I have no idea, Squiggle. At least now I know exactly where he is getting out, as he had trampled down some shrubs which exposed his escape route.

He was in a neighbour's garden. She made me laugh when she said she heard some heavy breathing in her shrubbery and was relieved when she realised it was just the dog.

Squiggle, a dinner share for larger dishes such as pies/lasagne's is a good idea, let's get cooking! I'm quite lucky because I can get dinners like that from a place near work, they do home cooked meals and are very reasonably priced. I eat better there than I cook for myself Yogi, uh oh! That Houdini certainly is determined isn't he did he get far?

That did make me laugh

You are lucky Summer, where I live there's no shops like that.

@ Harvey the Houdini Husky. Wonder if they want a swap for Harvey the Houdini Labrador? Only joking!

I let the dogs into the garden after they had their dinner, but I stood guard over the escape route. It would seem that he somehow managed to get under the mesh, so it looks like it will need to be pinned to the ground to keep him in. Hubby says he'll sort it out at the weekend, so until then, I must stay alert and prevent another escape.

Son's garden is completely fenced in, so Harv doesn't escape from there. Previously, he has taken off after cats a couple of times when he was off lead - but the Houdini act only started this year (he will be 7 next month). Tbh, it's driving me round the twist, because I am afraid he will wander onto the road and get knocked down.

I know some dogs seem to be born with wanderlust but this is quite a recent thing.

*whispers* He has been "done", so he isn't chasing any lady dogs.

Gosh, Ben was determined, wasn't he -did he hurt his neck badly?

Hi all, been a lovely sunny day here.
I see Harvey been up to his tricks again. he keeps you on your toes Yogi!

Son just sent text saying his hands have become red , sore and blotchy, racking my brains trying to think what it could be. Told him to find some e45 cream and use that just now. he cant find a chemist or anything to ask someone. i have bombarded him with about 10 texts asking everything! I asked him if he had a temperature, he says its hard to tell its 36 degrees ! You know now i am not going to sleep a wink tonight
Anyway i hope you all well xx

Skylark I hope you got some sleep lady night, your sons skin could just be reacting to the foreign water/soap/heat, my own suffers a little that way. The change in food and probable alcohol consumption will hit his immune system too, so try not to worry because I'm sure he'll be just fine. There will be a chemist somewhere too, he just needs to find it

Good morning everyone. Weather is dry and bright atm.

I had a lovely 8 hours uninterrupted sleep last night.

Workmen are digging up the road directly outside my driveway today, so I am confined to the house as my car is sitting in the driveway. They did knock on the door to warn me but I was still in my PJs and couldn't move the car at the time. It doesn't really matter as I dont need to go out today.

As Houdini is still here, I can't leave the backdoor open and let the dogs wander in and out. Keira is not best pleased.

Good morning everyone, very misty here at the moment but I think it will be nice once the sun burns the mist off.  Harvey is being a bit of a nuisance now isn't he Yogi, I know it might sound cruel but canyou keep him in one small area of the garden so that at least Keira can enjoy the garden?

We tried to keep Ben going as long as possible.  We even had the sun lounge where he slept covered in thick plastic dust sheets because he could no longer control his bladder but we'd often come down in the morning to find blood in his wee and his personality seemed to change too he became much more aggressive, not like himself at all.  My hubby had the nasty job of taking him to the vets to be put to sleep, very sad.

Enjoy the sun today everyone of it shines for you.

Aww, poor Ben. Sounds like you did your very best to keep him going, until the kindest thing was to put him to sleep.

I can't really contain H in one area, Squiggle, so both dogs are confined to barracks until Mr Yogi can do something to Harvey-proof the gap which H has created.

I tried putting him on an extra long training lead (I used it for recall training when Keira was a pup) but he kept getting tangled up round the birdbath and clothesline poles.
