I hope Bramble does lose interest in the bees fast.
I hope the Somerset team does decide to carry on rather than just give up.

This was in our church magazine. I'm not sure if it's been posted before as it's similar to some that squiggle has posted.
One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, βHow much do I owe you?β βYou donβt owe me anything,β she replied. βMother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.β He said, βThen I thank you from my heart.β
As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.
Yearβs later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctorβs gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.
After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She began to read the following words:
βPaid in full with one glass of milkβ
Signed, Dr. Howard Kelly.
This is a true story. Dr. Howard Kelly was a distinguished physician who, in 1895, founded the Johns Hopkins Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Johns Hopkins University.
What a beautiful story EL and all the more moving because it is true - sometimes in stories like this I get a glimpse of how this world was designed to be, thank you for posting.
That's a beautiful story, thanks for posting it el
Im so glad there are kind people in this world
Lovely, heartwarming story, El.
I don't really understand cricket scoring, but even I realise that was a bad result for Somerset. I hope they don't give up though, after all, the only way is up now.
Summer, Keira used to try to catch bees when she was a pup, but she seemed to outgrow it - a bit like the stone chewing thing. Hopefully, Bramble will soon lose interest in the bees.
She did go through a stubborn phase and we had a battle of wills - I won.
Stick with it, you are doing a great job.
I'm off to bed too (lovely pic) sweet dreams, Summer.
Goodnight Velvet and Ros, if you are about later tonight.
Good morning everyone
A pleasantly warm sunny day here though forecast to be showers from tomorrow.
I only saw bits of the football last night, but from what little I saw, I didn't miss much and the result was inevitable and fair.
Good morning everyone, what a lovely goodnight picture Summer and I love the picture of the dog, so cute. It's amazing how like toddlers puppies are, and as for the people wanting to stroke Bramble before she has shown her manners and behaved, they are wrong, you are right so to them
Good morning everyone. The sun was shining when I woke this morning, however it has now clouded over.
@ the ball boys pic, Summer.
How ignorant of those people to disrespect your wishes re Bramble's training. It reminds me of those idiots who insist on trying to stroke guide dogs while they are working. Stick to your guns, Summer, you are doing a great job of training Bramble.
Mr Yogi shared the opinion of El and Mr Summer regarding the football last night. I didn't watch the game, I was watching BB - I wish I hadn't bothered. If the producers don't make some changes soon, I think I'll be switching off. The majority of the people they have chosen as HMs are horrible and the few decent ones are being voted out.
If it stays dry, I will attempt to mow the lawns, as more rain is forecast from tomorrow onwards.
The one nice thing about BB this year Yogi, and I agree that it is dire, is that I don't like any of 'em so I don't have to stick up for anyone or care tuppence if they get evicted, quite liberating!

Good point, Squiggle.
Summer, I agree with you and the others about the need to train Bramble not to jump up at people and your attitude to those who say she'll grow out of it. Obviously if you just left her to do that, she would think that's normal and would never grow out of it.
I think the match statistics of last night's match speak for themselves:
Possession England 37% Italy 63%
Shots on target England 4 Italy 18
On the radio this morning they were saying that the decision to rebuild Wembley in the late 90s resulted in the available money being poured into that rather than on trying to improve the training. They are starting to work on training new coaches through an academy and to improve players' technical skills. But it will take many years for this to work through and they don't see much improvement in the next 12 years. The English cricket people opened a new academy back in 2003-04 with the same intent and there's little doubt that English international cricket has improved since then.
It clouded over and looked like rain wasn't far away, so I decided to mow the lawns in record time. Guess who is exhausted? - and the blooming sun has reappeared now!
Mrs Blackbird brought her two chicks today. They are as big as her but she is still feeding them. They liked my raisins.
Hi all
Had a busy weekend with the family, thank goodness its Monday i can get a rest!
Stick by your guns Summer, sometimes people just stick their oar in when its not required , dont they The amount of people who stop me when i am out with Kia and go on about how aggressive Staffies are just gets my goat. I get tired of saying the same things over and over!
Didnt get to the cinema to see Top Cat, but definitely going this week.
I agree about BB, a rather nasty bunch, not warming to any of them.although i quite like Lydia !
Well done getting the lawn cut Yogi. I am having a bit of a lazy day !
Nice to hear the blackbirds doing well
Have a nice afternoon all x
IMDB the film site has a list of 12 video trailers of action films either in the cinema now or soon to be released. The 12 films listed were:
Dredd (that would be a rehash or a sequel to the Sylvester Stallone Judge Dredd film)
Django Unleashed (I think that's a rehash of the spaghetti westerns with a character called Djano in)
Resident Evil: Retribution (yet another entry in that series)
The Bourne Legacy (self explanatory - I think a different cast to the trilogy)
The Expendables 2 (guess what - a sequel)
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (wow, something original for once)
Skyfall (the next James Bond film)
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (that's not a film but a video game)
The Amazing Spider Man (a relaunch of the series with different cast and director)
Gangster Squad (don't think that's a sequel)
End of Watch (don't think that's a sequel either)
Total Recall (that is a remake)
So out of 11 films excluding the video game, 8 are sequels or remakes. Clearly the film industry is getting less and less imaginative. I don't think I will be paying money to see any of them, though I may one day see the less violent ones on television.
On the BBC news at lunch time they mentioned that a range of aerial photographs from years ago had been put online for the public to look at. Here's a link to that site if you are interested.
Be prepared for delays as a lot of people are trying to access that site.
Having an early night, see you all tomorrow.
Sweet dreams everyone.
Good morning everyone
Cloudier than yesterday, showers expected later.
I hope none of you have been affected by the NatWest/RBS banking problems over the past few days. I don't bank with them so haven't been affected.
Good morning all. Lovely sunshine this morning, with rain forecast for later.
Out and about with hubby today, see you all later.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning everyone, a bit drizzly here, have a good day out Yogi
I don't bank with Nat West either EL so no problems thank goodness. Awful for people who were badly affected, tales of people's house sales falling through, contracts lost etc, not to mention people whose direct debits weren't paid. I heard of one lady who had to leave her shopping behind when her card was declined.
at Summer's photo,
I think that aerial photograph site will be very popular and I expect many more photos will become available in future. It's unlikely there will be a photo of where I live as the area was farmland until the 1950s. There are just over 30 photos so far of the Gloucester area but mainly of the centre and to the south, east and west but not to the north .
Squiggle, there was also a report this morning of someone who had been granted bail but had to be kept in the prison as they couldn't get confirmation that the bail money had been paid due to the bank problems.
That's awful EL about the person on bail not being allowed out.
I had a quick look at the site (thanks for posting it ) but I will try to have a longer look. My little village was mentioned in the Domesday Book and in our village magazine they often have pictures from way back (I mean when photography started not as far as the Domesday Book ) and it's fascinating to see how little it has changed. There's a house on the opposite side of the valley from me and I thought it was maybe 50 odd years old but in an early picture taken in the early 1900's it's there then. I know it was all forest where my house is but most of the village is unchanged.
I love the picture Summer
This is where I used to live when I was very young - marked in red. The area hasn't changed that much though the railway line which you can see from the centre of the photo and then curves round the side of the park down to the bottom of the photo is now a bypass.
Morning
at Summer,s photo. Hope you enjoy your day out Yogi.
Lovely morning here, the sun is shining, it does cheer to see it.
Thanks for the link El, i saw a bit of this on the news about the aerial photos. Will have a look.
We havent been affected with the Natwest/RBS fiasco, dont bank with them. have sympathies with those who do. x
@ Summer's pic. I didn't buy a single plant, even though we did pop into the big garden centre. Mr Yogi had a coffee and a cake, and I had a cup of tea.
El, my area isn't on the site atm but I'll bookmark it for future reference.
Thankfully, we don't bank with RBS, so haven't been affected by the recent problems. I feel so sorry for anyone who has, and also for the frontline staff, who are probably getting dog's abuse.
I'm glad that none of you seem to have been affected by the NatWest/RBS mess.
I've found on the BBC website this link
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/collections
The BBC are in the process of creating a database of television and radio programmes from the past so that people can watch or listen to them online. Some of these have been shown on BBC4 in recent months.
So far there's a collection of programmes about London, some of which go back to over 50 years ago. There's a collection about the British Armed Forces and a collection about American culture. There's a big collection of Radio 4 programmes covering a wide range of topics. Lots of Desert Island Discs but although the list goes back to 1942, most of the older ones are not available.
There's also a collection of classic interviews, some television, some radio.
Looks quite interesting.
Signing out for the night, catch up tomorrow.
Goodnight all.
Morning all
Miss Bramble i can see you
Well sons wages not in bank again, guess who his employers bank with ?? Yes RBS! Maybe a good thing tho, if they aint in he cant spend any!
Weather a bit overcast at the minute, as long as it doesnt rain i shall be happy.
Have a good day all x
