would (just) be too long for my DVD recorder. However I think it very unlikely they will ever be shown on television and even less likely that I would want to watch them.

The longer of the two is aomething about a building in Helsinki showing centuries of decay. The other one is a collection of interviews with people which is still being made with extra interviews being made.

Hope you all well x

Glad to hear it. Did you manage to get your bankcard back?

Poor lass in the bank, I bet she got an earbashing from some customers.

Nice of you to offer to get her some lunch, Summer - even though she refused, I'm sure she appreciated your offer.

I'm pleased to hear you got your card back skylark, phew! Hope you settled into a nice relaxing evening Work was busy! One more day to go and I'll get a break I felt fine after I got home so I requested we drive to the beach to walk the furry one, she loved it. Then we ate fish & chips for tea mr summer is being very supportive to help me get through the week I'll probably pass out in a few mins so wish you all goodnight now P.S. El- if they made a festive film that was 415+ long, I would most definitely be interested!

Good morning everyone

It's cloudy here but expected to brighten up later, and it's not as cold as yesterday.

Summer's got her hat on, hip hip hip hooray

Summer, on your favourite subject, did you by any chance see the latest episode of The Closer? Episode is called "You have the right to remain jolly". It's a bit different from the normal festive television.

^ I'm here, I've arrived! Afternoon all Overcast but slightly milder here, we still have the heater on low though El I haven't seen the closer, I will definitely have a little look at that though thank you (115 sleeps to go) Yogi, bramble loved the beach lol The tide was going out, leaving pools of water in the sand, which she plopped into whole running and ended up swimming in! She was brilliant
~Sparkling Summer~

Summer, The Closer is a series which has been going on for the last 7 years. It's not a series I watch on a regular basis, I just happened to see the one I linked by chance. This is the last series made but a new series has been spun off from it called Major Crimes and some of the cast have moved on to that series.

If you've ever seen any of that Police Academy film series (and that is very definitely not a recommendation) you will recognise one of the characters in The Closer.

A proper ray of sunshine you are too.

Glad Bramble enjoyed being on the beach. She's a brave little dog, does she like to go swimming in the sea?

Not a fan then, El?

Hi Skylark, have you got the rain over on your side?

Based on my limited exposure to the series, they don't rank with the great films

And on the IMDB website, there may be another one coming out next year - I can hardly wait

Skylark, Java's one of those things which you only need if you have a program which uses it. Of course, it's difficult to know whether you need it or not. As far as the Java update is concerned, I had the same message yesterday. Oracle (they are Java) released an update yesterday as they have found a serious security flaw in Java. So it is better to install it even if you don't need it.

Yogi, bramble does swim in the sea, she loves it does Keira?

No, she won't go into the water. The first time we took her to the beach, a (not very big) wave hit her in the face and she's been a big wimp ever since. Harvey absolutely loves to swim in the sea. My DiL puts an extending lead on him because he swims out really far and she worries that he'll go too far out and get in trouble. He's brave.

Yogi19
Good morning I was searching for Sunday pics when I saw this.. I thought it was cute We're heading out for the day, I'll pop back later to tell you all about it Yogi, poor Keira a wave in the face must have been so frightening! I'm pleased bramble doesn't swim out far, it would worry me Skylark I hope you have a great day out El & Squiggle I hope both your churches have a good service today
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Cute pictures, Summer

Skylark, I hope your granddaughter's party goes well today

Summer, The Closer has been shown on television here since it was made but as it started off on Channel 4, then moved to More 4, it's less likely to be noticed than if it had been shown on Channel 5 where most of the American crime series get shown.

Good morning everyone. It's a bit overcast up here.

Skylark, I didn't realise you were still signed in, otherwise I would have included you in my goodnight post last night. I hope your granddaughter enjoys the party.

Hope you have a lovely day out, Summer. I like the angel pic.

Squiggle, is "sedate" a euphemism for scaredy cat?

El, has The Closer also been shown on Alibi?

I was out with eldest and middle sons yesterday. We called in to a garden centre (for bird seed, not plants) and they had lots of Christmas decorations for sale. We haven't even had Hallow'een or Bonfire Night yet!

Yogi19

Yogi, I don't have access to Alibi but according to their website, series 1 is currently being shown and is being repeated from the beginning with the pilot episode being shown at 4 pm on Thursday 13th and again at 7 pm, then it continues on a daily basis. As later episodes from series 1 are also being shown it could get rather confusing, so here's a link to the IMDB page listing the episodes in order:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458253/episodes?season=1

The lead is played by Kyra Sedgwick who you will either like or dislike. She's married to Kevin Bacon and they will have their 24th anniversary in 2 days time.

Yogi, it's the celebrity marriages which last which we don't hear about as they aren't as newsworthy as the ones which fail. Sad reflection on our times, I think.

At church this morning, it was a family service, particularly with the new school year about to begin. They had a children's hymn which has been around for many years but I had never heard it before. I think I would have remembered it if I had.

It's turned in to a very hot & sunny day here, I hope squiggle's drizzle dries out and the sun shines through Look.. That's bramble and her dad! He was in a dog show so we went up to see him, and they liked each other We entered Bramble in the puppy class for a laugh, neither of them won prizes though. The judge barely looked at Bramble, I'm not too disappointed though because it was just a bit of fun
~Sparkling Summer~

Nice to see Bramble with her dad.  It's turned to mizzle here now so no improvement.  When I went to the hairdressers on Thursday a lady had brought in a Border Terrier just as I was leaving, holding her in her arms and I thought of Bramble as everyone was making a fuss of her but she looked right at me as if to say 'aren't you going to pet me too?' cheeky girl

Summer, just click your heel 3 times, and you'll be back watching the paralympics

Nice for Bramble to be re-united with her dad.

Squiggle, a shame about your weather. Here, it's been fairly cloudy but has been dry all day long.
