That is so touching Summer, I can see that your friend could do with you being closer but that's life isn't it?  I hope you can meet up often.

Yes Ben still used to try and creep onto my lap but his bottom kept falling off and he wasn't comfortable.  Our cat when a tiny kitten used to like to get into our music cabinet which had space for LP records - there was just room for him to sit on top of them and he often used to peer at the space when he was adult and you could see he was puzzled about why he couldn't get in there anymore.

Good morning everyone

Skylark, I'm not surprised you have a fuzzy head if you slept in the room you've been decorating. I would have slept somewhere else. I hope you have a nice breakfast out with your sister.

At present, it's quite pleasant weather, a mix of blue sky and clouds. Showers are forecast later and the weekend weather is forecast to be bad with the possibility of torrential thunderstorms. There's a weather warning already out for Wales and much of England tomorrow and I think there will be further warnings for Sunday and possibly Monday.

Afternoon it's lovely & sunny here! Although a weather warning for rain has been issued.. It's been a quiet start at work today but I took the opportunity to let my colleague do some work while I painted a hallway out the back Skylark I too sleep where I paint although I get a bit of a dry throat, I'm usually alright, i think paints aren't as toxic as they used to be. You guys can tell me off if you like

It's the gloss that's worse, emulsion's alright but gloss & white spirits etc to clean the brushes after are really pongy! I've just been to pick up mr summer, he's been out celebrating a friends new baby's arrival. The friend in question met & married a truly wonderful girl, everyone we know likes her better than him now They had a girl- Annabel Skylark I hope you got a lot achieved and I'm sure it's going to look beautiful when it's done It's gone quiet downstairs.. I wonder if mr summer has fallen asleep bramble might lick his face Anyway, I'd better turn in again, got work tomorrow Oh- did I tell you about my car trouble?! I can't remember.. Anyway, it overheated , it's in the garage & I'm using MIL's car. She rarely drives it, but needs to get to church tomorrow night so I'll be picking her up straight from work. Hope to be here after Sweetest of dreams all Hope joyron is alright, it's been a while

Good morning everyone. The sun is shining up here.

Summer, I hope you get your car back soon, and it isn't too costly.

I laughed out loud when you said you all like your friend's wife better than him now - she sounds like a lovely girl. Congratulations to both of them on the birth of their new baby, Annabel.

I've been watching Olympic events from dawn to dusk, and cheering on Team GB.

Hope you all have a good day, catch up later.

Good morning everyone, a little grey here but I am glad the sun is shining on some of you.

Summer I hope the car doesn't cost too much to put right, it sounds simple maybe a hose needs replacing?  You can tell I'm no expert although I did break down on a motorway once when I had a car full of my hubby's family I was picking up from Bristol, and that was due to overheating.  I had to laugh too about your friend's wife, she does sound lovely.  It sounds like a very tiring week for you, make sure you get as much rest as possible.

Skylark I hope the decorating went well and the room looks lovely now.

I am not watching the Olympics but we do seem to be doing well, 3rd in the table last I heard!!!!

Yogi I'm loving the Olympics! We have it on every second we can, I don't usually watch much sport but I've really got excited about it this summer I hope Jess ennis does well today Squiggle, they're trying the thermostat first, it's the cheapest option. If that doesn't work it'll be whatever comes next.. I save a bit each week into a savings account for my car, it covers insurance, MOT etc but there's usually some left for repairs. Luckily for me I've never had anything go wrong on it since I bought it 2 years ago, so the fund is currently ÂĢ900! I'm hoping that the bill won't exceed that amount but at least it'll be a good start if it does

^^^^That's exactly how I feel about the Olympics this year.

Well done for having a fund for your car, great planning. Hopefully, it won't cost anything like ÂĢ900, then you'll still have some money left in your car fund.

Summer, I really hope the car doesn't cost ÂĢ900 or more to sort out

Squiggle, GB were 3rd for a short time but are currently in 4th place. It looks as if China and the States are competing for 1st and 2nd places, South Korea, GB and France are currently competing for 3rd, 4th and 5th places but the countries in those positions will change as for instance Russia is likely to dominate in the wrestling which starts tomorrow. Last Olympics GB finished 4th and they hope to to likewise this time.

I'm following the Olympics but am not glued to it. I'm hoping Jessica Ennis gets gold today of course. And yesterday Andy Murray beat Novak Djokovic, so he is in the final against Roger Federer tomorrow - guaranteed either gold or silver. I think the play off for bronze will be scheduled to start at noon with the final after that.

And with Andy Murray and Laura Robson winning first their quarter-final match in the mixed doubles and now their semi-final, he has a chance of getting two golds tomorrow.

The main part of the neighbours rendering has been done now. There's still some work to be done at the front (I think the workmen may have forgotten to do it), then the painting needs to be done.

I think the next project will be to replace the shared drive - it needs it. That may wait until next year as the neighbours need the cash for their share.

I've spent most of it glued to the Olympics.

Middle son visited this afternoon but luckily he is sports mad, so was happy to watch with me.

I have a lot of housework to catch up with.

How was your day - any word on the car?

Yogi19

Good morning everyone

Cloudy but dry here at present, but heavy thunderstorms are forecast.

The men's 100m is today with Usain Bolt. Film4 are showing Chariots of Fire today as well. The connection is that the film was in part about Eric Liddell's refusal to run in the 100m as it was being run on a Sunday. Those Olympics were the 1924 ones. The 1924 Olympics were also the last time the Mixed Doubles tennis was included until this year where Andy Murray and Laura Robson are in the final today.  Back in 1924, the States won with Hazel Wightman and Richard Williams. Richard Williams was one of the survivors from the Titanic disaster.

Good morning everyone, dry here at the moment but they have threatened us with rain later.

I am glad you managed to impress your son with your sports knowledge Yogi.  Happy viewing today.

Glad that the rendering is almost done EL it will be good to have it over and done with.

I hope that the new water pump fixes the car Summer.
