No he doesnt know, and yes it will be a surprise, a big one if it stays as streaky as it is now
You are most welcome Lizzie

I'll keep everything crossed it dries well.

Yes they did. They still here, seeing a show tonight , then going up to Montrose tomorrow for the weekend to visit family there. (they in a hotel) My niece is such a lovely girl, when back in London she is doing her last year training as a midwife. Its been lovely seeing them both, pity my son missed them but will maybe get down before Christmas.

How's it doing?

I'm glad they had a good time, it must have been lovely for you to see them again.

I hope you do manage to get down to see them before Christmas, it would be a nice break for you.

When my diet is over, I shall have a homemade steak pie.

My day was good thanks, Summer. With Big H back home, there were no escapes today.

Lizzie, I'm rather partial to a nice Victoria sponge.

Off to bed, goodnight all, see you tomorrow.

Morning, similar weather to Summer's I think, rain later but it has been a nice sunny break.

I do find Skylark that some paint shades look very streaky whilst drying and then turn out OK I hope this is the case but if not hopefully another coat should fix it.  Glad you had a great time with family.

Summer thank you but hubby knew how I felt about sport on the TV (I had to watch so much of it as he loved it), I bet he's having a little chuckle now at my one step removed Olympics - nearly finished watching Downton, just the Christmas special to go.

Have a good day Buddies

Skylark, I hope all goes well with the painting

They've started painting the walls next door. I hope for them that they can get it done today before the weather turns tomorrow. They are doing it by brush rather than roller or spray so it will take time.

Summer, I hope the garden party is good

Squiggle, I've been very selective when watching the Olympics. I've seen bits of course, but there have been days when apart from what was shown on the news I haven't seen any.

Thanks Summer, but I am quite relaxed about spoilers.  My hairdresser who also loves Downton had mentioned about Mr Bates in prison long before I had watched it but I was quite happy about that, although she was cross with herself, because then I can see the storyline building up.  Thanks for being concerned though.  I have enjoyed the series and I love the characters of Mr Bates and Anna, she is a very brave woman.  I also liked the Jane character and could quite see why that situation developed and felt that his Lordship handled the situation well.  I do like Hugh Bonneville.

Good afternoon everyone. The weather is lovely and sunny up here.

I've spent most of the day in the garden with hubby, chopping down the shrubs in the back garden. Mr Yogi missed his vocation, he would have made a brilliant Sergeant Major, barking out orders. I told him if he said my Christian Name once more, I would throttle him - so he started calling me Yogi!

Middle son and hubby are now Harvey-proofing the garden - if he escapes after this, I'm going to tie him to the clothespole. Just kidding.

Middle son and his fiancÃĐe are staying for dinner, so I may not be around till later tonight.

Hope you have a lovely time at the garden party, Summer, and good luck with the painting, Skylark.

El and Squiggle, hope you have a good day, whatever you are doing.

For your interest, this is from a Downton Abbey Etiquette primer on how to address people:

The Countess of Grantham:  Cora, addressed as “Lady Grantham.”  All other usage as for her husband (except for “Grantham” alone), but in feminine form:  “my lady,” “her ladyship,” “Cora Grantham,” never “Lady Cora.”  Her husband and mother in law call her “Cora” and refer to her in conversation with each other as “Cora”— but presumably would not in conversation with anyone else.

We have the options of Lady Summer (as I used), my lady (but that would be used by a servant) or Sweet Summer. (Sweet by only your nearest and dearest.)
